Horrors Unknown | SHORTS

There’s nothing scarier than the unknown. This book compiles all sorts of short horror stories, in all styles and formats. These short stories have no correlation or connection to any short stories from any other chapter, unless the chapter is episodic (meaning they come in individual parts), and have the same title as the last. I recommend checking out the most recent chapters for the FRESHEST short stories Have you ever wanted to post a short story somewhere but have nowhere to put it? Well this is the perfect place! You can submit a story in the community discord (https://discord.gg/jX5SAAXBkx) I'm not sure how you guys will review this since most of these short stories are completely separate from each other, so sorry about that lmao

Mr. RedShirt Part 2

I looked through a familiar one-sided window, right at a white man with a red shirt, jeans, baggy eyes, and curly hair. I got a sense of deja vu looking at the man.

"So um." My partner said, flipping through pages of papers. "You've got… Kirk Laughlin in there, suspected of a repeat offender of murder, theft, and… oh here's a new one! Drug use!" He read off the paper.

"Oh, fascinating!" I said sarcastically. "Are there any serious new offenses?"

"Not that I can find here." He said.

I looked back up. The man was just staring at the wall like he did the last time I saw him. His blank stare was almost kind of scary. If it weren't for his innocent face, Id've been scared to walk into the room.

I filled my coffee mug before leaving. I could already tell I'd need it. I left the room, sipping my coffee, and going next door and opening it. This time, I just stood at the doorway. The man didn't turn his head to look at me, but he kept staring at the wall.

I then took one step inside and suddenly he looked at me. I got goosebumps when he looked at me. He then smiled innocently at me.

"So what did you do this time huh?" I asked as I walked over to the metal table. "You stole any weapons, or murdered anyone, Kirk?"

"Nope, but I did get caught using heroin!" He said.

"Ah, so you admit it."

He frowned. "Admit what?"

I sat down in the seat, remembering what happened last time.

"Nothing really." I said. "Just that you did heroin."

"Who said I did heroin?" He asked.

"Well… I mean… you."

"I said I used it, I didn't do it." He clarified, but it didn't make sense to me.

"So you're saying you USED heroin, but didn't do it? What do you mean by that?"

"I didn't inject myself with it!"

I scowled at him. His honesty disgusted me. I had never seen a criminal be so outgoing about their crimes, to a cop no less!

"Then who did you inject with it?" I asked.

"A little boy." He told me without even thinking about it.

I had no idea what to say. He had once again admitted to someone so absurd, but equally terrifying. "I'll be right back." I said, leaving the room quickly.

I went back to the room my partner was in. Of course he was asleep at the desk. I shook him awake. He was a little disoriented not exactly knowing where he was. "You really got to stop sleeping on the job." I told him.

"What's the problem?" He asked drowsily, rubbing his eye.

"Go back in the camera recording about 30 seconds." I told him.

He clicked the left arrow key a couple times and I once again saw myself staring eerily at the camera.

"I know for a fact I was not staring at the camera!" I said.

"Well according to the camera, you were." My partner said.

"This is so weird."

"Tell me about it."

"I am."

I walked back into the room that Kirk was in, but I stood at the door. I stood still, and turned to the camera, and stared. Kirk didn't move. He kept staring at the wall as if I wasn't there. I then looked at Kirk, and like looking at him was some sort of trigger, he awoke from his unconscious state of being and looked at me.

"Hello!" He said, like he was excited to see me. To be honest, it freaked me out a little.

I walked out of the room and went back to my partner who looked at me weirdly.

"Why did you leave so early?" He asked.

"Let him go." I said. "I'm not interrogating him from here on."

"What?"

"Let him go."

I packed my stuff and left the room, leaving the station as soon as I could. Something about that man was of. Kirk Laughlin is quite the character, but he's not someone I should be getting involved with. I can sense something mysterious about him, something sinister. I mean the things he admits to, the things he says, they're horrible. But I can never prove he says these things, the camera footage is deleted from the computers. There's something wrong. That's why I quit.
