My eyelids felt heavy as I tried to open them.

"Ah!" I cried out as my sight made contact with the sun rays

I shielded my eyes from the light with my palms

It was quite painful opening your eyes to the light after being in the dark for what seemed like such a long time.

Where am I?

Like an explosion, flashbacks of everything that happened came back to me in a rush

I came home from school.

I saw my mom being physically assaulted by my dad.

I called Tyler who promised he would come home straight away

I tried to intervene

My dad pushed me

I fell

I blacked out

"You're awake!" A voice beside me said. I looked to see who it was. Keisha was sitting on my bed

"Oh my gosh" she hugged me tightly. My lungs were threatening to give up

"Can't breathe" I said weakly

I felt so tired and exhausted, not to mention the banging headache I had. How come I get easily tired these days?

"Sorry" she quickly pulled away.
