Sale Of Shares

Luke woke up early in the morning and prepared breakfast for Beatrice.

He wanted to be there for her like a good husband should. He was a pretty good cook but didn't like cooking at all, he would sometimes rather starve than to cook food himself, but today he was trying to be a good husband.

"I never thought I would see this day come" said a very emotional voice, Luke wasn't expecting to hear it so he was a bit surprised.

"Aren't you supposed to be busy, Like really really busy?"

He asked with a frown on his face. He didn't really think Lucy would have that kind of time.

"I'm in the starting process of the building process which does not require my full attention all the time, so I still have a few time gaps I can be active".

Luke wanted to ask him about his wife but Lucy answered before he could say anything.

"She's innocent and knows nothing about the tax evasion.

She was schemed against by Steve, one of the directors of the company who has been planning to swallow the company whole for a very long time and a person she never doubted could betray her.

The charges levelled against her are true, all the charges and crimes committed were done behind her back for that I can assure you, she had no knowledge of it.

But since she's the head of the company she will be held responsible for the charges, but seeing her sleeping peacefully upstairs means you pulled some strings because there's no way she could have come home with those charges.

Luke wasn't paying attention to Lucy's mumblings, all he needed to hear was that his wife had nothing to do with the charges.

He wanted to follow up with another question but before he could ask anything else he lost his connection with Lucy.

Sigh.

Beatrice came downstairs and saw the variety of food laid on the table.

She had woke up late and had rushed down stairs to prepare breakfast but Luke was already in the kitchen doing it.

She then remembered that it was the same last night.

When Luke saw her standing there in a daze he smiled and went forward to drag her to the table and started spoon feeding her.

"You don't have to explain anything to me, I believe you are innocent, so you should eat and gather your strength because you will need it to fight on.

When she heard his words of encouragement, she started shedding tears once again but this time there was no fear or panic only the will to keep fighting.

Luke smiled and continued to feed her.

After they had their breakfast, Beatrice prepared herself and took her car keys ready to leave for work.

"Do you need me to come with you?" Luke asked leaning on the door.

"No I have to face this alone" she replied firmly. Luke did not push it further since he also knew she had to overcome on her own.

He knew Beatrice was an independent woman so he gave up and let her pass.

"No matter what happens today, I will protect you and make sure you don't lose anything"

When Beatrice heard Luke considerate words she smiled, though she knew he couldn't do anything to help it was still comforting to hear.

She nodded and left the house.

"you would definitely get through this, like she has always does, but now you are my wife it would be different" he said softly and then went silent.

Luke stood there for a good three minutes debating on how to deal with Steve without making it look like he was deliberately targeting him.

"What have the authorities decided as punishment?" he asked seemingly talking to no one.

"It's not looking good for Mrs Arckhman, though the president intervened and stopped them from giving her a prison sentence, they've still decided to force her to sell a large percentage of her shares as stated by the country's law.

A man clad in black technological armour appeared behind Luke and reported, he's body almost seemed like an illusion and facial features unrecognizable, blue light pattern moved on the surface of the armour suit.

Luke sighed, though it might look like a very soft punishment it was also very cruel since they were forcing her to give up her rights and control over the company.

"Without her shares she's nothing within the company" Luke muttered.

Mrs Arckhman vice chairman seems to be the leading person with the financial power to purchase the most of her shares,

It would be safe to assume that he would be the new chairman after the day is over" the man clad in the advanced armour added.

Luke smirked and picked his phone from the table and dialled his secretary's number.

"Begin the acquisition of Beauty Foundation after 24 hours, I want it done before the sun set tomorrow"

"Will be done" his secretary replied before she hang up.

When Beatrice got to the meeting room in Beauty Foundation, the paperwork had already been done and completed by the Revenue authority officials and her company.

All they needed was her signature for the transfer of shares to be completed.

She gathered her courage and signed the papers without even reading through it because all this was finalized yesterday's night at the Authorities HQ.

She was given a choice between going to prison and losing her shares or selling her shares in the company and avoiding prison.

She knew they were being lenient on her so she didn't really have a choice but to agree.

After everything was done, the tax officers shook hands with Steve and congratulated him, "Make sure that you pay your tax and avoid shady businesses.

Since it's all been done, then we will take our leave"

After they left all the board members started giving their congratulations and sucking up to Steve totally ignoring Beatrice.

Steve didn't pay attention to any of them as he had his sight all on Beatrice.

A sinister smirk appeared on his face.
