Career, life and love

Amy approached her as she was coming out of her bathroom after a long bubble bath. She had no plans for today since she had no schedules until Monday. She was thinking of either just watching a movie or reading a book.

Edward had a lot of scheduled surgery today until next week, so going out with him was out of the question.

"A friend of yours called just a minute ago," Amy said as she handed her phone to her.

"Who?" She asked, thinking of who could it be. "Jacob?" But, he just called earlier to say that he would be busy this weekend too with his tapings.

"Sophia. She just got back for a visit. She will be here for two weeks and would like to see you tonight." She relayed the message she took from her friend.

"Really. That's great." She suddenly felt excited to see her long-time friend. Her modeling career had sent her to Europe this past year, separating them from each other. Back in high school, they were inseparable.

"Did she mentioned where we are meeting tonight?" This was perfect. It would be nice to see her friend and get out of her apartment.

"She mentioned the new club downtown. From what I heard it is a very exclusive club. Invitation only." Amy explained to her.

"That sounds intriguing and exciting." She immediately went to her wardrobe to search for the dress she would wear tonight.

"Please bring Mike with you. You still need protection despite what you think." Amy said concernedly and with a hint of a warning.

She was right. Despite the issue about my scandal subsiding down and my career plummeting down with it. I was still a bit famous and people still tend to flock my way.

"Ok. Tell him that he would be driving me down the club." She told Amy, which appeared to be satisfied with her decision.

The rest of the day, she decided to immerse herself in a sci-fi thriller movie and some horror genres too, which made Amy cringed in fright. Amy eventually decided to leave for the grocery to buy some of her supplies. She somehow managed to learn more cooking techniques, deciding to prepare her food when she was home.

When it was time to leave for the club, she checked herself for the last time in the mirror. Seeing a beautiful star in front of her, who was beginning to love her new life. Hoping that it would eventually lead her to her happy ever after. Whatever that was.

At the doorway to the club, there was a long line of wanna-be who wanted entrance inside the prestigious place. The bouncer, upon seeing her, immediately opened the rope that blocked the doorway.

She signaled for Mike to wait for her in the car. She did not need a bodyguard inside. She was sure that she could take care of herself while away from him for a few hours. She prided herself with a new talent under her belt. She learned self-defense. She did not like the feeling of always being at the mercy of another person.

As she entered the dimly lit room, she noticed several famous personalities roaming around the room. Quickly searching for the bar, she found Sophia already waiting for her.

"Sabrina," she shouted in the slightly noisy air as soon as she noticed her walking towards her.

She quickly hugged Sophia, showing her how much she missed her company. She was not around when the scandal happened, but she had sent her love and support many times.

"Sophia, I'm glad that you finally remembered me." She jested. They loved to tease each other. "When did you get back?"

"A couple of days ago." Her friend admitted with a slight hint of guilt.

"You see. Then, you only contacted me now." She said with an accusatory tone in her voice.

She grabbed her by the shoulder and made her look at her. "Let me explain. Ashton forced me to attend this dinner date last night. You know how Ashton can be quite annoying if he doesn't get what he wants." Her friend reasoned.

She certainly knew Ashton, Sophia's brother. She did have a crush on him back when they were in high school, but it eventually faded as the years passed.

"Oh, how is Ashton?" She asked. "Have not heard from him too in a while."

"He is now managing his advertising agency here in LA with her new girlfriend, Melissa," Sophia told her as they sat down on one of the tables reserved for the two of them.

"What about you? George and Marge? Any wedding bells in the making?" Sophia asked.

"You know how complicated my life had been. But, my sisters I think plan to be a spinster too." She jokingly said.

"I'm sorry I was not here to support you, but I'm glad that you finally came to your senses and got rid of Brad." Sophia was not a fan too of my relationship with Brad. Anyway, who would condone such a stupid decision on my part.

"What about your date last night?" She asked curious about the love life of her friend, at the same time, trying to steer the topic away from her scandalous affair.

"I think he is ok. We plan to go out again. See where it would lead, but I doubt it would go far since I am going back to France in another week." She said sadly.

It would seem that her friend did like her date last night from the way she was acting. It had been a while since she had a serious relationship ever since her last boyfriend died of cancer.

"Then, don't give up on it yet. Wait and see if there is something more to it." She encouraged her friend, wanting her to find the right person for her too. She believed that everybody had one that would make them happy as long as you were willing to look for him and fight for it. She just wondered if she had found him and did not notice it.

"Enough about me, what about you? Are you dating or getting serious with someone?" Sophia asked her, genuinely interested to know her status in the love department.

"I'm going out with a doctor. His name is Edward." She confided to Sophia. "He's also working with George at the hospital as a heart surgeon."

"Perfect. He could finally heal your heart problems." Sophia grabbed her hand and shook it like they were in high school.

"Enough of this love and dating." She announced to her. Not sure if she was comfortable talking about her relationship with Edward. "We need some hard drinks here to celebrate your welcome home party."

The waiter brought them their orders as they cheered for each other's success in career, life, and love.
