Chapter 1: Ring of Merlin

Toby felt as though he had been caught in a long and vivid dream. Countless scenes and characters flashed through his mind, accompanied by an overwhelming rush of names, leaving Toby feeling like his head was about to burst. Suddenly, he regained his senses and looked around. When Toby opened his hazy eyes, he saw an old woman, Grandma Rosier, laughing with tears as she held an envelope in her hands.

Seeing Toby wake up, Grandma Rosier held the letter in her hand, waving it gently, and said happily, "I can't believe it, Toby. You are actually a wizard. I could have never imagined."

As Toby sifted through his memories, he realized that Grandma Rosier was the one who had adopted him at a young age. Judging by her reaction, she must have been a witch who had adopted a muggle without hesitation, and now she had discovered that her adopted grandson was a wizard.

"Grandma Rosier, I'm fine. I can't believe that I am also a wizard," Toby replied.

Grandma Rosier sighed, "My child, I had always hoped that you would remain a muggle because of my past. Once you become a wizard, I have no choice but to let you join an alliance."

Toby was taken aback, "Grandma, were you once part of an organization?"

Grandma Rosier stood up proudly, "And I still am. About 45 years ago, I was one of the top leaders of the organization until our leader was defeated. Even though we were defeated and went our separate ways, we have recently regrouped because our leader had a grandchild, an heir to our organization."

Toby tried to piece together the information. As far as he knew, the Death Eaters were a more recent organization, so he ruled out the possibility that Grandma Rosier was evil. Perhaps their leader had been captured and imprisoned in Azkaban.

"Toby," Grandma Rosier said, "Can you promise me one thing? Make sure that our heir is safe. If anyone finds out that our organization has an heir, they would stop at nothing to ensure her demise before she can grow up."

Toby snapped out of his daze and clasped Grandma Rosier's hand, "I promise, Grandma. I will protect her until she reaches the age of seventeen."

"Good, good. Now Grandma Rosier needs to confer with our associates to ensure that our preparations are ready to send our young lady to Hogwarts. In the meantime, stay at home and relax," Grandma Rosier said as she took out her wand and apparated away.

Toby looked around the house, searching for something to eat. While preparing a simple breakfast for himself, Toby couldn't help but think, 'Damn, I wish I had a cheat befitting an Isekai Protagonist like me.'

Just then, a book fell in front of Toby. Startled, Toby grabbed a kitchen knife, holding it out to protect himself. Seeing that there was no other reaction, he cautiously approached the book and opened the first page.

In the book, it read: "Hi Toby, this is R.O.B here. I hope your Isekai Process went smoothly. This is the cheat book I have arranged for you. Here's how it works: once a month, write a spell you wish to create in the book. Once you're done, tear out the page and burn it. If the spell is successful, the knowledge will be imprinted in your mind. If not, better luck next month. Remember, try to create spells that are useful rather than overpowered, as your current magical abilities can't handle it.

I have also arranged something else. Open the page titled 'Birthday Gift' and reach into the page. You can retrieve one magical item from the book on your birthday. If you try it more than once, you'll lose your hand. If you attempt it when it's not your birthday, your arm will be lost. So, be careful and keep your arms intact.

P.S: This page will burn in 3... 2... 1!"

Toby barely had enough time to toss the note into the fire before it burst into flames. Standing up, Toby raised his hand into the air and exclaimed, "Yeah!!! I am going to be the strongest in the world. Best cheat ever!"

Excitedly, Toby flipped through the pages and found the one titled "Birthday Gift." Taking a deep breath, he touched the pages, expecting a gift to materialize. To his surprise, his hand sank into the book as if entering a different dimension. When he pulled his hand out, a ring appeared on his right hand. It was a silver ring carved in the shape of a roaring dragon, with a blood-red ruby embedded in place of its eye.

"Huh, that's pretty neat," Toby remarked, examining the ring. Suddenly, more text appeared in the book, describing the ring as the "Ring of Merlin." It was a Mythril ring once worn by Merlin during his apprentice days and imbued with his magic. While wearing the ring, the amount of mana used during a spell would be reduced by 5%.

"Alright, what spell can I create now? Well, I definitely need something for sneaking around. Since I don't have an invisibility cloak, I'll go with that," Toby decided.

Opening the first page, Toby wrote, "Invisibillis: A spell used to make the user invisible by refracting light to pass through the area enshrouded by the spell."

Toby tore the page from the notebook and burned it in the fireplace. As the page turned to ash, the knowledge of the spell became a reality, and Toby learned how to cast it. Extending his hand adorned with the ring, Toby said, "Invisibillis," and he vanished from sight. Admiring his newfound power, he put the book away and ventured outside for a stroll to test his invisibility.

...

Grandma Rosier arrived at a small manor, took a deep breath, approached the door, and knocked four times. A black-robed figure answered, "Welcome, Madame Rosier. Master Albernotch is waiting for you." Inside, at the couch, Albernotch stood up and remarked, "If I didn't know any better, I would have thought you betrayed us, Rosier."

"Shut up, Albernotch. How could I betray Master Grindelwald? It's just that I discovered that my grandson is a wizard," Grandma Rosier retorted.

"The one you adopted... haah, I can't believe the boy you adopted turned out to be a wizard," Albernotch remarked.

"Me neither. When I walked into the orphanage, I hoped for solace, but now it seems I've brought fresh blood for The Alliance," Grandma Rosier replied.

"Of course, that's expected from someone whose family belongs to The Alliance. It's all for the greater good. Do you want him to accompany Young Lady Alyssa?" Albernotch inquired, his tone filled with flattery.

"That's why I believe this is a blessing," Grandma Rosier said. "He can assist Lady Alyssa and keep an eye on her."

"And will he swear loyalty to her?" Albernotch asked cynically.

"I will ensure that he does. He has no choice in the matter," Grandma Rosier stated firmly.

"I see," Albernotch responded. "But seriously, why are we letting Lady Alyssa go to Hogwarts? The school is run by our sworn enemy."

"Even I was puzzled by this, but Alyssa was insistent. The Grindelwald family has always been known for their prophetic abilities. Perhaps her intuition is telling her something," Grandma Rosier explained.

"Will you reveal our organization to the boy?" Albernotch questioned.

"No," Grandma Rosier replied. "Knowing too much would only put him in danger."

Suddenly, a young blonde-haired girl with hazel eyes interrupted, asking, "Who are you talking about?"

Grandma Rosier and Albernotch turned to see the girl standing there. Grandma Rosier said, "Young Lady Alyssa, do you remember my grandson?"

"The muggle," Alyssa blinked.

"Not anymore. He will be assigned to you as a bodyguard," Grandma Rosier declared.

"I don't need a bodyguard," Alyssa responded arrogantly. "What can a boy my age do?"

"Of course," Albernotch interjected with flattery, "Young Lady Alyssa is the best among her peers. However, can the young lady reconsider her decision to not attend Durmstrang Academy? You can openly learn black magic there, and besides, Hogwarts has your sworn enemy."

"Grandpa Albernotch, I've made up my mind. I'm going to Hogwarts because Dumbledore is there! Only by learning from the strongest can I surpass them and bring peace to the Wizarding world," Alyssa declared with determination.

Albernotch sighed and said, "I promise you, Lady Alyssa. Now, please get ready. Rosier will take you and her grandson to obtain a wand."

As Alyssa left, Grandma Rosier instructed Albernotch, "Now, it's time to awaken them and inform them that the new master of The Alliance has emerged, a descendant of the Grindelwald lineage!"

"What if they don't want to accept our awakening? You know, after so many years, there are always people worn away by time," Albernotch expressed concern.

"Then, we shall reclaim everything the master bestowed upon them. Let's take it back! Although the master may not care, those things are still very helpful to Alyssa," Grandma Rosier said. She took out a pendant from her arms, revealing a triangular shape with a circle and a vertical line trapped within it.

Grandma Rosier placed the pendant in front of her and stood up. She declared, "All for the greater good."
