Chapter 88 - Hate Potion.

[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

Salazar was looking at his silent and calm room, as he had always done for the last 1000 years, returning to normal since that boy had gone away and everything seemed ordinary once again as he appeared to relish his solitude in that room, except for the fact that his precious Sara was now dead, which left him quite sad but unable to do anything about it.

But it seemed that this would break today, because the next moment, part of the structure exploded, cracking the place. When he looked towards the location, he saw more punches being inserted at the entrance, causing it to crack even more and begin to crumble.

"Damn, why didn't I think someone might come to break in with brute force?" Salazar could not help but murmur as he saw, once again, the entrance to his precious chamber being destroyed. As soon as the stones flew in all directions, knocking various things down, Snape appeared, with a quite serious look.

"Hello, Salazar. It's been a while..." Snape said, while Salazar just nodded, as there was nothing he could do about it.

Snape walked towards the bookshelves in the room. It had been two days since Snape had received that wizard's investigation, so he gave up looking for anything in the forbidden section, not having success, he thought he might risk some time looking at the exemplars in Salazar's collection.

Snape looked at the portrait that had been staring at him the entire time, before addressing it "I want to know one thing, if you can help me..." He requested.

Salazar slowly stood up. "No, I will not help you." He simply said.

"Alright." Snape shrugged off the refusal while heading to the shelves behind what might indicate the last missing piece of the puzzle that was his mother, father, and the Prince family, especially about his father's uncontrollable rage.

Then after looking at some of the books, he took one to sit down in the chair and begin reading right there. His first book had nothing after reading it for an hour, so he moved to the next while remaining focused not even caring about the portrait that continued to stare at him the entire time.

Thus, he read the third, fourth, fifth and seemed to give up when he reached the twelfth book. "I'm leaving." Snape simply said while Salazar's memory just nodded watching the boy leaving.

"He didn't even fix the door..." He could not help but complain about the hole and all the destruction that Snape had caused still being part of the environment.

The next day, Snape returned to the place, catching Salazar's attention once more. The boy seemed determined on something, and spent another whole day choosing book by book, despite them containing quite interesting information in many of them, Snape ignored this knowledge and sought only what really mattered to him. Salazar, on the other hand, seemed unable to take it anymore and finally broke the silence after two days.

"Boy... what are you looking for in my books...?" Salazar spoke.

And Snape, who was reading his book, looked up while raising an eyebrow at him, remaining silent for a few seconds before speaking. "I'm after something that can change someone's feelings towards another... not that I would want to do something like that, but someone close to me is someone with that... But do you really want to know about it and try to help me?" Snape spoke calmly waiting to see what the portrait would respond.

"You could kill some of my boredom." Salazar responded calmly.

"Will it take time, is that worthy of the great founder of Hogwarts?" He did not fail to raise an eyebrow mocking the man who liked very much to show off and insult him as a half-blood, even though he had not done that in the last while he was here reading his books.

"Tsk. Don't be arrogant, boy... and I have all the time in the world, if you haven't realized yet." Salazar spoke in the same arrogant tone.

"Alright then... I'll tell the story of my mother..." Snape spoke, before he began to recount everything he knew about her childhood in the Prince family.

Salazar listened to everything as Snape summarized the story with just a few sentences. "I'm looking for something that can make one person feel intense hatred for another, and that this hatred increases every year, even if the other person is under the effect of the Love Potion, I can't find anything..." he said.

"Well, that is quite intriguing..." Salazar commented. "The man feels hatred while the victim, your mother, is under the Love Potion?" Salazar couldn't help but murmur. "I see... It seems he is affected by the Hate Potion," Salazar said, while Snape looked surprised.

"Hate Potion? I've never heard of that," Snape spoke. Even knowing there could be an antagonist for potions that provide eternal love, he had never encountered anything related to this. Even though he had access to high-level books.

"Well, it seems you are not aware, and it seems it is not mentioned anywhere," Salazar quickly deduced. "This potion must have been lost many centuries ago, but in my time people could make it, just like the Love Potion. This potion is a taboo, as you must know. The Hate Potion increases with each passing year, leading the man, in this case, your father, to kill your mother. It's a quite delicate situation, but it seems the family of your mother is involved with this. They are an ancient family, aren't they?" Salazar asked and Snape nodded.

"Born about 500 years ago," he replied.

"Well, there might not be more details about the Hate Potion in your books, but still, some families must have this knowledge kept. The Prince family seems to be one of them. They made a perfect trap for your mother, who, I doubt, tried to usurp her own brother. After all, they would hardly accept a woman as the leader of the family," he spoke like a traditional man, knowledgeable of the customs.

"I see..." Snape murmured and Salazar hadn't finished.

"So they managed to do something so perverse," he said while Snape couldn't help but get angry. "And magic is never a double-edged sword... since it involved your mother, but also the younger sister of two other brothers. It's no wonder the family might disappear in this generation, after all the magic itself manifested and cursed them somehow..." Salazar concluded while Snape nodded. "You could also be something." He just added.

"Well, this is going to be interesting," Snape couldn't help but murmur, already starting to prepare for whatever might come. He didn't intend to let this go cheaply, and if someone came after him, it would be even easier for him.

"I can smell someone seeking revenge from here, boy," Salazar, even as a portrait, said confidently. "Being jealous of your own sister and doing this to your own blood is something unforgivable, and I would kill them myself. But don't let hatred take over you. Magic is dangerous, and it can affect your life like a curse, just as it affected the Prince family, who no longer have a son in this generation, as you said, due to what they did to their own blood. Now the family is doomed to disappear," Salazar commented.

Snape just nodded, not knowing how to respond to that. He simply spoke before leaving: "Thanks for the advice. Now, I'm going." He finished, putting the book away, since he already had the answer to his questions.

Then he proceeded out of the room, after fixing the entrance and passing by the frozen basilisk. He had not yet begun to remove its body parts, wanting to see this close to the holidays or even during them, so he moved on.

After leaving, there was no sign of Moaning Myrtle, as he began to arrange the entrance of the chamber in the bathroom.

Snape went to the Room of Requirement, and going to his most frequent room, where he began to train. He did not fail to open the system and began adding all the points he needed in other things, not being his intelligence, after all, he needed to increase his physical strength.

'I have to be careful... I'm already bursting with magic for now, standing out far above my peers...' He knew that if he showed a level beyond ordinary magic, it could bring trouble for him. Now, he would wait a bit before acting, until he was strong enough to protect himself even from the ministry.

After reallocating all the points acquired in the system over the last weeks with the weekly training and the level-up points, his body began to have more energy while he felt much later...

'This is amazing... much better than before...' Snape murmured internally, feeling his physical strength explode.

"Let's train more the magical area I'm developing..." He concluded while taking his wand out of his inventory. Moving his wand to one side, it began to glow with his movement while an electric force came out of it with blue lightning.

'Since I learned to use lightning magic, my Avada Kedavra is also changing...' Snape remembered the fight he had with the woman who was the daughter of Count Dracula, his death magic behaved like lightning.

He began to focus on his lightning, which was being created by the air while emitting a bolt at that moment. This bolt flew in an instant, hitting a training dummy.

Satisfied, he couldn't help but think about the next steps, "Well, it looks like I will have to see the Prince family next year," Snape murmured, pleased looking at his great progress in the storm march, something that few attempted, which had a power as deadly as a Killing Curse and could be even more penetrating and faster. "Great, perfect for my next steps."

He looked at his level and had not yet reached level 45, but was close to the 40s. He needed to evolve and reach such a level before school ended.

"Well, it looks like I will have to spend the next few weeks in the Forbidden Forest," he murmured. It was more than time to return to that place, go after those witches and giant spiders to achieve all the levels he needed. A thousand of them seemed quite useful to accomplish this, since, during the holidays, he intends to go after that painting, even if he loses it at the auction, and even if he has to face the fearsome Dracula.

'Let's make these last few weeks really count at the end of this year... so that by the final exams, I only have to worry about reaching level 45...' He thought with determination there.
