Hubby's Test

Love, they say, conquers all. Lily and her best friend, Freddie, as predicted by their friends, surely fell in love with each other. Eventually, they moved on to getting engaged and later marrying. Freddie's mother tested all her daughters-in-law. She followed the family heirloom. Marriage, as Lily had perceived it from her parents, wasn't what her world was like. After four months of their marriage, the real world began. She had to watch her husband bring another woman into their matrimonial home and even their matrimonial bed. What was the cause of it? Lily came to her senses after the divorce. She was new. Was it her fault? Freddie had something to say. But Lily had no intention of going back to her love.

Chapter 3... only mine

Lily and her friends stopped to sit in front of one table and began to whisper.

"You two look adorable together." Christina began.

"You know, I can't wait to see your kids." Benedicta told her.

"Beneh, you know we just agreed to date each other." Lily said with blushes.

"Yeah, what's the rush. What about you and Kay? What's your plan?" Steph pointed accusing fingers at Benedicta. She was with Kay.

They all knew how chilly her relationship with Kay was. They were inseparable.

"Well, you did very well. And to say, I wish you all the best in your relationship." Christina confessed, although she was very envious of her friend.

Though, she was the only one without a lover, she was blameless. She kinda had eyes for Bright, Freddie's friend. She didn't know if he also did. But, she just couldn't take her mind off him.

He was also lonely. She thought.

Steph opened one of the champagne bottles on the table. She poured the drink into four glasses.

The four friends each picked up a glass and toasted to success while the males also did the same thing.

Later on, the men joined the women as they celebrated their friends' new relationship.

Caleb had pulled Steph to him, ensuring that she didn't get addicted to the bottle. She was a fun of drinks. She would drink to make people happy, dance for them in her state and even fight.

In order to ensure she didn't do that, Caleb got her to himself. He sat on a stool with her on his laps.

"What happened to your friend?" She asked him about Freddie since she quite didn't know him. She gently placed her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.

"Not quite sure either. He's very mysterious." Caled placed his hand on her head to support her posture and the other resting on her thighs.

Christina refilled the glasses over. She was glad to be among her friends. She couldn't care less that she was without a partner.

All this while, a pair of eyes continued to stare at her. They had been on her since she got in with Lily.

Bright couldn't take his eyes off her. He had been wanting to approach her. But the way she was, made it difficult for him to do so. She was very harsh when it came tothe opposite sex.

Maybe that was why she was still single.

He had to it today. Taking a sip of his drink, he went to her.

Kay pulled Benedicta from Christina the moment he saw Bright approaching her. He had gotten the lines and had to give them space.

"What was that for?" Benedicta asked as she was annoyed that he had pulled her.

Kay then pointed at what he was seeing.

"Ooooo!" Benedicta had to apologize to her babe.

"Sorry babe, I had no idea." She gently stroked his cheeks to convince him by rubbing it.

"I'm fine. Don't worry. But, remember, you have to pay for this."

"Yes sir." She saluted him and they went their way.

"Hey, have a minute." Christina was still in wonder as in why Kay had pulled her friend that way and did not get what the guy in front of her had said. She stared at him in a daze.

"What?" She asked. Her back pulse ticking. She wanted to hide somewhere. The guy she had been admiring the whole time was right in front of her. What a coincidence?

"You, you look gorgeous. I never said that to you before." Bright had placed the glass down and wanted to get on with it straight away.

"I want you to be only mine!" He said it and he meant it.

Christina stood there, motionless. Thank God she had placed the glass she held down.

"Say yes." Lily shouted from behind. She hadn't even neared Freddie who wanted to speak to her.

"I don't know what to say!" Christina had turned to her friend explaining to her.

"Just say yes. I know you like him." Lily again said.

"I need you. I want you badly as much as you do." Bright spoke in the manner which he spoke to his patients if they didn't want to go for surgery or take their drugs. He stretched his hand towards her and then pulled her to him. He hugged her stiff body.

Christina still couldn't believe her ears. He wanted her as much as she did. Why didn't she take the initiative? She looked up to see his expression. Unexpectedly, his lips met hers. Christina's hands flew down. They were bundled up and now were freed. Her breath even hitched. She didn't know what to do.

Bright sucked on her lips for a while. He realized her breathing had stopped. He then halted his action.

"Bye guys." He pulled her into his arms and quickly led her to the gate.

Christina's face burned. She had covered it right when he had pulled away. Who was he?

Lily clapped and rejoiced like a child. She was very happy for her friend. She had finally found somebody.

Freddie had to silence her with a kiss. He engulfed her in a hug then carried her in a bridal way towards the gate.

"Only mine." He told her before exiting through the gate.
