Insect Nest

Early the next morning, after Yuga had enjoyed a breakfast prepared with care by Audino, he arrived at the Ecopark, ready to open a new Sub-Ecopark—the Insect Paradise.

This was a Sub-Ecopark with a unique and specially designed function, and Yuga was very much looking forward to it.

hole the Insect Paradise was no different from the other Sub-Ecoparks. After waiting a few minutes, a portal of light appeared in the main Ecopark.

However, this portal's color was different from the usual ones.

While the portals to other Sub-Ecoparks were blue and white, this one was yellow-green.

Stepping through the portal, the first thing Yuga saw was a massive lake, surrounded by towering ancient trees at all four corners.

These four trees couldn't be described as merely tall; they practically touched the sky.

Yuga initially thought the Milk Tree at the center of the Grassland Sub-Ecopark was enormous, but in comparison to these four trees, it couldn't even be compared.

What was striking about these four trees was their incredible straightness. Their trunks were like perfectly crafted pillars, with a clear distinction between the crown and the trunk, devoid of unnecessary branches.

However, what astonished Yuga the most wasn't the four towering trees but the colossal shadow reflected on the lake's surface.

Four those colossal half-sky trees was nothing but a support for this shadow.

It resembled a cocoon-like structure, predominantly gray and brown, clinging to the trunks of the four giant trees through numerous branch-like extensions. It looked like a small mountain with countless tiny holes all over its surface.

Due to the cocoon-like object's immense size, those holes resembled ant holes from a distance.

However, each of these holes could accommodate an adult, and as one moved closer to the center of the structure, the size of the holes could rival that of a large cave.

"What... what is this..." Yuga was so astonished that he could hardly find his words, stammering as he asked the system.

[ Insect Nest! This is an Insect Nest! ]

Yuga suddenly realized that, upon hearing the system's explanation, it did indeed resemble an insect nest, or rather, something akin to a massive beehive he had seen in a past life, just on an incredible scale. He hadn't initially made the connection.

"So, is this what you mean by the uniqueness of the Insect Paradise?"

[ Yes, in the Insect Nest, Bug-type Pokémon born here will have slightly improved potential, and living here long-term will enhance their vitality. The Insect Nest is the core of the entire Insect Paradise. ]

So, it was like a combination of the previous Guardian Orb and the Vespiquen Enchanted Honey but specifically for Bug-types!

This Insect Nest was quite impressive, but its appearance was somewhat eerie. Anyone seeing such a gigantic beehive-like structure would likely get goosebumps.

The Insect Nest extended downward from the middle of the four towering trees like a suspended bridge, all the way to the edge of the lake.

According to the system's introduction, it was designed for the convenience of Bug-type Pokémon that couldn't fly, including Yuga, to enter and exit the Insect Nest.

Yuga cautiously stepped onto the bridge-like pathway and found it to be somewhat soft, almost like a suspension bridge made of woven vines. As he walked, it swayed slightly, which was a bit unsettling.

The Insect Nest hung directly over the lake beneath the four towering trees, and directly below the four pathways was the deep water of the lake. As Yuga walked halfway, he couldn't help but feel a slight fear of heights.

"Is this thing really safe?"

Yuga asked the system nervously, and whether it was his imagination or not, he felt the bridge sway a couple more times under his feet.

This suspension bridge didn't seem very sturdy!

[ Host, please rest assured, there are absolutely no safety concerns! ]

Receiving the system's assurance, Yuga felt somewhat relieved.

It was only when Yuga reached the end that he realized that above the Insect Nest, there wasn't just the densely packed small holes he had initially thought. Surrounding the Insect Nest was a circular platform-like area connected to the pathway, which served as a resting place for the Pokémon.

Above the platform area were the countless small holes that Yuga had seen from below.

These small holes were the living quarters provided by the Insect Nest for Bug-type Pokémon.

Depending on the size of the Bug-type Pokémon, the specifications of the small holes varied. Regardless of the type of Bug Pokémon, they could all find suitable accommodations here.

With Yuga's skill, he couldn't climb up to observe those small holes, but for Bug-type Pokémon, entering and exiting these holes posed no difficulty.

At worst, there were places to live on the lower levels of the Insect Nest!

Thanks to the four towering trees, the Insect Nest was positioned quite high. Standing at the edge of the platform, Yuga had a commanding view of the entire Insect Paradise.

The lake and the Insect Nest occupied the central area of the Insect Paradise, surrounded by berry trees along the lake's edge.

However, compared to the four towering trees, these berry trees were like little grass beneath a big tree, hardly worth mentioning.

The berry tree forest wasn't very extensive, and if you continued outward, you'd encounter a field of flowering trees.

Unlike berry trees, these flowering trees only bloomed without bearing berry.

The flowering tree forest wasn't large either, and further out was a thorn bush.

However, even those thorns were of the flowering variety, and from a distance, they looked exceptionally beautiful.

The outermost area of the thorn bush resembled the flower fields in the Flower Sea Sub-Ecopark, but here, a mix of various flowers grew together, unlike the organized planting in the Flower Sea Sub-Ecopark.

In summary, the vegetation in the Insect Paradise was such that the farther inward you went, the taller the vegetation became, with the four towering trees being the limit.

After getting a sense of the Insect Paradise's layout, Yuga began relocating his Pokémon here.

First were the Ariados and Galvantula couple who lived in the Desert Sub-Ecopark. Bug-type Pokémon had a relatively quick reproduction rate, and since they had bonded, Ariados had laid several Pokémon eggs, all of which had hatched by now.

When moving, several Spinarak and Joltik followed behind Ariados and Galvantula, and they looked quite adorable.

Next were the Wurmple, Cascoon, Silcoon, Beautifly, and Dustox that lived on the Lake Center Island in the Shallow Seashore Sub-Ecopark.

The Lake Center Island in the Shallow Seashore Sub-Ecopark used to be the territory of Oddish and Hoppip, so with the addition of the Beautifly and Dustox, it did get a bit crowded. However, after relocating, everyone felt much more comfortable.

Once the Beautifly and Dustox moved into the Insect Paradise, Yuga also released the newly acquired Vivillon. They all got along harmoniously, without any conflicts.

Yuga believed that his Vivillon played a significant role in maintaining the peace. When faced with his Vivillon, the others would unconsciously choose to submit, and they didn't dare to act recklessly.

Finally, it was time to move the Leavanny, and the Vespiquens along with their Combee workers from the Flower Sea Sub-Ecopark.

The Combee moved quite easily, confidently settling into the Insect Nest.

However, it was a bit more challenging for the two Vespiquens with the Amber Castle. Yet, Yuga didn't rush them; they could take their time.

In fact, the environment of the Insect Nest was sturdier than the Amber Castle the Vespiquens had built themselves. They could even choose a larger hole in the Insect Nest to rebuild their nest if they wished.

The most challenging relocation was for the Ribombee.

While it wasn't exactly a husband and wife pair with Vespiquen No. 2, Vespiquen No. 2's children were also Ribombee's children! So when Vespiquen No. 2 moved, Ribombee was pulled along as a worker bee.

The situation with Vespiquen No. 2 was somewhat similar to the relationship between Joy and Jenny in the Pokémon world.

When Pokémon of different species have offspring, the species is randomly determined to be either the mother's or father's. But in the case of Vespiquen No. 2, without exception, all of her offspring were Combee.

One had to admit that Vespiquen No. 2 had incredibly dominant genes!
