CHAPTER SIX
The eight-year-old in question was now arriving at the slums, and still holding the heavy sack over her shoulder. Legendary stamina indeed! Even though the sack was heavy, Cordelia's chubby legs were holding up well.
Anyway, there was a reason I was in the slums. And, no, it's not so that I can get a crumbling house like the one I had before. It's actually for a person. This person was an extra in "English Rose" - Levi. The loyal best friend of the male protagonist, Zal, who gives up his life so that our dear Male protagonist can become a duke. A master swordsmaster who knew how to fight even at ten years old, even it if was dirty street fighting. And, like every extra, super handsome. Oh, yeah, and he has humble beginnings. But, don't we all? Anyway, I've already decided, while I was gambling, to yeet this storyline out the window and into the shadow realm. It would be weird to follow it since it's a tragic plot - and a trashy one at that. Ironic since I'm the one who wrote it, but it's true nonetheless. Cordelia now walked down the streets, which were littered with all sorts of trash (is that underwear I see?? I didn't know litterbugs existed in medieval times too). Soon, she neared a dingy shop that was brutally smushed between two bigger ones. The roof was leaking, but there was a good smell coming out the window.
Her ultimate favorite comfort food is cheddar popcorn! Made dirt cheap so that even the poorest could enjoy it! Cordelia smiled to herself. Yeah, she made a good choice on that one. But her business wasn't, like you would expect, with this dingy shop. It was with the person who was dumpster diving behind it. Cordelia whistled as she snuck behind the walls, squeezing through the narrow opening between buildings.
And there he was. Levi, her savior. Cordelia smiled. Instantly like a fox, Levi turned around. He was posed grandly on top of a pile of scraps, looking like a king, with a banana peel on his head instead of a crown. Captivating grey eyes and shaggy grey hair. "I- I'm not stealing!" Levi said defensively, and I tilted my head, trying to take in the scene in front of her. The bandages that wrapped Levi's hands made sense too - he was born with a curse that I was just too lazy to come up with a name for. Lol.
Anyway, the basics of the curse were that it was just the Uno Reverse of Midas's gold touch - killing anything that was touched by it - rusting metal, rotting wood, death at its finest. This is why the bandages on Levi's hands were also rotting away - the tips were blackened, but that could have just been because of the filth.
"...What are you looking at?" Levi growled, and Cordelia suddenly jolted to her senses and slapped herself on the cheeks. Then, she put her sack of coins down and plopped down right next to Levi. I internally screamed as a rotten bone crunched under my foot, which was, by the way, still without a shoe. After all, I had dashed here after getting the coins. "Nothing! Your face just looks nice. But, more importantly, I have a proposal for you." I said animatedly. "P-Proposal? Get lost, I'm already scavenging this dumpster." Levi said cautiously, and I almost laughed. Then, I picked up the half-eaten muffin in his hand and chucked it away. "Hey- wait - that was my food-" Levi started to protest, but I had already reached into my sack to dump coins into his hands instead. "Will you listen now?" I asked, and Levi gaped at me.
