Ch. 5 Post-Hell

The Awakening War (2025-2055) left a lasting mark on every person on Earth. The once arrogant and prideful human race was now united. A week after the final ParaCarriers were destroyed, the first meeting of the United Earth Federation was held. It was decided that every country would get an equal say no matter how powerful. The first vote passed was banning presidents, rulers, dictators, or anything in between. They have too many people for one person to rule over. They have seen what happens when people become symbolic figures like Elena, Laing and Victor. Humanity was too powerful to recklessly keep fighting each other for petty reasons. They were certain if another war was to happen that would be the true end of humanity. 

The next vote passed was to make a new capital for the United Earth Federation. Not just a new capital, but a capital island. The construction of the island required the collaboration of every nation. They needed ParaTech such as 3D printers that used an advanced composite material with self-repairing nanotech that could make skyscrapers. Hundreds of thousands of powerful awakened were needed to make the 125,000 sq. km. capital island. Quantum AI drones helped with powerlines, sewer systems, or any other infrastructure. 

The island was built to hold up to 720 million people with three density zones to house everyone. High-density zones held about 10,000 people per sq. km. using high-rise residential towers located in the central district. Medium-density zones held about 5,000 people per sq. km with mid-rise housing and apartments located between the low-density and high-density zones. The low-density zones were the farthest from the central district housing about 1,000 people per sq. km. In order, each zone has about 500 million, 200 million, and 20 million people. 

The low-density zones were mostly for agriculture. They grew food and raised crops that could sustain everyone on the island. Earth-related awakens generally where the ones living here because they could enhance the growth of the their farm. The medium-density zones had most of the industrialization. Factories were built with advanced filtration systems for pollution and produced less noise than one car running. They blended into the housing seamlessly allowing people to still live near them without worry. The central district held the UEF headquarters, The New Atlantis Academy, High-Density Zones, and OCTAI. The OCTAI is the creatively named government program known as the Organization for Tracking and Classifying Awakened Individuals (OTCAI). 

Technology wasn't the only thing to advance during the War. Awakened abilities started to advance as well. By the end, humanity didn't need to rely solely on ParaTech to destroy cities in an instant. The OTCAI was a major part of the UEF government and had an office in every city of the world. They not only tracked and classified every awakened but they were also in charge of keeping them in order. The OTCAI had four divisions. The classification division handled the assessment and classification of awakened. The monitoring division tracked and ensured no awakened were abusing their powers. The research and development division focused on researching ways to more accurately classify and track awakened. The most powerful of them all was the enforcement division. This division was filled with extremely powerful people who capture rogue awaken. 

After much discussion, the island was named New Atlantis. Humanity had a renaissance for the ancient gods and myths after the awakening. Now anyone could become as powerful as a god and many saw them as the power to strive for. Many parents named their children after gods hoping that it might give them an affinity for the gods' power. It worked with a boy named Zeus, who could manipulate lightning but that is the only recorded case after 30 years. Even so, this caused a boom in children's names inspired by the gods. Names like Persis, Isara, Nephli, and Rasha became the norm.

The UEF headquarters is the central hub for all administrative, strategic, and diplomatic operations of the UEF. All elected government officials worked there. Ensuring smooth communication between all countries. The United Earth Defense Force (UEDF) was also in the building. Even though the ParaCarriers and Helios Beam were destroyed, the awakened had become very powerful. Every country was fine with accepting the terms because almost every country had awakened that could do similar damage. The UEDF housed most of the world's strongest awakened.

The UEDF did most of the UEF research and was in charge of developing the most efficient ways to navigate and battle in space. They had recently developed technology that could detect the use of spatial powers. The early designs could only detect spatial manipulation in a 100 km range. The latest version they built was capable of detecting spatial tears light years away from Earth. They could detect a tear tens of thousands of light years away. This caused increased funding for space research. Humanity needed to discover a way to interplanetary travel now more than ever. 

The New Atlantis Academy (NAA) trained and developed every awaken. The NAA is the premier institution for training the next generation of leaders, scientists, engineers, diplomats, and soldiers. It plays a crucial role in providing the UEDF and UEF government with trained awakened. The NAA ensures that every student is using their powers for the betterment of humanity. The best way to prevent major conflict is to treat everyone equally and respectfully. It doesn't prevent all violence but it helps unify everyone else against it. The UEF Headquarters, UEDF, and NAA make up most of the central district. The high-density zones made up the rest. 

Overall, it took five years to build New Atlantis. The UEF set up OCTAI buildings in every populated city in the world. The OTCAI used a simple system to classify awakened individuals. From weakest to strongest are the F, E, D, C, B, A, S, and S+ rank. S+ rank is a classification for people equal to the power of gods. Some are capable of destroying planets and others can create oceans that could flood the whole Earth. S+ ranks greatly vary in power among themselves but they all could destroy or kill everyone on Earth. 

There are currently 15 S+ ranks that are known by the OTCAI. Ten of them are in the UEDF or UEF government. Three of them are in charge of the NAA. The final one is Vector Stern. He is a spatial manipulator who once teleported a whole city to Venus killing about 30,000 people. The UEDF put out a notice of arrest for Vector very soon after its founding. No one has found him and it is believed that he has become powerful enough to teleport to a different solar systems. They tried to use the spatial detector but it was hard to know which way to look. It was becoming more and more common to get readings of tears from solar systems light years away.

The UEF was now positive that intelligent life existed outside of Earth and they even had powers very similar to them. This discovery shocked the scientific community and increased UEF spending on interplanetary travel. A massive government campaign was started to recruit as many space-related awakened as possible. Teleportation was the best solution to traveling at light speed. They didn't need to worry about the risks of traveling light speed because they didn't need to propel themselves forward. It's equivalent to folding space in half.

The Interplanetary Spaceport was the latest structure to be built in the central district. It would be the hub for all interplanetary travel until a more optimal location in space was found. It didn't take long for the UEF to develop the interplanetary teleportation system (ITC). The ITC was able to travel up to 100 light-years at a time. This allowed humanity to explore the galaxy like never before. Massive government programs were started to explore the closest solar system and begin settlements on habitable worlds.
