The Conspiracy of Guzzlord and Nihilego

When Yuga stepped off the plane, he immediately noticed that the coach is already waiting for him. The coach approached him and about to say something, but Yuga interrupted him first saying, "Let's talk on the way. Let's head straight to the island now."

The coach nodded and led Yuga to a small aircraft. After instructing the pilot to head directly to the island, he began to brief Yuga on the current situation.

Due to the appearance of the unknown Pokémon, the island's wild Pokémon had either fled or scattered, yet the unknown Pokémon itself had still not been found.

The aircraft was fast, and since the island was close to Akala Island, they landed on the island smoothly within minutes.

As soon as they got off the aircraft, a person in camouflage ran up to the coach and reported, "Captain, we've located the Pokémon!"

Yuga and the coach exchanged glances before releasing their respective ride Pokémon. They followed the person toward the location of the unknown Pokémon.

Along the way, Yuga noticed that many of the plants and trees had vanished, leaving only devastation behind. The exposed ground was a shocking sight, perfectly matching the destructive nature of Guzzlord.

Before they even reached the scene, they could hear the roars from a distance. There was no doubt that the Investigation Bureau members were clashing with Guzzlord.

Sure enough, when Yuga and the coach arrived, they saw Guzzlord launching fierce attacks at the Investigation Bureau members, who could barely defend themselves and were forced to retreat.

Boom!

A Shiftry belonging to one of the team members was sent flying by Guzzlord's Dragon Tail. After hitting the ground, it trembled a couple of times before falling still. Seeing this, Yuga quickly sent out Lapras.

As soon as Lapras appeared, the surrounding air became humid, and its powerful presence immediately caught Guzzlord's attention.

Guzzlord looked even more ferocious than Yuga had imagined. Its ability, Beast Boost, had increased its strength to the limit, as it had already defeated several Pokémon.

Lapras opened its mouth, gathering a large amount of Water-type energy. Then it unleashed it in a powerful stream, pushing the massive Guzzlord back, saving a Swampert that had been under attack.

Since Lapras met Kyogre, its mastery of Water-type moves had grown significantly, and it showed no fear in facing the Ultra Beast, Guzzlord.

Guzzlord was immensely strong, and it was on a completely different level compared to Kartana, which was still young and much weaker.

Furious at being attacked, Guzzlord unleashed a Dark Pulse. The coach and the Investigation Bureau members tried to assist, but they were overwhelmed by the sheer force of the attack.

However, their efforts bought Lapras enough time to use Rain Dance. Under the rain, Lapras became even more powerful. The abundant moisture made it easier for it to use both Water- and Ice-type moves.

"Hoo..."

Lapras exhaled a breath of icy air, freezing the rainwater into ice spikes that shot toward Guzzlord. In no time, Guzzlord's body was covered in ice.

Before Guzzlord could break free from the ice, two beams of blue light engulfed it—Lapras's Origin Pulse, a move it had inherited from Kyogre.

When the light faded, Guzzlord lay on the ground, battered and exhausted. Just as Yuga was about to deliver the final blow, a rainbow-colored spatial portal suddenly appeared behind Guzzlord. The portal emitted an aura so intensely alien that Yuga could feel it from a distance.

Without hesitation, Guzzlord turned around and dove into the portal with surprising speed, despite its seemingly clumsy body.

"An Ultra Wormhole?" Seeing the portal, Yuga thought: Could Luna's disappearance be related to this?

"Absol, go after it!"

On instinct, Yuga ordered Absol to charge. With a powerful leap, Absol followed Guzzlord into the Ultra Wormhole and disappeared.

Lapras, seeing this, also tried to dive into the portal, but it was too slow. By the time it reached the spot, the Ultra Wormhole had already vanished.

Lapras let out a furious cry, and the raindrops around it turned into ice beads under the influence of its cold aura, falling to the ground and startling the Investigation Bureau members.

Yuga's sudden disappearance left the coach in a panic. "What just happened? How did he disappear so suddenly? How am I supposed to explain this to the higher-ups?"

A Hall of Fame-level Trainer had vanished right in front of him. No matter the reason, the coach couldn't escape responsibility.

He immediately organized a search team to investigate the cause of the Ultra Wormhole's appearance.

At the same time, Yuga and Absol, who had followed Guzzlord into the spatial tunnel, landed with a thud on the ground. They found themselves in a desolate, unfamiliar space surrounded by exposed gray and yellow rocks, with a dark, ominous sky above.

Before Yuga and Absol could get their bearings, they were suddenly surrounded by growls from all directions. Yuga turned his head and saw a group of Guzzlord staring at them with greedy expressions.

One, two, three... seven, eight. There were eight Guzzlord in total, including the one Yuga had just defeated.

Without hesitation, Absol grabbed Yuga by the collar and flung him onto its back, ensuring he was secure. In the next moment, Absol Mega Evolved. With so many Guzzlord present, Absol couldn't afford to be careless.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Waves of Dark Pulse and Dragon Pulse exploded beneath Mega Absol's feet as it agilely leaped away. It countered with its own Dark Pulse, even more powerful than the Guzzlords' attacks.

But there were simply too many enemies.

Yuga quickly summoned Gengar and Mismagius. Gengar, syncing with Yuga, Mega Evolved and teamed up with Mismagius to unleash Dazzling Gleam.

A pink light shone in the sky, and every Guzzlord hit by the Dazzling Gleam felt a scorching, stinging pain all over their bodies, howling in agony.

Fairy-type moves were highly effective against Dark and Dragon-type Guzzlord.

"Absol, don't engage them for too long. We need to get out of here first," Yuga shouted to Mega Absol.

Right now, the priority was to figure out what this place was and whether it had anything to do with Luna's disappearance.

"Absol!"

Mega Absol nodded, launching a Stone Edge attack, sending sharp stone blades flying, forcing back two Guzzlord that were closing in. Mega Gengar and Mismagius seized the moment to fire another Dazzling Gleam.

The three Pokémon fought while retreating, gradually slipping out of the Guzzlords' range. The Guzzlords, being large and cumbersome, moved slowly and couldn't keep up with Yuga and his Pokémon.

"Phew..."

After narrowly escaping, Yuga let out a long breath of relief. Now that he was out of immediate danger, he finally took a moment to observe his surroundings. Everywhere he looked, the land was barren, as if it had been reduced to ruins.

Yuga suspected that this devastation was caused by the Guzzlords.

He wasn't sure how far they had traveled when he spotted two more Guzzlord in the distance. This time, they were fighting each other, seemingly over a rotten piece of wood.

Not wanting to attract their attention, Yuga quietly changed direction and continued on his way. As he walked, he saw nothing beyond the barren wasteland. The vast desert-like environment showed no signs of life.

At some point, Kartana and Cosmoem emerged from their Poké Balls of their own accord, drawn by the overwhelming presence of Ultra Beasts in this strange space, which felt familiar to them as fellow Ultra Beasts.

Yuga couldn't help but wonder: were Guzzlords the only living creatures here?

Just then, he heard the sounds of a battle. Initially, he thought it was just another fight between Guzzlords over food, but the anxious cries of Kartana flying above made him realize it was something else.

Squinting into the distance, Yuga could vaguely make out a few small Pokémon attacking a Guzzlord. Those Pokémon appeared to be… Kartana.

Moreover, Yuga thought he saw an oasis. In such a barren landscape, finding an oasis was a rare stroke of luck! Perhaps it held the answers he was searching for.

Before Yuga could react, Kartana had already flown toward the battle, and Yuga had no choice but to command Absol to follow.

As they approached, Yuga confirmed that the small Pokémon were indeed Kartana. However, even though they outnumbered the Guzzlord, they were still no match for it, they barely managing to dodge its attacks with their speed.

Normally, with their speed, the Kartana could easily escape. However, they were trying to protect the oasis and had no choice but to stay and fight the Guzzlord. If the Guzzlord made it into the oasis, the home they relied on for survival would be destroyed.

Kartana had never seen others of its kind before. Seeing them being bullied by Guzzlord, it rushed to their aid without hesitation.

The other Kartana were surprised to see this unfamiliar Kartana suddenly appear. They had never seen it before. However, they had no time to dwell on that, as they quickly resumed their battle against Guzzlord.

But Guzzlord was incredibly strong. Even with Yuga's Kartana joining the fight, they were still no match for it, and before long, the situation descended into chaos again.

Just as the Kartana were about to be defeated, Yuga's Absol, Gengar, and Mismagius finally stepped in.

Absol and Gengar Mega Evolved once more, and together with Mismagius, they swiftly defeated the domineering Guzzlord.

When Yuga, holding Cosmoem, suddenly appeared, the Kartana looked at him with eyes full of curiosity, as they had never seen a being like Yuga before.

Since Yuga had helped them, the Kartana didn't show any hostility toward this unfamiliar creature. Instead, they were filled with wonder, making Yuga feel as though he was being observed by aliens.

Yuga's Kartana spoke with the group of Kartana for a while, and eventually, they expressed a desire to invite Yuga to visit their oasis.

Yuga had the same thought and gladly accepted the invitation.

Upon entering the oasis, Yuga found that it was much smaller than he had imagined. The vegetation was sparse, and the water supply was far from abundant.

Their arrival quickly caught the attention of the other Kartana living in the oasis. They all curiously studied Yuga and his Pokémon, almost as if they wanted to run over and ask who they were and where they had come from.

Led by a few Kartana, Yuga ventured deeper into the oasis, where he met the elder of the Kartana tribe.

"Are you human?" the elder Kartana asked in surprise as soon as it saw Yuga.

"You know about humans?" Yuga was equally surprised. Judging from the reactions of the other Kartana, they didn't seem to know what humans were.

"I never thought I'd actually see a human," the elder Kartana sighed. "I learned about humans from our ancestors. They once traveled to the human world and learned that other worlds besides ours exist."

The language of Ultra Beasts was different from that of other Pokémon, and Yuga hadn't always been able to understand it. However, after spending so much time with Kartana and Cosmoem, he had naturally picked up this special "foreign language."

"So, have you seen any humans besides me?" Yuga asked, a little disappointed.

The elder Kartana shook its head.

"There's a Guzzlord in our world. Do you know anything about that?" Yuga asked again.

The elder Kartana sighed, "Has it come to this? After ravaging our world, they're now moving on to another."

"What do you mean?" Yuga asked, confused.

"You've seen the state of the outside world, right? That's all the work of the Guzzlords," the elder Kartana explained.

This world was once a lush and beautiful place, inhabited by two species: the Kartana tribe that Yuga was currently speaking to, and the Nihilego tribe.

But one day, a large number of Guzzlord suddenly descended upon this world, bringing disaster with them.

Yuga had previously thought that Ultra Space was a single, unified dimension. But in fact, it wasn't. Each species of Ultra Beast lived in its own separate Ultra Space. The Ultra Space Yuga was in now had originally been home only to the Kartana and Nihilego tribes.

Guzzlord was a creature with an insatiable appetite. Not only did it eat an enormous amount of food, but it would consume anything other than dirt. For any world, this kind of creature was a catastrophe.

Once an Ultra Space lost enough life to sustain it, the space would become fragile and eventually collapse. The Guzzlords had consumed everything in their original home, causing it to collapse, which was why they had come to this world.

This world had once been home to a large number of Kartana, but most of them had perished at the hands of the Guzzlords. Only the Kartana living in the oasis had survived.

Over the years, this Ultra Space had also been gradually weakened by the destruction caused by the Guzzlords. As a result, the Guzzlords were able to easily travel to the human world.

According to the information the Kartana tribe had gathered, the Guzzlords seemed to be planning to take advantage of this opportunity to migrate to the human world. This was part of their deal with the Nihilego tribe.

The Nihilego tribe was stronger than the Kartana tribe, and of course, they couldn't stand by and watch their home be destroyed. However, they were unable to stop the Guzzlords either, as neither side could do much against the other. So, the two sides reached an agreement: the Guzzlords were allowed to ravage the land outside the Nihilego territory, and once the space became fragile enough for the Guzzlords to pass through the Ultra Wormholes, they would let them move on to another world.

In other words, the Kartana tribe and the human world were the sacrifices in the compromise between the Guzzlords and the Nihilego tribe.
