Heir of Shendu "Hiatus"

Okay so ROB came calling and offered a second chance. The catch? I get to be his entertainment so no OP powers and I'm pretty sure he put something in my wish. So where to go what to be. Well lets go to Dan Machi with Shendu powers and a Pan'ku box. Maybe if I get strong enough I can stuff one up his.

*THUD* "Alright here's all our low level ingredients. you ready to make some potions?"

I stare at the boxes in front of me forming a small mountain.

"Isn't this a little much for one day?"

"Of course it is. This is enough for the week. Potions may go bad but they sell quickly enough you don't need to worry about it. Plus most of the cost winds up in the labor making them. You don't have this problem so I can sell them for cheaper. Well it's not much for the low level ones so hurry up and level up so we can start making cheap high level potions!" She slaps me on the back at that.

"I won't be able to level up if you strap me to a table and make me make potions all day." She grins at my comeback as if I just set her up for the perfect play.

"And that's why you're doing a whole week's worth at once! Once a week potion making, and then you get the rest of the week for whatever. Most mixers are stuck in their rooms all the time making potions while you only have to do it once a week. Sounds great right!"

"Yeah, yeah, I get I'm a cheat. Just remember I can only do this till I run out of mental power. Once I'm out I'm gonna go see if I can get some metal in the down time."

"Just make sure to finish as much as you can today alright."

"Will do now let me get started." A couple hours later and I've managed to finish all the ingredients. Probably got a little too into it, but hey I'm floating around magical ingredients making potions in mid air like some Disney fairy or mad warlock. It'll probably look even crazier when I start getting into the harder potions. Anyway I've managed to finish up so I head off to the one shop I promised an example piece.

"Hey I'm back."

"Oh who are you?"

"I wanted a custom piece and the clerk said if I gave him an example he would see if anyone was interested."

"Right, Jack was it? You said it was called a halberd if I remember correctly."

"Yeah here it is." I plop my example piece on the counter. Not the partially metal one mind you don't want people asking questions just yet.

"So this is a halberd?"

"Just the head. I didn't think the pole part was necessary after all."

"Right... Are you sure that's it?"

"Yeah? Why?"

"Well cause this is basically a poleaxe with a flat back end." Right! DUH! a halberd is just a poleaxe with a hammer face. I slap myself in the face while asking the clerk.

"So basically I should have just asked for a poleaxe with a hammer face."

"Yep, that sums it up pretty well. Still something like this IS pretty unusual. Not many adventurers go for polearms and most of those go for spears. Add on a hammer and an axe and it would be too complicated for most of them."

"Yeah I can see that. Still I think the versatility would overcome that."

"True, but most of the newbies can't afford something this complicated to make so only veterans would be interested and most of those already have their style down."

"Anyway I've heard this before, do you think you could get anyone interested in making one."

"Oh sure, I mean some of them would make some just for practice or trying new things. Especially since I've seen some WAY weirder weapons out there."

"Thanks, and do you know where I could by some metal."

"Well sure I could probably sell you some myself. Though it depends on how much you want."

"Just enough to make a halberd for myself and maybe some armor."

"You trying to get into smithing? I though you were part of a healer's familia."

"I am, but I've recently found I have a bit of talent for making items so I want to see if I can learn to make things like the Dian Cecht familia."

"Well in that case I can sell you what you want. Of course that's only for the simplest ores, and if you want anything in large amounts I'll have to send you to our contacts instead."

"Thanks it's a big help."

"Sure, just make sure to give me a discount if I ever need one of those healing items."

"Will do, but what was your name again."

"Arwin"

"Thanks again, Arwin."

Once home I look at the pile of metal on the work table. It's about fifty pounds of ore which should be enough for a halberd and some armor pieces. First I separate the iron from the rock making a mess in the process. Instead of two blocks I wound up with two piles of dust. Luckily I can just float the left overs out the back door. Then I shapeshift the iron into ingots to get them into something I can recognize. It takes a few tries but eventually I get a halberd head I'm satisfied with. Of course my brilliant self then has to realize I know nothing about how to attach the head to the pole.

I decide eventually to keep it simple and just stick a pin through an extended sleeve. All magically shapeshifted together of course. I could probably be the world's greatest welder back on earth.

Checking my work I take it out back and give it a few swings to test my work. A few jabs in and everything seems okay if off balance. I rear back and channel the rabbit and ox talismans to smash the ground.

*BANG* *CRACK*

Well firstly my apologies for the gap. Completely my fault. I just couldn't get the inspiration or enthusiasm to write. Plus it seems I suck at keeping a schedule for stuff like this. It's my first try at writing so I didn't expect the quality to be great but it feels like it's dropped like a rock. As such I'm going to try to go for one chapter a week in order to try to keep the quality up. I just can't have this be the ONLY thing I do in my free time. Suggestions are helpful so please comment.
