Hunter X Hunter: A Different Gon Freecss

This was my story when I was still writing on Royal Road, but after a long time, I decided to post it here. "Hunter x Hunter: Gon Freecs, The Multiverse Gamer" was the title. (It's Freecss, not Freecs, by the way, but I didn't seem to notice or care…) It will not be the same, nor will the system, but the beginning of the story (which will be drastically different for this site) will be preserved. To be clear: I don't write in masterly English because I was not born in an English-speaking country and don't speak the language well. I don't like writing 18+ or sex scenes, so I'll leave that to your imagination, but I keep the 18+ tag because I write adult stories that contain explicit adult terminology. ------------------------ The story contains no yaoi or yuri. In any case, I don't create explicit content. I will not answer any questions I am not supposed to. Inquiries about who will or will not be in the harem will also be removed. I've provided all pertinent information, so if all you want is an excuse to do so, disregard the story or stop reading it. This is not a light read with fun porn scenes you can skip to.

Chapter 6

Around my neck while I was fishing at sea, Severus was tired from doing nothing for too long.

He spent a lot of time sleeping.

Since the day I first met Severus and assisted him in escaping the slaughter of his snake family, some time had passed.

Weeks had gone by.

When I examined the new modification in my status windows, I wasn't shocked by what I discovered…

In my bargain with the mother snake, she had brought up the curious subject.

Name: Gon

Threat levels: scouting (tier 3), regular fighting (tier 2), assassination (tier 2)

Stats: strength (tier 1), vitality (tier 2), stamina (tier 2), durability (tier 1), dexterity (tier 2), agility (tier 2), perception (tier 3)

Singularities, gifts and buried talents: freecss, fishing, limitless potential, ageless, crowning deal, multiverse traveler, snakey bones, kingsnake genes

####

[Kingsnake genes: A poison-resistant, poison-understanding body capable of producing chemicals, toxins, acids, and various baking hot poisons.]

####

The mother queen snake was actually a weaker discrepancy, a snake congener of a Majū that had gone extinct on Whale Island ages ago.

This one I met had recently lost her partner.

After the father king snake died, queen snakes were unable to pass on the kingly snake genes to the young male snakes.

Not even to the young snakes who, unlike me, were born naturally.

For the acquisition to happen, there was a waiting period.

For males, the queen snake genes would change into and show up in the body as king snake genes.

The fact that the small family of snakes was so easily wiped out was most definitely not because only the mother snake and her daughters were resistant to the poisonous and large lizards. Their weakness caused their death.

The lizards, who were returning to reclaim the territory they had lost for years, had been intending the vindictive carnage for a long time.

They now owned that section of the forest.

"Another one, Gon? Haha! How many would that make now if you catch that one?" At sea, there was a brief rainstorm. One of the nearby fishermen, with whom I got along well and was most familiar, inquired.

He was ecstatic, as were most of the other fishermen here because I was making a lot of money for them.

I only kept a small portion of the fish I caught and gave the rest to them.

"Heave-ho!… Yeah! Got you!" I fished out the fish that had bitten my fishing line before responding, "That should be the 58th one, I guess, Dinard?"

Dinard was the name of the veteran fisherman on this boat, where I frequently came to hone my skills and bring fish back home for Mito to cook and serve to us.

He was an old man who was overly proud of my accomplishments.

I had the impression that he considered me to be his grandson at times.

He was actually Tina's grandfather. As in Tina, the bartender who worked at Mito's.

"In three hours, 58 tunas? You're frightening me more and more, kid!" Nearby, another fisherman exclaimed. His fishing line had barely moved all day.

No one was found using fishing nets on Whale Island. It was a bit frowned upon.

Not because of morals, but because we were simple people who recognized the value of fishing ability. It was a traditional way of looking at fishing. In a macho sort of way.

Finding some big fish while fishing the traditional way was exciting for us. We were a bored bunch…

The fishermen who couldn't come back with some fish for days were permitted to use fishing nets.

However, the majority of our men had been fishing since they were kids. They had a wealth of practice and skill and simply loved fishing.

I was becoming a better fisherman than I ever could have been in my previous life. Gon had a unique body and set of senses. After giving them the tuna, I asked the professional fishermen with a gentle smile because I was getting bored. "Your fishing quota for today ought to be fulfilled, right? Shall we return to land?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Months later.

It was initially difficult for me to train Severus to become stronger. He was a snake, but he was also a baby with poor concentration.

I had no idea how to develop his strength other than by letting him roll himself around things and squeeze them.

After a while, I simply decided to let nature take its course and had him run alongside me whenever I ran to strengthen my lower body and abdominal strength, dexterity, and vitality related stats.

He was benefiting from it.

The "small guy" initially struggled to keep up with me as I jumped on trees around the island and other things, but he soon became quicker and less susceptible to fatigue.

Severus had also grown a little.

He was big, but his mother wasn't as big as an anaconda could be. He was your typical large snake that you could tie around your neck.

One of these days, I eventually noticed changes in the windows when we ran and even competed on the way back, me running and him scurrying around objects.

He asked me as he was eager to win the race back home, when I abruptly stopped and took my time, resting my hand on the branch of a large and tall tree. [Gon, what's the matter? Why did you stop moving forward? Do you intend to quit?]

Severus was an honest and cheeky little snake. Actually, he was just competitive; he wasn't being cheeky.

Since I didn't have enough time to get to know his family, I couldn't be certain who he got that from…

My agility was now in tier 3, and all of my stats had advanced to tier 2. Tiers, which I still didn't fully understand. Now, even I posed a tier 3 assassination threat… It sounded cool… That's all I could tell.

As for Severus' threats, they were now all in the second or third tier, depending on the threat.
