Chapter 130: Improving Spells

Hogwarts.

Arthur hadn't relaxed like this in a long time.

Since entering the magical world, he had been working hard to improve his abilities and had little time for fun.

He had worked very hard to learn about magic, potions, and even alchemy.

Cho just wandered around Hogwarts with Arthur.

They bought clothes at Gladrags Wizardwear and fun little things at Zonko's Joke Shop.

They also looked at the Shrieking Shack from a distance.

They walked around and stopped in each store to look around.

Finally, they arrived at the entrance of a pub called Three Broomsticks.

As they entered, a noisy atmosphere greeted them. The place was full of wizards who were talking and making noise.

Some of them had loud voices, but Arthur didn't mind. He actually felt a sense of being back in the Muggle world's pub.

Behind the bar stood an elegant, golden-haired witch who, despite her age, had a certain charm.

"That's Mrs. Rosmerta. Marietta and I don't like her," Cho quietly told Arthur.

Arthur took a quick look at her but didn't pay much attention. Cho was happy with his reaction.

At their seats at the bar, Mrs. Rosmerta handed them two menus and reminded them,

"I won't sell any alcoholic drinks to underage wizards. You can have butterbeer or lemonade."

As Arthur listened, he suddenly remembered how easily Lee Jordan had bought a lot of alcohol last year and couldn't help but chuckle.

Cho ordered two cups of hot butterbeer and a plate of sweet donuts, then returned the menu to Mrs. Rosmerta.

"You've probably never had this freshly brewed hot butterbeer before. The taste is completely different after it sits for a while," Cho shared her experience with Arthur.

Soon, their orders arrived.

Arthur took a sip of the hot butterbeer, drinking half the cup in one go.

Instantly, a warm feeling spread throughout his body, dispelling the chill from the outside.

"Ah~" he exhaled a breath of warmth, savoring the smooth taste.

After a while, he turned to Cho and said, "I should have come here with you earlier."

Cho smiled brightly, took a sip herself, and then took out some snacks they had bought earlier.

They sat there, eating and chatting.

During their time, They met Roger Davies, who was with a witch Arthur didn't recognize, probably not from Ravenclaw.

Roger was surprised to see Arthur there, but even more so after Arthur showed him Dumbledore's letter.

He thought Arthur had sneaked out, but he didn't expect him to have the headmaster's slip.

After a brief conversation, Roger and his companions left.

"I can guarantee you that the witch next to Roger is not the one I met last time," Cho confidently told Arthur.

"This must be his third girlfriend this semester."

Girls have an inherent love for gossip, and even Cho couldn't resist.

She talked about Roger's past all afternoon, saying that Arthur was the one who corrupted him.

Arthur completely denied being responsible for that.

He had only been asked by Roger for advice on how to get along with girls and had casually chatted with him.

Little did he know that Roger had such talent.

They stayed at Three Broomsticks until it was time to return to the Hogwarts campus, as requested by the school.

...

After Valentine's Day, the semester entered its second half, and the professors kept assigning more and more additional assignments, making the young wizards miserable.

"Hermione, Can you lend me your essay for Ron and me to use as a reference?" Harry pleaded with Hermione, but she remained unmoved.

"No lending. Only the essays you write yourself can make a lasting impression. Plagiarism makes everything meaningless," Hermione responded.

"But I've already learned how to turn a teapot into a crucible. Why do I still have to write an eight-foot-long essay?"

Harry slumped on the couch, a look of despair on his face. Ron had the same expression beside him.

Ever since Arthur was allowed by the professors to skip doing homework, Harry and Ron have entered a difficult period.

Previously, Arthur would gladly let them borrow his assignments for a few days, but now that they no longer had that support, and Hermione never showed them her work.

The two of them had to think hard to come up with enough words to fill the paper.

Hermione glared at the two slacking students.

"Can't you survive without Arthur's help?"

Harry didn't respond.

Instead, he curiously asked Hermione, "So, since Arthur doesn't have to do homework, what is he doing now?"

"He's writing letters to his old friends," Hermione said proudly.

That's right, Arthur had been talking about magic with the members of the Order of Merlin recently.

Ever since he was awarded the Merlin Medal, he had established contact with them, exchanging letters from time to time.

Lately, owls have always delivered letters to Arthur from morning till night because he wanted to improve the Doubling Charm.

As for why Arthur wanted to improve the Doubling Charm, it was because the wizarding world's existing charm for Doubling was too complicated.

It could only duplicate one sheet of paper at a time. If it was a book, the spell wouldn't work.

Arthur found it very annoying when he was Doubling the Slytherin research materials in the Chamber of Secrets, not to mention all the other books out there.

So, he decided to improve the effectiveness of the charm and make it capable of a set of books. Then, he could go the library in the Chamber of Secrets.

Although Arthur had no problem using spells, it wasn't easy to easily change a spell that had existed for so long.

He lacked the required expertise, so he thought of seeking help from those old folks.

When the group of old wizards received Arthur's letters, they showed great interest and always provided him with advice.

Finally, on the day before Easter, Arthur succeeded.
