Prologue: Being human sucks at the moment.

I hated being human. Especially in the 21st century. Especially in a late-stage capitalism dystopia where rent costs more then your life. I wasn't rich, and I refused to use my probably intelligent brain for anything other then figuring out the plot of stupid cliché Anime.

Sometimes I wondered if I should try fix the world in some way, but I wasn't charismatic or driven enough to become a politician, and honestly, I'd rather watch anime or read manga then talk to a huge crowd of people who don't like you very much.

So instead, I decided to do little things. I'm an organ donor, I donate blood, volunteer work cleaning beaches and helping elderly, that kind of stuff. Honestly It's fun, makes me feel accomplished, like I was a goodish person, yada yada. Anyways, The day everything went down, I was donating blood at the local office.

It was a totally normal day, except for the fact that I forgot to eat breakfast and was hungry. While the nurse was taking my blood we had a lovely chat about something, I don't remember exactly what because I was too busy thinking about how I should really stop watching AOT for the sake of my mental health. (I mean, I guess I did in the end) After Demon Slayer, I didn't feel like watching every character I love die gruesomely.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by the lovely nurse who was starting to look rather concerned. "Are you okay?" She asked me. I was a bit puzzled, because for some reason her voice sounded like it was underwater. "You're looking rather pale there, darling, and I couldn't get your attention. Do you need water? A rest?" Damn, looks like was too deep in thought. On that note, the only thing I need from the nurse is her number. Is she single? Interested in girls? "I'm fine. Sorry, I got a bit absorbed in my plans for the day. Are we done here?" She smiled at me, and put the vial of my blood into a drawer. "Yes we are, thank you for donating blood today, god bless you." I chuckled as I stood up; god certainly doesn't bless me, and the idea of a 'god' in general isn't exactly a comforting thought, to me at least. "It's no problem, have a nice day."

Walking out of the building my head starts ringing, and I grimace a little before pulling my hood to cover my face from the sun. It's too bright. I Slowly start on the 30 minute walk back to my apartment, looking at the ground. Looking up to check the traffic light crossings, the green light comes into view and I start walking across, only to hear screaming behind me. "Stop! There's a cop chase and the guy's running the light!"

My foggy hearing picks the words up a second too late for my heavy body to respond properly, but god damn I tried. I run, sprinting the hardest I ever have across the road as fast as I could, the sound of police sirens blaring around me as I go; but just as I thought I'd made it, my body goes flying from some impact I couldn't see or feel. Landing on the street, the sirens pass by me. "The police didn't stop!" I hear someone shouting. "Why didn't they stop? Can't they see they've hit someone?!?"

The pain finally hits me, and I'm screaming, thrashing on the ground. There's a crowd around me, horrified, talking, shouting so much I can only pick out pieces of what they're saying. "Oh my god, the poor girl!"

"Someone call an ambulance!!"

I already have, but you can see her organs. I don't know I they'll make it in time!!!"

"How much blood has she lost? Can we stem the bleeding??"

The pain is mixing with a swarm of emotions. Fear, pure terror at what I just heard, sadness at the life I'm losing, regret at not doing more. But the pain is starting to fade, the sounds getting smaller, and my sight is going blurry and black. 'I'm dying.' The thought clangs through me, and my last thoughts were,

'I hope I'm not human next time as well... that would suck. I'd like.. to be an animal, or... maybe a monster from an anime. At least.. that would be.. a simpler.. life'

And then my last breath left my body.

I rather like the idea of this story so I might actually properly do it lol
