Chapter 5: Recording Begins

"Ok good to go, you can start now!" Henry put his thumbs up to signal Ethan.

Henry, Rachel, Noah, Peter, Amanda, and Ryan were watching Ethan who was inside the recording room.

Seeing the signal, Ethan began singing. The first recording was the first song he sang while busking, Photograph. 

"Loving can hurt, loving can hurt sometimes...But it's the only thing that I know.."

"He's good, just the first sentence was enough for me to deduce his level," Peter commented.

The six of them were all music enthusiasts and has a good eye for those who are blessed with talent in music. Thus hearing just the first sentence already sent chills course through their bodies.

"When it gets hard, you know it can get hard sometimes...It is the only thing that makes us feel alive..."

"We keep this love in a photograph, We made these memories for ourselves, Where our eyes are never closing, Hearts are never broken, And time's forever frozen still.."

"Just how did he come up with these lyrics?" Amanda asked unsure while understanding how deep the lyrics were.

"So you can keep me inside the pocket of your ripped jeans holding me closer 'til our eyes meet you won't ever be alone, wait for me to come home..."

"Truly a masterpiece, this is the first time I heard someone describing a photograph this deep ya know?" Peter commented.

"Loving can heal, loving can mend your soul...and it's the only thing that I know.."

"I swear it will get easier remember that with every piece of ya.."

"And it's the only thing we take with us when we die... we keep this love in this photograph we made these memories for ourselves, where our eyes are never closing, hearts were never broken, and time's forever frozen, still.."

"So you can keep me inside the pocket of your ripped jeans holding me closer 'til our eyes meet you won't ever be alone.."

Rachel still had a crumpled paper of her and her mother's photograph that she put in her wallet. 

"And if you hurt me that's okay, baby, only words bleed inside these pages, you hold me and I won't ever let you go..."

"Wait for me to come home...Wait for me to come home...Wait for me to come home...Wait for me to come home.."

"Oh, you can fit me inside the necklace, you got when you were sixteen next to your heartbeat where I should be keep it deep within your soul.."

"And if you hurt me well, that's okay, baby, only words bleed inside these pages, you just hold me and I won't ever let you go.."

"When I'm away, I will remember how you kissed me under the lamppost back on Sixth Street hearing you whisper through the phone 'Wait for me to come home'..."

After Ethan finished singing, he walked out of the record room to drink some lukewarm water.

"That was amazing! You should rest your voice, then let's record the next song!" Henry enthusiastically said.

"That was amazing Ethan!" Noah praised clapping his hand in happiness. "With this Henry, you can add the other details of the song! Then we can upload it on ITube!"

Noah was already making plans, while Ethan was resting his head on the sofa.

After a few minutes of resting, Ethan stood up and the second song's recording was about to begin. Ethan stood holding the headphones as he began to sing.

"Walking down 29th and Park I saw you in another's arms.."

"Only a month we've been apart...You look happier..."

[Vocals: C+]

Ethan was singing while looking at his current vocal grade. Although the song he was singing was relatively easy, he wondered what would happen if he tried to create songs with more complexity. In addition, he believed that a B grade in vocals would result in a better stage performance than a C grade.

"Saw you walk inside a bar...He said somethin' to make you laugh.."

"I saw that both your smiles were twice as wide as ours...Yeah, you look happier, you do...Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you but ain't nobody need you like I do.."

"Heok....this is just like my first girlfriend.." Peter solemnly said wiping his tears off. "What?" Peter asked seeing Amanda and Rachel giving him a deadpanned expression.

"Promise that I will not take it personal, baby...If you're movin' on with someone new.."

"'Cause baby you look happier, you do...My friends told me one day I'll feel it too...And until then I'll smile to hide the truth but I know I was happier with you.."

"Sat in the corner of the room everything's reminding me of you.."

"There it goes again.." Peter said still wiping his tears off while Amanda and Rachel watched him. "Can't a man cry?"

"Nursing an empty bottle and telling myself you're happier, aren't you?"

"Oh, ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you.."

"But ain't nobody need you like I do...I know that there's others that deserve you...But my darlin', I am still in love with you..."

"But I guess you look happier, you do...My friends told me one day I'll feel it too...I could try to smile to hide the truth but I know I was happier with you..."

"Cause baby, you look happier, you do...I knew one day you'd fall for someone new but if he breaks your heart like lovers do...Just know that I'll be waitin' here for you..."

As the song finished, and Ethan finally could rest the six employees burst into applause for his performance.

"Bravo! Bravo!" Noah commented.

"That was good, I thought that you would make a mistake but that went better than I expected," Henry said, it was normal for musicians to make a mistake here and there but Ethan sang the song perfectly without any flaws.

"So for now let's add some other details to make the music blossom!" Henry shooed the others away while he, Noah, and Ethan worked on the music.
