Synopsis

Jake and Leo are two friends who love playing Dungeons and Dragons. One night, after a drunken party, they decide to try out a new virtual reality game based on their favorite hobby. They have no idea what they are getting into. They soon find out that they are not just playing a game, but living it. They are transported to another world where they become their D&D avatars: a monk and a summoner, and a sorcerer and a monk. But this is no ordinary fantasy world. It is a multiverse where different worlds are connected by portals, and where powerful beings called champions rule over them. Jake and Leo are not the only ones who have been trapped in this game. They meet other players who have become their avatars, and some who have gone rogue and turned into villains. To get back home, they have to hunt down these rogue avatars and champions and collect their tokens. But it won’t be easy. They will face dangers and enemies from different worlds, and they will have to use their magic, their martial arts, and their summoned creatures to survive. Will they make it back home, or will they be stuck in the game forever?

The sun was shining brightly over New York City, as two college students exited the Pace University campus. They had just finished their last day of classes, and they were ready to celebrate.

Pace University was a private institution that offered a variety of programs in business, arts, sciences, health, law, and education. It had campuses in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Westchester County. The Manhattan campus was located in the heart of the city, near Wall Street, City Hall, and the Brooklyn Bridge.

"Hey, Leo, what should we do to celebrate?" Jake asked his best friend. He had shoulder-length hair tied in a ponytail, similar to a samurai. He wore a black leather jacket over a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

"I don't know, man. What do you want to do?" Leo replied. He had a hairstyle that was a cross between a mohawk and a barber cut. He wore a red hoodie over a black tank top and cargo pants.

"I don't know either." Jake admitted. "Let's just have some fun."

They laughed and started playing patty cake like they used to do when they were kids. They slapped each other's hands rhythmically until Leo suddenly slapped Jake's face.

"Ow! What was that for?" Jake exclaimed, rubbing his cheek.

"That's for being a nerd." Leo said, grinning.

"Oh, yeah? Well, you're a nerd too." Jake said, and slapped Leo back.

"Hey!" Leo protested. "No fair!"

They chased each other around the sidewalk, dodging pedestrians and cars. They didn't care about the strange looks and whispers they got from the people around them. They were used to being called weirdos. They didn't care what others thought of them. They only cared about having fun together.

After leaving the campus, Jake and Leo decided to go to Central Park. They rented a tandem bike and rode around the park, enjoying the fresh air and the green scenery. They stopped by the lake and fed some ducks, then went to the zoo and watched the animals. They also played frisbee with strangers and had a picnic on the grass.

They had a lot of fun at the park, but they wanted to do more. They returned the bike and took the subway to Times Square. They walked around the busy streets, admiring the bright lights and the billboards. They went to a mall and browsed through some shops, buying some snacks and souvenirs. They also tried on some silly costumes and took some selfies.

They left the mall and went to an arcade. They played some video games, competing with each other and with other players. They also played some air hockey, pinball, and skee ball. They won some tickets and exchanged them for some prizes.

Next they went to a motorcycle rental shop. They rented two motorcycles and rode around the city, feeling the wind in their hair and the adrenaline in their veins. They raced each other on the streets, weaving through traffic and honking at pedestrians. They also did some stunts and tricks, impressing some people and annoying others.

They had a lot of thrill at the motorcycles, but they wanted to do more. They returned the motorcycles and finally went to a bar. They ordered some drinks and got drunk. They sang some karaoke, danced on the tables, and flirted with some girls. They also got into some arguments, fights, and bets with some guys.

They had a lot of trouble at the bar, they wanted to do more. However, they were too drunk to do anything else. The bouncers threw them out of the bar, telling them to go home and sober up.

"Heyyy, that'sh not fair!" Jake complained, lying on the sidewalk. "We were havin' fun!"

"You call that fun? You almosht got ush killed!" Leo said, sitting next to him.

"You're exshaggeratin'! We were fine!" Jake said, laughing.

"You're delushional! We were washted!" Leo said, laughing too.

"You're washted! You can't even shtand up! Jake said, looking at him.

"Shtand up?" Leo said, looking at him back. "You can't even talk right!"

They laughed harder, then helped each other get up. They decided it was time to head back to their apartment. On their way, they encountered an old man who was running a fortune teller shop. He had a sign that said "Know your destiny for only $10".

"Heyyy, Leo, let'sh try thish!" Jake said, pointing at the shop.

"Try what?" Leo said, squinting at the sign.

"Thish!" Jake said, dragging him to the shop.

"Fortune tellin'?" Leo said, rolling his eyes. "That'sh a shcam!"

"Come on!" Jake whined. "It'll be fun!"

"Fun?" Leo said, shaking his head. "It'll be a washte of money!"

"Pleashe!" Jake begged. "I wanna try it!"

"Fine!" Leo gave in. "But only becaushe you're my friend!"

They entered the tent, where the old man greeted them with a smile.

"Welcome!" he said. "I can tell you your past, present and future for only $10 each!"

Jake handed him $20.

"I wanna know my future!" he said eagerly.

"And I wanna know hish future too!" Leo said sarcastically.

The old man nodded and took their palms.

"Let me shee…" he said, examining their lines. The fortune teller smiled mysteriously as he looked at Jake and Leo's palms. He had a wrinkled face, a long beard and a turban. He wore a colorful robe and a lot of jewelry. He sat behind a small table with a crystal ball, some tarot cards and some candles. The tent was dimly lit and smelled of incense.

"Ah, I shee you are two young men with great potential." He said in a thick accent. "You have bright futuresh ahead of you."

"Reeeally?" Jake asked eagerly. He was always curious about his destiny.

"Pffft." Leo snorted. He didn't believe in fortune telling.

"Yes, reeeally." The fortune teller said. "You are both very talented and creative. You have many skills and interests. You are also very adventuroush and brave. You like to explore new thingsh and have fun."

"That shounds like ush." Jake said, nodding.

"That shounds like crap." Leo said, shaking his head.

The fortune teller ignored Leo's remark and continued.

"You are also very loyal and caring. You have a shtrong bond of friendship that will lasht forever. You will always shupport each other and help each other."

"That'sh true." Jake said, smiling at Leo.

"That'sh cheesy." Leo said, rolling his eyes at Jake.

The fortune teller looked at Jake's palm more closely.

"I shee you are also very romantic. You have a big heart and a lot of love to give. You will meet your shoulmate shoon. She will be beautiful, shmart and kind. She will love you as much as you love her."

"Wow, reeeally?" Jake asked, blushing.

"Wow, lame." Leo said, mocking.

"Yes, reeeally." The fortune teller said. "But she will not be eashy to get. You will have to work hard to win her over. You will have to prove yourshelf worthy of her love. You will have to face many challengesh and obstaclesh before you can be with her."

"Like what?" Jake asked, intrigued.

"Like what?" Leo asked, amused.

The fortune teller looked at Leo's palm more closely.

"I shee you are not very romantic. You have a small heart and not much love to give. You will meet your shoulmate shoon too. She will be beautiful, shmart and kind too. She will love you deshpite your flaws."

Leo's eyes widened in surprise.

"Wait, what?" He asked, confused.

Jake burst out laughing.

"Ha! How doesh it feel to be in my shoesh?" He asked, teasing.

The fortune teller smiled and said.

"But she will not be eashy to get either. You will have to work hard to win her over too. You will have to prove yourshelf worthy of her love too. You will have to face many challengesh and obstaclesh too before you can be with her."

"Like what?" Leo asked, annoyed.

The fortune teller looked at both of their palms again.

He then leaned closer to them and whispered in their ears.

"How would you like to have a life of adventure? A life full of magic, danger and wonder? A life where you can be anyone you want to be?"

Jake and Leo looked at each other with drunken grins.

"Yesh!" They said in unison.

They didn't notice the eyes of the fortune teller transforming into something eldritch.

"What do you want to be?" The fortune teller asked them.

Jake wished to become his avatar in the Dnd which is a monk summoner while Leo followed his lead and wanted to become a monk sorcerer.

"Where do you want to go?" The fortune teller asked them.

Jake and Leo then said at the same time they wanted to go everywhere and whenever.

The fortune teller smiled wickedly and started speaking in an unknown language as wind picked up causing a strong gust.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn." The fortune teller said.

(Over the limit (dead), still dreaming, Cthulhu, (at) R'lyeh, (in) the residential place (palace), lies.)

"Y'ha-nthlei n'gha syha'h, y'hah n'ghft." He continued.

(The sunken city is not dead, it is dreaming.)

"Yog-Sothoth ng'ah hupadgh n'gha, ngah'ehye nog orr'e." He added.

(Yog-Sothoth knows the gate, he is the gate.)

"Ngah'ehye nog orr'e, ngah'ehye nog lw'nafh." He went on.

(He is the gate, he is the key.)

"Ngah'ehye nog lw'nafh, ngah'ehye nog sll'ha." He said.

(He is the key, he is the guardian.)

"Ngah'ehye nog sll'ha, ngah'ehye nog kadishtu." He finished.

(He is the guardian, he is the master.)

After that, the fortune teller faded. Both Jake and Leo just stared and thought it was time to head home as clearly they were too drunk, never realizing what transpired was real.

Jake and Leo stumbled into their apartment, still drunk and laughing. They threw their jackets on the couch and went to their bedrooms. They took out their VR headsets and put them on.

"Heyyy, Leo, let'sh play one lasht game before we go to bed." Jake said through the headset.

"Shure, why not?" Leo said. "What game do you wanna play?"

"How about Dungeonsh and Dragonsh?" Jake said. "We can ushe our avatarsh from the lasht shession."

"Shoundsh good to me." Leo said. "I'll be the blond guy, and you'll be the white guy."

"Okay, let'sh do it." Jake said. "Ready?"

"Ready." Leo said.

They pressed start on their headsets, expecting to enter a virtual fantasy world.

But instead, they felt a powerful surge of electricity that ran through their bodies. They screamed in pain and passed out.

Jake was the first to wake up. He opened his eyes and blinked. He felt a headache and nausea. He looked around and saw that he was not in his bedroom. He was not in his apartment. He was not in New York.

He was in a forest.

He saw trees, grass, flowers and birds. He smelled fresh air and earth. He heard water and wind.

He was confused and scared.

He tried to take off his headset, but he couldn't. It was gone.

He tried to remember what happened, but he couldn't. His memory was fuzzy.

He felt something move next to him. He turned his head and saw a figure lying on the ground.

Leo groaned and opened his eyes. He also felt a headache and a nausea. He looked around and saw that he was no longer in his room.

His memory was also fuzzy. What did they do last night?

He saw something move next to him. He turned his head and saw someone looking at him.

Jake and Leo didn't recognize each other. Because they didn't look like themselves.

They looked like their avatars.

Jake had short white hair with split bangs and glowing yellow eyes. He wore a purple robe with silver trimmings and a silver belt. He had a staff in his hand and a backpack on his back. He looked like a royal wizard.

Leo had short blond hair with golden earrings and glowing yellow eyes. He wore golden armor with red trimmings and a red cape. He had a sword in his hand and a shield on his arm. He looked like a royal warrior King.

They stared at each other in silence for a few seconds.

Then they screamed in terror as they pointed fingers at each other. "I SLEPT WITH A DUDE!?"
