Mom knows the truth

I was so angry with Nigel for pranking me. I stood rooted to my spot, looking stupid. Nolan wasn't bothered that I was pranked. He joined Nigel and Ella to tease me. I frowned. "It's not funny. You made me run all the way here only to find out it was a prank?"

Ella chuckled. "I tried to stop you. But you were so determined to fight, you wouldn't stop to listen"

"She is only trying to save her weak mate" Nolan answered

I batted my lashes. He still remembered I called him weak?. "About that. I'm so sorry I had to call you weak. I was..."

Nolan raised an eyebrow. "You were drunk?"

I frowned. "No, I wasn't in a good mood"

He scoffed. "Was there any day you were ever in a good mood?"

"I am always in a good mood. You're the one who always gets me pissed off"

He frowned. "Are you trying to blame me for your mood swing"

"I don't have a mood swing"

"Well to me, you do"

Nigel chuckled. "Someone is finally having a couple's fight"

I furrowed my brows. What is he talking about?. "This isn't a couple's fight" Nolan defended.

Nigel shrugged. "Well to me it is"

I rolled my eyes. I turned to leave but Ella stopped me. "Where are you going?"

I frowned. "As you can see, I'm leaving"

She furrowed her brows. "I thought you were having a conversation with Nolan. I mean a couple's fight"

She chuckled and I groaned. "We ain't having a couple's fight as you and Nigel calls it"

Ella smiled. "Well, I think you both look cute together"

"I would have supported but I can't let her kill my friend" Nigel answered

I frowned. "There is nothing cute about her," Nolan said.

I wasn't bothered about what Nigel and Ella said but was so much bothered when Nolan made his comment. I clenched my fit. "What did you say?"

"There is nothing cute about you. Or is there?"

I frowned. I wanted to punch him hard on his face and let him spit out blood. But thinking about him bleeding, made me change my mind. I rolled my eyes and loosen my fist. "I will pretend not to hear you". I turned and left the garden.

I decided to take a stroll, to see how much work had been done in the places which were affected by the battle. Dad had gone out with his beta on a mission. He had refused to disclose what the mission was all about. Mom was in her room, sleeping while Ella as usual stayed back in school with Nigel and the rest. I still do not understand what business Ella had with them. At first, I had thought she had a thing for Nigel but now, she hardly spent time with Nigel. She spent most of the time with Nolan. I wanted to think something was going on between those two but I kept telling myself not to read more into their closeness. But who wouldn't?. You either see them laughing or whispering to themselves. Sometimes, my wolf would whine and I would feel she was trying to get out of me. I could feel her anger and her pain. I knew she wanted me to accept our mate. I could feel her wanting to hold him, anytime I stay close to him.

I sighed. Even though my wolf wants our mate so badly, I couldn't bring myself to accept him. He's weak!!. What will others say when they find out I am been mated to a weak alpha?. They would want to use him as my weak point. I frowned. Why will the moon goddess punish me with a weak mate?. Am I not good enough?. Why can't she give me the ruthless alpha as my mate and had decided to give me Nolan, who can't defend himself? My wolf won't let me reject him completely. The day I rejected him, I could feel my wolf's pain. She was so calm and wouldn't speak to me. I brushed my hair backward. I've got less than three weeks to either accept Nolan or reject him.

"Olive" someone called, bringing me back to reality

I turned. "Mom?"

She walked closer to me. "What are you doing out here alone?"

I chuckled. "Having a quiet time, I guess"

She frowned. "And where is Ella?"

I rolled my eyes. "At school"

"Are you both fighting?. You hardly return to the packhouse together"

"We are not fighting mom. We are cool. She only got more pressing issues"

"Issues you can't resolve with her?"

"Mom, they are personal issues"

She turned. "Come with me. We need to talk"

I groaned. "Mom, there is nothing to talk about"

She frowned. "We have a lot to talk about. Now follow me"

I followed behind her, sluggishly. We got to mom room and she opened the door. I followed her in, wondering what she wanted us to talk about. She sat on the bed and gestured for me to sit beside her. "Tell me, how about your mate"

I rolled my eyes. "Mom, I told you I rejected him"

"And I told you to change your mind

"I can't change my mind. He's weak"

Mom frowned. "Weak?. How do you classify a weak person?"

I batted my lashes. "I don't know. A person who can't defend himself is weak"

"How do you know he can't defend himself?"

"I have saved him so many times. I also saved him some years ago"

Mom batted her lashes. "You saved him some years ago?"

I frowned at myself for saying that loud. "Did I say that?"

"You'd better start talking"

I rolled my eyes. "Remember the boy I saved some years ago?"

She furrowed her brows. "The one attacked by some rogues?". I nodded. "He's your mate?". I nodded and she blinked. "Which pack is he from?"

I groaned. Here comes, the part I dreaded most. "He's from...". I frowned. I can't tell her where he comes from. "He's from..."

"Didn't you tell me the guy you saved was from the fire pack?"

I blinked. She remembered that?. I rolled my eyes. "Yes"

"And your mate, which happens to be an alpha is the same you saved some years ago". I nodded but frowned. She was trying to connect the dot. Since I had refused to let her the truth. She raised her hand as if she was about to count numbers. "If your mate is an alpha and he is the same person you saved some years back, that makes him thee...". She gasped. "The alpha of the fire pack. She faced me and frowned. "That's my friend's son"

I rolled my eyes. "I know"

"You know?. And you kept it from me?"

"I don't want you freaking out like you're doing already"

"I'm not freaking out. I just can't believe you hid it from me. I thought we do talk"

I sighed. "We do talk, mom. I just don't want to bother you"

"You are not bothering me. You should always talk to me"

I nodded. "I will"

"You haven't told me what's going on between you and Ella"

I sighed. "She spent so much time with Nolan and Nigel. She's neglecting me"

"Who are Nolan and Nigel?"

"Nolan is my mate's name and Nigel, he is Nolan's friend"

"Did you ask her, why she spent more time with them?"

"I did. She hasn't given me any good reason"

She sighed. "When Ella comes back, tell her I want to see you both". I nodded. "You should go to your room. I need to sort out some things"

I stood up. "Thanks, mom. For being there for me"

She smiled. "You know I love you right?"

"Yes, mom. And I love you too"
