Chapter 14

Hunter's POV

Today has been extremely busy with the funeral preparation.

My sister got everything covered and the ceremony will be held at night.

Multiple family members fill up the house giving their condolences to me, my mom, and my sister.

We have our third cousins from the Arctic region. They have a huge pack and don't show up at family events or social events unless necessary.

We have our second cousins from the Philippines we are also not that close with them but we do communicate to update each other.

We are close with our first cousins though from our mother's side. Our aunt, Aunty Marissa is like a second mom to us.

We would stay with her for weeks on end whenever my mom and dad would fight so my mom would drop us off there until the situation at home is neutralized.

My sister and I got used to the fact that we only have each other in this world.

Walking into the living room I find a man in a black suit and a briefcase with my sister and mother sitting together. I take a seat on one of the couches and lean back. "What is going on?"

"Your father's lawyer is here to read out the will."

"Is it not a bit too soon, I mean we haven't even gotten the chance to lay his body to rest."

"Yes, but your father wanted me to read out the will as soon as his body goes cold." The man replies.

"So that makes you his lawyer right?"

"Yes, you can call me Gavin."

He presses play on the tv and a video of my father comes on.

The video includes the illness my father has been carrying for about six years and how he kept it a secret to protect my sister and me.

He then goes on to apologize to my sister for his behavioral issues and how he reacted when she decided to marry a mere mortal. Truth is my sister never hated my dad for that she was just disappointed, with that being said she decided it was best for her and dad to have some well-deserved space, not knowing that that space would go on for years on end. She does regret her decision, not the part about sacrificing a relationship with the man she loves I mean he is her mate at the end of the day, but more like not trying to reach out in hopes of our father reaching out at some point which never happend.

Problem is, my dad is a man of pride he will never admit his wrongdoings, he will never apologize and he is always the last man on the battlefield wins kind of man.

I can say that I get some of my traits from him, not that I am proud of them or anything but now that I have met my mate, my true love, I do believe I will change into a better man just for her.

I don't think I could survive without her in my life. She is my everything.

The video was right about 15 minutes long and ended quite quickly. I never knew that it would take my father being on his deathbed to apologize for his mistakes and acknowledge them as well but now I know and I will do anything to not be like the man that I call my father.

The man pulls out a file from his briefcase, what I suppose is the will.

He starts by reading out the expenses, taxes, and burial plan then he moves on to the inheritance. I leave our current living estate to my wife, along with the two other estates in Miami and Espen. I also leave five hundred million dollars and my collection of Patek Philippe watches. To my daughter, I leave my collection of art from Belin, my investments in a few companies that will be discussed privately, and cash assets worth fifty million dollars. To my son, I leave my entire collection of cars, my penthouse in new york, the family business, and cash assets of fifty million dollars. I donate 200 million dollars in cash to any six charities of your choosing. I leave any questions to my lawyer Gavin Baker.

We all sit quietly without moving an inch. Gavin breaks the silence by clearing his throat and sliding some documents across the table.

"I need everyone to sign here to let me know that they acknowledge and understand the contents inside this will." he takes out a pen and my mom is the first one to sign, my sister and I sign the paper next in acknowledgment.

"Can each of you set up an appointment with my assistant to come and meet me as soon as possible in my office, here is my business card. It was a pleasure to meet you all and I am truly sorry for your loss."

With that being said he makes his way out of the house with the guidance of one of the housekeepers.

"I didn't even know Dad would ever include me in his will." my sister says in a shocked manner.

"Oh honey." my mother scooches closer to her and puts my sister's hands in her own in comfort. "I know that you and your father never had a good relationship for the past few years but in his heart you always were and you will always be daddy's little girl. He loved you wholeheartedly and unconditionally and he always knew how much you loved art, especially his Belin collection. And even after you left and had one of those restless nights he continued your tradition and would pour himself a glass of milk and take a seat in the gallery just to stare at the paintings, because even if he never admitted it, he missed you."

My mother and sister were now both in tears and resting in each other's arms. I decided to give them some space and go up to my room and call Lilith.
