Chapter 7

Bilal

"Is my schedule clear for today's evening " I asked signing the last file.

"Yes, Sir. And I have made the reservation for your meeting with ma'am. It's according to her liking."

"Good" I took my suit jacket and left office.

She hates it when someone is not punctual. I wouldn't dare make her upset.

I drove to her favourite restaurant. It is in the outskirts of the town so not many people visit that place.

That's one reason why she likes that place. And other, well they do have great food.

I checked time as soon as I reached restaurant. I am on time!

I saw her siting on the same table as soon I reached.

I greeted as I sat and she smiled.

"Hey, how have you been?" I asked as I removed my jacket.

"About to die" she said glaring at me.

"I told you to make a move, didn't I?" I looked at her apologetically.

"I have been trying but I don't know how to tell them. Please this is the last time I am asking for help. Please! Help me. Just help me tell them" she sighed.

She ordered food for us. I believe her when it comes to food. She is such a foodie but still, she has a good figure. That's because she's always regular with her workout.

"I will leave the day after tomorrow so I will talk to them tomorrow, do want me to do it today?" She asked serving me.

"Let's go to them after dinner" she nodded.

We talked while having food then left for our destination. We kept talking during the whole ride. She is not a funny person yet she always tries to make other people laugh.

We entered once we reached there.

"Hey, Old man" she greeted him as soon as she saw him and settled beside him.

"Hey, what are you doing here Niyati? And who is old here?" He asked and looked around.

"Dad, only you are old here." I laughed and sat opposite them.

"You are right. He is an old man" mom said coming out of the kitchen and sitting beside Niyati making her sit in the middle.

"Hey, Aunty. How are you?"

"I am fine. What brought you here today?"

"Today I am here for a very important matter. I really love how you guys treat me like your own daughter but don't you think you should actually have your own daughter." She bit her tongue after she realized what she said.

Their eyes widened at what she said. She cleared her throat and continued " What I mean is you should marry your son and have a daughter-in-law and she will be like your own daughter."

They sighed in relief and then laughed "Don't you think we want this young man married but he always says that I am not ready."

"He is ready now and I have found a daughter-in-law for you. Well, technically he is the one who found her. It's a long story I will tell you some other time but right now I want you guys to do something for him" they were really shocked by her words.

"He found a girl. Are they in a relationship? When did this happen? How did they meet?" My mother asked in one breath while my father was too shocked to ask anything.

"I will tell you everything but not now. They are not in a relationship. But if you don't do anything now then she will become someone else's wife and then your son will become a heartbroken workaholic. So if you don't want that to happen then listen to me and cooperate."

Workaholic and me? They don't fit in the same sentence. I work my ass off but I am not a workaholic. Isn't that same? stupid brain

Heartbroken? Yeah. That is for sure. I have felt that once but I don't want to feel that again.

"Okay, tell us what you want us to do? And you have some explaining to do." Dad said glaring at me.

"This envelope has her details that you need to know and I will help you to contact her parents as soon as possible. She's already met a guy today but fortunately, he is rejected." She said giving them an office envelope.

Where did she get my office envelope? She must have asked my assistant for the details.

"Why was he rejected?" My mother asked taking an interest.

Women and gossip. Huh! They can never change.

"He was her first crush or love who had a crush on me but was rejected by me." She shrugged and took out her mobile.

"Really? Did he propose to you? Is he still interested in you?" She didn't answer and looked here and there just to avoid this topic.

"I think I should leave. It's getting late" she said getting up.

I got up to drop her off. She looked at me once we got into the car.

I raised my eyebrow "Tell them to find some connections first so that it will be easier for me to introduce you guys. I will call Di now to tell her about you guys."

She took out her mobile and dialled her number. She

answered after some time. She put the call on speaker.

"Hi, Di" (Di=elder sister)

"Hi, everything okay?"

"Yeah, I just know someone and I want you guys to meet them for Khushi. I know this guy quite well and I think she will like him too. So I want you to ask uncle and aunty and if they agree then I will talk to them too. I will send his details to you tomorrow."

"Okay."

"Okay, Bye."

She gave me a thumbs-up sign and I started the engine. This time we both were silent. I was thinking about tomorrow. I was not so sure about her. She's always been like a sister to me. I am a single child so it was really boring during holidays at home. I never had many friends. I have always envied her for having such great friends. But I am also thankful to have her.

We were neighbours and that's how we met. But I am not sure when we became this close.

She used to try her best to give me company whenever she was home.

We know each other's families but our families are not so close. Her family is not even aware of us being so close and that she treats me like her brother.

I am elder than her and I was good at studies so she used studies as an excuse to come to my house.

I came back after dropping her off and slept while anticipating about tomorrow.
