Laya was shocked at the security guard's words. Her blood ran cold at his words. Despite it's been nine months since they both saw each other. The fear that her mother-in-law instilled was still there. Rahul worked hard to remove that fear from her brain and body. But she was acting as if she has her instincts.

She could feel her chest beating erratically. Taking a deep breath she decided to calm down. Just then her phone started ringing loudly scaring her further. When she saw the caller ID she heaved a sigh.

"Sh-shakti," she said shakily the moment she lifted the call.

"Hello! Laya! What happened? Why are you sounding scared?!" Shakti asked worriedly.

"She came," she said in a low voice.

"Who? Who came?" Shakti asked.

"Rahul's Mother," Laya said.

"What is Rahul doing? Send her out first. Don't panic. Take a deep breath," Shakti said as she tried to soothe her.

"She didn't come to my house. She is making a ruckus outside. Rahul asked me to go inside and said he would send her out," Laya said.

"Ok, Don't worry. First, if Rahul said. Then trust him. She won't come to you. And you don't have to ruin your surprise for him because of him. Okay. Trust him." Shakti said.

"Shakti…." she called out lowly. Shakti knew that her insecurities would be popping out now.

"Yes, Love," she responded in her low voice.

"No, he wouldn't. If he wants to leave you. He would have done that long ago. And he wouldn't wait for you this long. Also, it's been a year, you guys never consummated. And he never forced you. Why would he leave you? Don't overthink," Shakti said.

"He won't leave me, right?" she asked.

"He won't," Shakti affirmed her.

"I called you to say something but you spoiled it," shakti said as she tried to divert the topic.

"What is it?" Laya asked curiously.

Shakti smiled on the other side hearing her friend's excited voice. She knew she should talk more with her and divert her further.

"Today, we are having a collaboration with Rajan Groups. Today instead of Chairperson Rajan, his son CEO Rajan came to sign the deal. You know what… CEO Rajan is so handsome. I felt like the Himalayas would melt at his smile. And would you believe me, he flirted with me! Dammmit! I am over the moon!" Shakti said.

"Why are you getting so excited with that? Who knows he might be a casanova?" Laya said as she tried to burst Shakti's bubble but failed miserably.

"Nope! He isn't. Remember I have a crush on someone during my university time. He is the one," Shakti said.

"Hey! You mean… Chanakya Rajan!!!" Laya yelled forgetting about her mother-in-law's issue.

"Yes! He is the one!" Shakti beamed.

"Oh my god! Is my friend's long-lasting dream coming true!?" Laya yelled feeling extremely happy.

"But I am confused," Shakti said.

"Why?" she asked.

"He never showed any interest in women. And he came to the project signing and flirted with me. Maybe I am overthinking," Shakti said.

"Don't worry. You can confirm with him whether he has any interest in you or not when you met him again," Laya said trying to comfort her friend.

"How do I do that?" Shakti asked.

"Tease him. If he responds, it means he has an interest in you, if he doesn't, forget him. This world doesn't lack beauties. Let's go on a trip all over India and find the beauties for ourselves," Laya said with a giggle. Not noticing the arrival of Rahul behind her.

"Forget it, Laya. We won't meet again. Maybe you are right. He is good during university time. But a few days back I heard a rumor about him, he has a fiance. Despite that he is still flirting with me," Shakti said feeling disappointed.

"Don't worry. Next month we will go on a trip!" Laya said.

"Yes! We shall! We shall enjoy the world to the fullest!" Shakti said.

"We shall get a massage with cute guys, enjoy the sauna, hot spring, and many things," Laya said giggling.

"Looks like you have lots of plans," Shakti said.

"Yesh!" Laya cheered like a kid.

"Okay, Let's talk about them next month when we met. Don't forget to give the surprise for your husband tonight," Shakti said.

"Okay," Laya said.

"Bye, good night," Shakti said. With that, she hung the call.

"Rahul, You can't abandon me like this! I am your mother! You should listen to me! So shall your wife!" Maha Lakshmi yelled at her son.

"Mom! Enough! I didn't abandon you. I am giving you a one lakh allowance to you per month. There are maids to do the chores in your house. I am paying them a salary. All you need to do is, eat and sleep. Are you getting tired of that?" Rahul said as he felt tired talking with her.

"But you can't leave me alone!" she said feeling frustrated.

She was living all alone for the past nine months. Neither her children nor her husband paid a single visit. She tried n number of times to reach out to her husband. Her husband would only ask about divorce signing when they met. She saw a different side of her husband this time. Every time her husband would shut his mouth. These past few months, she saw her husband with anger, with words, and all kinds. The kind she saw during the early stages of their marriage.

Maha Lakshmi felt like her world was crumbling. All these years, her husband, children everyone used to listen to her. Now no one was listening to her. Wasn't this all thanks to Laya?

"Mom, I didn't leave you alone. I am living with my wife. Didn't you leave grandma's house after your marriage?" he said.
