The Alliance

Mi-Young was completely dumbstruck by her dad's announcement.

"I'm sorry dad, did you say that it's time for me to get married?" she asked.

"Mi-Young, you're 21 years old and it's time you thought about marrying into a good family," her dad stated.

"Wow...Okay. Whose idea was this?" she asked.

"Mine," Nam-joon said in response.

Mi-Young looked at her brother with disbelief.

"Since when did you start making decisions about my life," she asked him in frustration.

"That's not what I'm doing Mimmi, we just think it's time we found you a suitable match in order to secure your future," Nam-joon stated.

"Bullshit," Mi-Young said in anger, "This is just another way for the both of you to keep me under your control."

"Mi-Young!!" her dad shouted, "Watch your mouth when you talk to me."

"My apologies dad, but don't understand why now all of a sudden. I'm still doing my 3rd year in varsity and I still have my life to live," she said.

"I'll let you finish your studies but you are to get married as soon as you graduate," her dad said.

"NO!"

Mi-Young blatantly refused the idea. She still had many plans for herself after varsity and marriage was not one of them.

"Come on Mimmi, don't be so difficult," Nam-joon said, "Jin is a good match for you and comes from a really good family."

"Jin! As in Kim Seok-jin, your childhood friend?" she asked.

"Yes, he comes from a wealthy family and uniting both families will be good for the company," he concluded.

"Finally!! The truth comes out. This is all about the business and I'm just a pawn to be used," Mimmi reiterated.

Mi-Young's dad was one of the richest men in Seoul and one of the most feared crime lords in the city. She found it extremely difficult having a Mob Boss for a father as she battled to make friends. Now he was arranging a marriage between her and one of his partner's sons.

"That's not really true, Lil sis. This alliance will benefit you more than the company," Joonie said.

"Daddy, I'm not going to agree to this marriage. I have my own dreams to fulfill and getting married right now will diminish all of that. Mom has always told me to go after my dreams at any cost and I plan on doing that. Please... don't make me do this," she pleaded.

Mr. Kim looked at his daughter intensely observing how much she looked like her mom. She had her mother's looks, willpower and was very ambitious. Everything he did was for the sake of his family.

"Okay, I will hold back on the alliance. Let you live your life, but you have one year my dear. One year to accomplish your dreams and thereafter, you will get married," he said sternly.

"But dad, a year is not enough," she protested.

"A year is more than enough for you to finish your studies and to do whatever else you want to do. After that, you are to marry Kim Seok-jin as well as join the family company."

Mr. Kim soon left the lounge and went upstairs followed by Nam-Joon. Mi-Young was dumbfounded by the terms her dad gave her. One year, she was given one year to get herself straightened and after that she was to marry Jin.

"Can my life get any worse?" she muttered to herself
