Chapter 1

The clear sky radiated dazzling sunlight as I strode with a pounding heart towards school. It was my first day after the unexpected incident a few weeks ago. I still couldn't believe what had happened to me, how my life had drastically changed in an instant.

It happened when I was walking home alone after archery club practice. I felt the sky suddenly turn dark, and before I could react, I was attacked by an unexpected monster. My body felt weak as I fought off its attack, but there was nothing I could do. I felt like my life would end there.

However, in the midst of my despair, a mysterious girl appeared. She was Rias Gremory, the president of the Occult Research Club. Quickly, she stopped the demon's attack and saved me from death. I couldn't believe that I was still alive, but Rias explained to me that she used the Evil Piece to restore my life.

Now, I was her pawn, a supernatural being subject to her will. I had powers far beyond what I had ever dreamed of. My body transformed into one of them, and I felt a powerful energy flowing inside me.

Since then, I have lived with Rias and her club members at the Gremory residence. They have guided me in controlling my new powers and understanding this complicated supernatural world. I learned about the war between angels and demons, and the important role Evil Piece plays in this conflict.

While I am grateful to have been given a second chance at life, I also feel confused and adrift by these changes. What does it mean to be a pawn? What is the true purpose of Rias and what is expected of me? And more importantly, how could I maintain my normal life while dealing with the power I had just gained?

With a heart full of doubts and mixed feelings, I stepped into the classroom. My gaze fell on Rias and her club member, Akeno Himejima, who were sitting in their designated spots. They waved and smiled at me, providing warmth and support that made me feel better.

As the lesson began, I tried to focus my mind on the teacher and the subject matter. However, my curiosity and worries about my new role as a pawn continued to plague my mind.
