As Caid , Mikael and Paikos were thinking of a plan of action on the cockpit Tank was sweating more and more. I had been more than 3 hour's since they had passed the most southern point of the continent and continued in no man's territory. They had refueled at their last stop , but he didn't know where they were going so he was beginning to worry.
' Where are we heading to fly so deep into no flight territory? He isn't going to make us land into the sea is he?'
Tank looked to the side and saw the man who had killed Vispa in cold blood not long ago, but quickly turned his head not daring to see him on the eyes. The man was sitting where Tank usually sat and continuously checked the cameras spread all across the airship, especially the places where the hostage's were.
He finished checking the cameras for the tenth time and turned towards Tank with an amused look on his face.
"Mmmm.... you know that staring won't answer your questions right?"
"I know it's just that.... nevermind, it's nothing."
"Nothing huh? Well that's the worst excuse I ever heard and I've heard a lot of them. Don't worry and speak what you're thinking."
Tank was worried about the fuel, but he was more afraid of him. It was irrational that someone would be angry from just asking, but when that someone had the power to end your life in a second it was different. Suddenly his shirt felt damp, sweat having drenched it, but to Tank it felt different. The sticky feeling of the sweat reminded him of Fisba's dead body laying on the floor, his crushed head and the unending pool of blood that smelled of rust. This memory imediately made him body stuff all over, like a stone statue.
"Whoa, calm down man, you're going to have a heart attack."
The man saw this and immediately got up from his seat and grabbed Tank's hands which had grabbed the control stick of the airship. He tried to remove Tanks hands from the control stick, but found that they were gripping tightly and wouldn't let go.
"Hah hah...I don't know what's going on. I can't control my body, it won't listen to me .
What is happening to me?"
Tank was beginning to freak out because he had lost control of his body.
"Hey it's okay, calm down and take some deep breaths. It's just a minor panic attack, nothing to worry about. Now, deep breaths and everything is going to be okay...
"Hah hah... okay....
Tank did as the man said and after a little while his body finally relaxed and he could breathe normal once again, but the fear was still there.
"What the hell happened, why did you panic like that? " The man sounded a little worried about Tank, but Tank didn't feel any warmth from those words.
"I...I don't know. It suddenly just happened and that was it , nothing more."
"Does this happen often to you?"
"Yeah it happens sometimes, but this time it caught me unprepared, that's all."
"LIAR!
You think you can fool me? You clearly didn't know what was happening so you couldn't have had it happen to you before
. Do I need to remind you what happened to Vispa...or is it because of what happened?"
Tank didn't answer, but the look on his face told him all he needed to know.
"Hah~
You're afraid I'll kill you too right? That your life is going to end soon is pretty terrifying, right? Totally different from what you imagined it ,right?"
Still, Tank didn't answer, even though he wanted to something was stoping him. Seeing this made the man laugh out loud.
"Hahahaha...
You know, I've killed a lot of people with these two hands of mine and what I've found is that life on itself is not that special. To me it's the same as killing an ant on he ground, feeling no remorse at all, but when I think of death myself it's a different story. I know that I'm no different than those I kill, but even the thought of death terrifies me. I think of my decomposing body buried on the damp ground slowly being eaten by the same ants I killed without remorse and then I understand. Understand what you may ask and I'll answer...
Life is ment to be shared with other people and that is happiness, your happiness. Death on the other hand is entirely different as it no longer affects you, but those around you."
'Those around me...death?
The words of the man pierced deep on Tank's soul as he was again reminded how alone he was on this world. No parents, no wife, no kid's...
"So,what are you saying? That if I die right now no one will care about me? Is that it?"
"Maybe... but that's the beauty of life, it can have no meaning , but still be good. An ant is a slave, but can you say it's unhappy. Compared to other ant's does it differ in any way of you look at it from afar?
No, it does not, because it doesn't matter."
"Great talk...
