Birthday Party

It was the voice in my right ear that asked, "Don't you miss her?" "No, I don't miss her." A sudden opening of my eyes revealed the whole room in front of me. Standing on the sides of my bed were my brothers, Michael and Alex. "Oh you're finally awake, we're leaving now," Michael said, not sounding surprised. After that sentence, Michael and Alex both left my room and I heard a slam. I tossed around to the other side of my bed and shut my eyes. I then remembered I had a birthday party to attend, I couldn't miss it. I open my eyes once more and stare at my alarm clock. "1, 2, 3," I counted just before my alarm clock started to ding. I knew it was coming, but I acted surprised and frightened. I had an old clock, the one that was round and had bells on the side. It was also very dusty because I haven't used it since I was twelve, but I remember it vividly. I continued to hit the old clock until it stopped dinging. For some reason, I was angry at the clock. I wouldn't say I had anger issues, but when I got super angry I hit things or people that didn't cause the problem. I kind of act like my brother, Michael. When the dinging stopped I continued to hit it. At that point, my hand was starting to turn red, and felt like I had fractured my knuckles. "Ouch!" I yelp, clenching my knuckles. I looked at them and was surprised. I had been beating on the clock so hard that all my knuckles were bleeding. I could still move them, but it hurt like hell. I shook it off and went to the bathroom. I grabbed a band-aid and stuck it in my hand. "Ta-da!" I sarcastically said while smiling. I wiggled my knuckles softly and got up. Taking out a pair of jeans and a white shirt from my closet, I am dressed for the day. The birthday party was only a few miles away, so I called an Uber to get there.

The driver had arrived at the main entrance of his house. There were a lot of cars parked near his house but he managed to squeeze through.``That'll be 20 dollars." He said, but I was already out of the car. "Hey, you still have to pay me!" He shouted. Outside of the house was Natalie and Emily in their matching pink dresses. "Ryan, we were waiting for you!" Emily screamed as she ran up to me. Putting on a big smile, I looked at my surroundings. I noticed him, he was at the corner of the house. "Why don't you two go play inside." I tell them, then they rush off laughing. The man from the uber turned me around and punched me in the face. Blood rushed from my nose as I got up. I went to punch him but was held back, it was him. I turned around and stared at him. "Go inside, I'll deal with this." He said in his mono-tone voice. I turned around as he proceeded to pull out his wallet. The inside of the house FABULOUS, like super pink and glittery. There were balloons and glitter everywhere. "Do you like it?" Natalie asked. "I love it!" I put on my happiest face possible, I smiled too hard and my face began to get red. Natalie then smiled alongside me and skipped away. My face turned into a frown and it looked like I was an old person. "Yeah, I got a weird feeling about this place too." He started, startling me. He was like a secret agent in disguise, I never knew where he was at any time. Also, somehow he knew exactly what I was thinking. I didn't ask questions because I knew he would give me a dumb response like "I just do". "Yeah, I got weird vibes as soon as I walked through the front door." I told him. I was pretty sure the house was haunted, and I could tell that he knew I thought that. I tried to play it cool, but it was pretty obvious that something was off about the place. I mean, why else would the lights flicker and the doors creak open and shut on their own? I was half expecting to see a ghost pop out from around the corner, but I guess I was just being paranoid. Still, I couldn't shake this feeling that something sinister was lurking within the walls. I wanted to say something, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I didn't want to sound like a crazy person. But then again, he probably already knew what I was thinking. He had that weird sixth sense that always gave away my real thoughts, like he could read my mind or something. I tried to keep my emotions hidden and pretend everything was fine, but I don't think it worked.
