I create my ice fog using the same principle, first I completely vaporise the iceberg with fire magic, and then I pull all of my fire Qi out of the fog, partially replacing it with ice Qi, resulting in a cloud of small snowflakes that I can control.

The molten metal held my fire Qi for a long time and did not change it in any way, so I have a better chance of learning to control metal than I do of learning to control water. If I learn to control molten metal, I can control lava, i.e. molten stone, but as a blacksmith, I am more used to working with molten metal than with stone.

Now I spent several hours a day trying to master Metal Magic, not forgetting the other elements, and not forgetting to train my students. Korra, being an Avatar, learnt magic several times faster than ordinary mages, and even though Katara was a very talented girl, Korra was able to do it after a few tries, while her younger sister had to try ten times as hard. A spark of envy flickered in Katara's eyes, but her sisterly feelings were stronger than that.

It took Korra a year to get a reasonable grasp of Ice Magic, and then I began to teach her Fire Magic as well. Normally, I would teach both Katara and Korra Ice Magic at the same time, but now, while I was busy with Korra's Fire Magic, Katara was being taught by Bing Xi Feng.
