Chapter-54: Testing and Teasing

The man continued to wait as he dreamt of his bright future as the strongest in the world.

But as time continued to pass, his excitement died down because he couldn't hear their screams or anything. But he didn't think too much about it as he just concluded that they must be holding it forcibly.

After about five minutes, the sword retrieved the devouring fog from them and everything was clear to see for everyone.

There was no rotten corpses, no skin and bones, no nothing. Both of them were totally as well as before.

Infact there wasn't even a single hair missing from their bodies. The only thing missing was the green poison that was in Ashmus's body.

He was totally cured and there was no blood coming out of his pores.

The man's excited expression stiffened on his face but his face was totally white as sheet.

One more person who was extremely shocked was Althea. She had thought that she was about to be devoured by that fog so she prepared herself for the pain that was about to come.

But her expected pain didn't come even after a long time. And when the fog was retrieved, she was astonished to find that she was completely fine.

She looked down to make sure if everything was still in its place. Then she looked at Ashmus with wide eyes and saw that all the green spots on his body were gone and he was back to his previous dashing look.

Ashmus opened his eyes a cold look appeared in them. But he glance at the man who was now scarred witless.

He turned towards Althea and saw her dazed look and smiled.

"Why are you so shocked? Are you happy?... Now that you don't have to sell yourself, hmm." Ashmus asked to her.

The girl got out of her daze when she heard his voice and said, a little nervous," It-its not that i didn't want to do it but..." Before she could finish her words, Ashmus hugged her body tightly.

"You did the right thing." He said to her in a soothing tone.

"Eh?" Althea was surprised when she heard his words. She thought he was angry because she didn't have the resolve to save him.

Then Ashmus continued," You don't have to sell yourself when someone threatens you with me.

Even if had saved me that way, there would be no point in staying alive knowing that my woman had to sell herself to save me. It would be as good as death. Do you understand?"

Althea heard his words and her eyes teared up and she hugged his body back.

"Mn" She grunted in a low voice.

"It was my fault that i was careless and got poisoned. Why would you be the one to get violated to save me? If you can save me through normal means, you can do that. But never give in to anyone's words and do whatever they tell you to. Okay." Said Ashmus.

"Mn." She once again grunted to acknowledge his words.

"I said that previously just to test you. I wanted to know if you have truly devoted yourself to me.

I know you are extremely strong. And if in the future when you are healed, you try to kill me for abusing you, i could do nothing but watch as you kill me."

Althea heard his words and separated from with surprised look and she said with narrowed eyes," I'm not that type of woman. I would never hurt someone who ahd saved my life."

Ashmus heard her words and a gentle smile appeared on his face as he caressed her white and soft cheeks.

"Even though i know that you are not that type of girl, i still wanted to confirm it. You saw how cunning that man was. I was almost done in by that idiot's scared acting.

Thank God i had the perfect solution for that or else i would be dead by now." Ashmus sighed and said to her.

He then looked at her and said," Oh, There is one more thing. You sure were brave to not evade the devouring fog, Mn.....

You thought that the sword was trying to kill me, right. Then why didn't you evade it. Did you also wanted to die with me?" Ashmus asked with a knowing smile.

The girl was embarrassed and she looked down to hide her red face.

Then her embarrassment turned into anger she looked at Ashmus with red eyes and said," why didn't you warn me? I really thought that we were going to be killed by that.... You know that i was extremely scared.... Wuuuu....." She then started crying in a low voice.

Ash felt a bit pained when he saw how she was crying and be hurriedly embraced her body and said with a soothing tone," Its all fine now. You don't have to cry like that.

I didn't say anything because i thought you would evade the fog but i didn't think that you would actually stay beside me." He said with a sigh.

Then continued with a happy tone," I was very happy when i saw that you also wanted to die with me. You are extremely courageous for a little girl, hah..."

Althea felt a sweet feeling in her heart when he praised her. But when she heard the later half, she separated from his arms forcibly and punched his chest with all her strength.

"I am not a little girl. I'm way older than you."

She rebuked him with an angry but cutesy look. After saying this she continued to punch his chest hardly.

But because she couldn't use her cultivation, she was nothing more than a mortal so to Ashmus it was just slight peck.

He laughed in extreme amazement and said," Hahahahaha.... You are so cute, Althea. Just like a little girl."

"Ahhhhhh. I said I'm not a little girl." Althea, who heard his words was totally embarrassed and shouted.

"Okay, okay. You are not a little girl..." Ash said as he rubbed both her cheeks.

"Then shall we take care of some other matters, my little girl." In the end, he still called her that.

Althea has never been so embarrassed in ber entire life. Her entire body was shaking like leaf as she huffed and turned her face to other side.
