She's So Much Better Than You

Halia furrowed her brows. "I remember when you first downloaded Sara's memories into my brain, you told me it would only last 3 months. Are you 100% certain about that?" Halia began to suspect that the doctor was hiding other things from her. But, the white-haired man quickly nodded his head. "So far, every single experiment we've done has shown that result," he said with confidence.

Halia breathed a sigh of relief. Now that she understood what was happening, all she had to do was be wary around Sean for the next month and a half.

At that moment, she quickly picked up her phone and excused herself for a moment.

"Daddy, about the accommodation you offered, I'll take it," she said.

Her father looked at his phone in shock. It was rare for his daughter to accept help from him. "I'll immediately arrange it," he replied.

Halia knew she had no choice but to go to Hong Kong with Sean. So, the least she could do, was stay as far away from him as possible.

After she hung up, the doctor pulled out a file and presented it to Halia.

"Now that we've discussed that matter, I need to talk to you about the reason why I called you here," Dr. Li said.

"We know you're flying to Hong Kong for a week, so we need to do a general health check. But, apart from that, the Captain has requested that we do something about your martial arts skills. This time, apart from your handler, you won't have any backup in Hong Kong, so it's important that you protect yourself. According to your records, you've only been trained in general self defence," the doctor confirmed.

Halia nodded her head.

"I was actually planning to speak to you about this. Sean tested me today and I think he was a bit confused by my skill level," Halia explained.

"Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore. We've found someone that's willing to transfer his skills to you," Dr. Li replied.

At that moment, the door to the lab opened and a man stood in the doorway. Halia quickly saluted, it was the Captain of the SPU.

"Captain, what are you doing here?" Halia asked.

"Here to offer you my skills," he replied.

Halia looked at the man in shock...

...

Over in France, night hit. Jackson had just spent his first day in the safe house and he was lying in bed thinking about everything that happened.

It was nice to see an old friend again. To be honest, it made the whole situation a lot more bearable, but now that the house was silent and he was left with his own thoughts, he couldn't help but think about Halia. He had only known this woman for a month and a half, but so much happened between them that it felt odd to not have her around. He thought about the smile on her face, the smell of coffee on her breath and the floral scent of her hair; he couldn't believe how much he missed her.

There was so much he wanted to say to her and so much he wanted to explain. He was worried whether her feelings for him were real, but he was certain of his own feelings and he really wanted to face her with his true identity.

Just as he was deep in thought and about to fall asleep, he suddenly felt some shuffling next to him. Before he knew it, he felt a warm arm wrap around his body.

"Do you know how happy I am to see you?" a seductive female voice whispered beside his ear.

It was Amelie. She had climbed into his bed. What was this woman doing?

Jackson quickly threw the woman's arm away, "I'm happy to see you too, but this is highly inappropriate."

The woman sat up in frustration as the moonlight shone in through the window, highlighting her healthy bronze skin. It seemed, this woman often sunbathed since there wasn't much to do at the house.

She flipped her curly blonde hair and pouted as she looked at Jackson with her crystal blue eyes.

"What's so inappropriate? You're an unmarried man and I'm an unmarried woman. We're not tied down, plus we've known each other for years. I've seen the way you look at me. I'm beautiful, aren't I?" Amelie asked as she began to unbutton her shirt.

Jackson quickly looked away, "Amelie, you're a beautiful woman and you're a great friend, but I've never seen you as anything more than that. I'm sure you'll find a man that would cherish you someday, but I'm not that man. Besides, I already have a girlfriend waiting for me in Beijing."

Amelie paused. A girlfriend? He was only in Beijing for about 5 months, she had known him 5 years. Who was this woman? How did she compare?

"Come on, Jackson, I'm sure that was just a fling. How could she compare to me?" Amelie asked as she grabbed Jackson's chin and forced him to look at her.

Jackson swiped the woman's hand away and sat up, "I don't want to compare you to her."

Amelie laughed, "Why? Because I'm so much better than her?"

Jackson shook his head. He didn't want to be so harsh to his friend, but she was leaving him with no choice. So, he cleared his throat and replied, "No, because she's so much better than you..."
