Awakening

Following a few hours of enjoyment, Elena and Edric returned home.

They went to their rooms after returning home.

Edric fell asleep as soon as he laid down on the bed.

Next Day,

In Edric's room, he was watching tv, when his mom walked in,

"Eddie, your grandpa wants you to come down,"

"Why?"

"I don't know, maybe it's about your training," She said with a mysterious smile.

As soon as he heard 'training', he dashed out of the room.

Seeing him back made his mother smile,

In a matter of seconds, Edric was standing before his grandpa.

"Huff, why did you call me?" He was out of breath.

"Take a seat,"

He sat on the couch.

"You said that you wanted to be a high-rank hunter that his parents would be proud of, right?"

That was Edric's answer to Orson's question when he was given the time to decide what he wanted to do in his life. (ch 6)

"Yup,"

Orson brought a red box from his inventory and put it in front of him

"It's your last change, if you have any doubts about becoming a hunter, then you can leave that and continue as a normal human,"

"I've already told you that I won't change my mind,"

"The world of hunters may appear glamorous, but in reality, it is a hell on earth created by hunters themselves."

A person could awaken their power in two ways. The first one is natural, a person awakens their power by having their mana resonate with the mana around them. This process usually takes several months, years, or a person might not awaken at all. In other words, it depends on a person's luck.

The second is by using an awakening stone. An awakening stone can be found in the A-rank dungeons or higher that helped increase a person's mana affinity. An awakening stone cost a fortune, so only rich people could buy it.

When the awakening stone first appeared on the market, scientists studied it and found that. After the gates appeared in the world, everyone developed an affinity for mana. Some people had a low mana affinity, while others had a high mana affinity. Those who had a low affinity remain normal humans, while those who had a high affinity become awakeners. So in short, the higher the mana affinity, the greater the chance of resonance.

"That's right," Orson nodded,

"What do you mean "that's right"? It's crazy expensive,"

"Well. When you compare it to what it will bring in the future, it's not so expensive."

Edric look at his grandpa's face,

"Why are you so confident that I will awaken a powerful ability?"

"It's because of one of my skills,"

"What type of skill?"

"It's a skill that helps me see mana around a person."

"You could see mana?"

He had a stupefied expression, Seeing mana is like seeing the air around us.

Orson nodded.

After thinking for a while, Edric opened his mouth,

"So, it is because of this skill, you took me as your disciple, not out of some pity, "

"Yeah. When I first took you as a disciple, I wanted you to join Alina's guild," His grandpa paused and looked Edric's face,

Seeing his expression, he smiled.

Edric had a sour expression on his face; he wished that what he had said had been wrong, but the reality is always harsh.

'So, in the end, he helped me to gain something in return,'

"But when you become my grandson, things change. Now, I don't want you to join Alina's guild, instead, I want you to build something bigger and greater than her guild."

Upon hearing his grandpa's words, Edric was at a loss for words.

"So, you want me to build an empire?"

"Sort of,"

"Emperor Edric, it's not bad,"

His mother joined them in the conversation by teasing Edric,

In embarrassment, Edric's earlobes turn red.

"Leave that for later. For now, let's focus on this,"

Edric tried to change the subject, which made his mom and grandpa laugh.

"As you wish, Emperor Edric." His grandpa said,

"I hate you, guys," Edric turned his head from them in anger.

Seeing him turn his head, his mom said.

'So cute,'

"Fine, we apologize,"

When he looked at their faces,

"From your face, it did not appear that you were sorry."

Both of them were trying their best not to laugh.

"Haha,"

"Haha,"

After laughing for a few moments, his grandpa spoke,

"Let's get serious for real. Take the awakening stone in your hand and close your eyes."

Edric did as he was told,

"Lose your muscles and control your breathing."

In a few seconds, a large amount of mana began to flow into Edric's body.

"Aah!" Edric groaned.

"Don't resist it, let the mana flow throughout your body,"

Suddenly, a large burst of energy occurred, causing black and violet flames to appear around him.

"Black and violent flame?"

His mom was in disbelief when she saw the flames,

As his grandpa saw the flames, he created a barrier around Edric.

Flames were so intense that the barrier began to melt. Seeing this, his grandpa raised his eyebrows.

"Such intense flames,"

In an instant, half of the barrier melted, seeing this

"Edric, open your eyes,"

Hearing his grandpa's words, Edric opened his eyes, and as he did, numerous windows appeared before him and the flames also began to subside.
