[Well, this isn't fun.]
Desmond has been falling for the last thirty minutes.
After Desmond accepted the quest, he destroyed the crack, which reveals a huge crater on the ground.
The system was pretty much useless, as it can't sense the depth or the dangers lurking on it. Since the system gave him a quest, he was sure it must be on his level or something.
So without thinking further, he just jumped on it... and has been falling for more than half an hour.
"..."
It was just a straight path, so he was just simply chilling while falling.
[Are you bored?]
"..."
[Oi, answer me?]
"..."
[...Alrighty, why don't we play a game? You can ask anything and I will honestly answer it and I will ask a question and you'll answer it. How about it?]
"Don't you already know all about me?"
[Well, just because I've access to your memory doesn't mean I can read your entire thoughts or your memories. It's very taxing.]
"...Oh, is that so?" He folded his legs and rubbed his chin, deep in thought. "Very well. I'll ask the first question."
[He he. Now we're talking. Bring it on miss panties.]
Desmond ignored the blatant insult and proceed to ask his first question.
"Where were you on your missing days?"
[...]
"..."
[...]
"...What? No answer?"
[...I can't answer that.] The system's sound was solemn. It remembered the warning its lord gave it.
"...Well, it was 'really' fun while it lasted." Desmond sneered.
[Wa-wait! Ask another one. I'll honestly answer it.]
"..." Desmond pondered for a moment before concluding. "Very well. Tell me about your celestial world?"
[...]
"Alright! Let us descent in silence, shall we?"
[...]
Like that, Desmond again continued with the flight.
After thirty more minutes, the stupid system suddenly alerted him. [I can sense something below! But I can't pinpoint it.]
"Is it ground?" Desmond asked while waking from his boredom.
[I don't know. I can't sense it.]
"It must be water," Desmond said.
[Water? How are you so sure?]
"First of all, the system gave this as a side quest. So the chances of me dying here are slim, if not none." He quickly turned around in the air, and now he was skydiving. "Secondly, even though I am falling, the atmospheric pressure is endurable. So my guess is, it's either water or some other levitating 'thing', which is unlikely because this mountain is a natural one."
The moment he ended the sentence, Desmond was hit with a wave of euphoria. He was floating again, but this time with a tenderness of a motherly touch. The water was cold. He could feel it in his body.
He could feel the radiance of the sun permeating the water floor. He was confused, as he was sure that he was several kilometers below the earth's surface.
He saw the magnificent coral reef just below him. Various aquatic lives danced with even steps. Even though he can't possibly breathe underwater, he was in a trance without suffocating. He was too caught up with the ethereal scenery that he forgot about it.
"Th-this is..."
[...Ethereal]
Both of them were so engrossed in the scenery, they didn't even notice they were even speaking underwater. Fuck, they didn't even notice the enormous shadow cast upon them.
The creature's movement didn't disrupt the natural flow of the water, like this was its territory. The large blue fishlike creature with a tail lamp like thing on the front of his head circled above the oblivious Desmond. The creature had more than a thousand teeth ready to easily rip anything and everything that it desires. With Slow and steady, it approached its prey, who was mesmerised by the beauty of its territory.
Desmond was about to touch a small fish when his senses screamed at the incoming danger. He didn't look back at his predator as he suddenly flanked to the left with the top of his speed.
*Boom*
The place where Desmond was standing suddenly exploded as a large creature loaded itself on the ground.
"Holy fucking shit! What the fuck is that?"
[How the fuck am I supposed to know that? Just run—Swim already.]
"Fucking useless." He summoned his wolf slaying blade and started to swim away. He knew he couldn't possibly out swim the aquatic creature.
"Give something. System?"
{Do you want to buy the passive skill 'Bestiary'?}
"Huh?" Desmond was perplexed to suddenly hearing another voice in his head. Not the annoying one, but a more robotic sound.
"Who the fuck are you?"
{Host, I'm your integrated and high performing personalised system.}
"Then who the fuck was that annoying one?" He could feel the creature's eyes on him. He swam down to the floor and skillfully entered through small openings of caves and logs.
[Desmond, we don't have time for chit chatting, buy the thing the system suggested.]
Desmond could feel the desperation in the annoying one's sound.
He took a deep breath. "Very well, buy the passive skill."
{It will be 1000 gold coins. Are you sure about buying it?}
{Y/N}
"Yes, buy it."
{Successfully bought the passive skill 'Bestiary.' }
{Integrating the skill with the host.}
{10% 20% 40% 70% 90% 99% 100%}
{Integration complete}
{Congratulations! Bestiary now added to your passive skills}
{Do you want to activate the skill now? Once activated, it will be always be activated unless you deactivate it manually.}
*Boom*
Desmond saw the creature just easily destroying the caves and logs he just passed by. Though the creature was huge, it was slow compared to Desmond. He didn't know if it was playing with him or not. He saw a huge coral garden and dived into it. The coral garden was huge, he can hide here and escape since the creature might be confused here.
"Activate!"
{Activating successful.}
All of a sudden, a large display was hovering in front of Desmond. Many details about many things were displaying on it. He couldn't even see anything else other than the display itself.
"Filter! Filter!" He cried out to the system.
{Applying filter}
{Completed successfully}
The numerous details suddenly vanished, and a single and simplified data suddenly appeared before him. Through the coral, he looked at the enormous blue creature.
[Name: Bluek Hylark]
[Age: 398 years]
[Species: Hylark]
[Rank: B]
[The Bluek Hylark are aquatic organisms that are usually found in under water far away from any surface contacts. They are extremely territorial creatures. They hate intruders. Even though they are extremely strong, they are very slow compared to other aquatic organisms. Their outer shells are harder than Methryl. Their only weakness is their insides.]
"Whoa, that's cool. How the fuck am I gonna get inside of that thing?"
[Well, you can send your blades to run amuck inside it]
"..."
[...]
"After this is over, you and I are gonna have a long talk."
[...Sure]
Desmond summoned his blades again. Sensing the mana fluctuation, the Bluek Hylark turned towards where it was coming. There, several meters away, his prey was looking at him with a snarky smile on his face.
Desmond, now floating above the coral garden, looked at the enormous creature and declared thunderously;
"Come! let us fight to our hearts' content and by the end of the fight I'll teach you one or more things about fighting."
"Roooooaaaarrrrr." The enormous creature roared in anger.
[See, even the poor grandpa seemed to understand what type of fish poop you are.]
