Read how he fights off Voldemort in process becoming the leader of new generation of wizards and builds up his new life with his new friends, family and wife. A story of a wizard using his wisdom and power to ascend to the pinnacle of the world, who will do anything to protect his new family. This is a little slow paced and also somewhat slice of life story so keep that in mind, that focuses more on Alaric's relationship. There will be heavy changes to the original plot so be aware and also MC becomes overpowered rather quickly as the story moves forward and he won't hesitate to take some drastic measures if necessary, so he won't have a moral compass. Chapter 209: Winning First Two Games

Hermione's first opponent was a bearded man in a white robe. Alaric, in the audience, immediately recognized him as a wizard from the Middle East.

The wizard from the Middle East simply couldn't believe that his opponent was a little girl.

He spoke in broken French. After confirming with the referee several times through both speech and gestures, he finally had to admit this fact.

At this moment, he looked at Hermione with a somewhat smug smile and pretended to be kind.

"Girl, why don't you surrender voluntarily? That way, you can avoid unnecessary suffering. Wizard duels are not something a little girl like you should participate in."

Although his French was stuttering, Hermione immediately understood—she had learned some French when she traveled to France last summer.

This made Hermione very angry because she didn't like being underestimated, especially because of her age or gender.

"Listen, uncle," she made a face at the Middle Eastern wizard, "in the upcoming match, I'll make you regret underestimating me."

"I'm not that old!" as if touched on a sore spot, the Middle Eastern wizard became furious.

"I'm only 25!"

"Oh, really?" Hermione saw him getting angry and couldn't help feeling smug, "Your beard says otherwise."

The Middle Eastern wizard wanted to retort, but Hermione had already drawn her wand and bowed to him.

This was the etiquette before the wizard duel began.

"Well, if you insist on being my opponent..." The Middle Eastern wizard reluctantly made a gesture, "I won't go easy on you just because you're a girl."

Then, he raised his wand, preparing to strike first.

However, before he could cast his spell, a Disarming Charm had already flown towards him.

The spell came swiftly and silently, with no incantation from Hermione's side. It was, in other words, a non-verbal spell.

The Middle Eastern wizard never expected that a little girl could use non-verbal magic, something that even he hadn't fully mastered yet.

But when he tried to resist the spell, he didn't have time to cast a Shield Charm.

He could only roll aside in embarrassment to dodge the Disarming Charm.

But this only slightly delayed his defeat.

Hermione's second spell came quickly. This time, in a state of unconsciousness, the Middle Eastern wizard had no power to dodge, and after being hit by the spell, he fell into a deep faint.

Hermione's first match ended within five seconds, almost crushing victory.

Professor Flitwick, who was cheering for Hermione in the audience, had a pleased smile on his face. "She can already cast non-verbal spells. That's a very advanced skill."

"Did you teach her this skill?" Professor McGonagall looked at Alaric and asked.

"Yes, she grasped it easily," Alaric said casually, as if it were natural, "Hermione has always been talented, hasn't she?"

"Yes, I've always believed Miss Granger would be an excellent witch." Professor McGonagall praised Hermione with a sigh.

"But I didn't expect her to be this outstanding already."

"No, I'm not as excellent as the Professor said, it's just... just Alaric, he has taught me well."

After stepping down from the stage, Hermione, hearing Professor McGonagall's praise, blushed and modestly said.

"I certainly know Alaric will be a good teacher. Professor Dumbledore is already considering hiring Alaric as a professor at Hogwarts as soon as he graduates."

Professor McGonagall gave Hermione an admiring glance.

"But being able to cast non-verbal spells is not common in the wizarding world. And at your age, to be able to use non-verbal spells so proficiently, you're almost unique.

When did you learn non-verbal magic, Filius ?" Professor McGonagall looked at Professor Flitwick.

"It took me quite a few years to get good at it."

"Me too." Professor McGonagall nodded.

"Probably only geniuses like Professor Dumbledore when he was young could master non-verbal spells at this age. So, Miss Granger, you're already remarkable."

She didn't mention Alaric because, in terms of talent, Alaric was already recognized as surpassing Dumbledore.

Although Hermione had received praise from professors in almost every class at Hogwarts in the past, the praise she received last year was not as satisfying as Professor McGonagall's just now.

After all, the one who was used for comparison was Professor Dumbledore.

She looked happily at Alaric, and Alaric smiled back at her.

The second opponent was a middle-aged wizard from Italy. He was wearing a gorgeous suit, tall in stature, with deep-set eyes and a head of curly black hair.

Like the previous opponent, this Italian man also found it hard to believe that his opponent was such a young girl.

However, he was much more polite than the wizard from the Middle East.

"Oh, what a poor little girl," he said somewhat sadly to Hermione, "but don't worry, young lady, I won't hurt you. But if you're willing to withdraw from the match early, we won't have to worry."

However, even with such polite words, his disdain for Hermione was still evident. Hermione, angry behind her politeness, didn't give him a good look and just bowed to him.

"If you insist..." The Italian wizard seemed forced, bowed to Hermione, and then gracefully picked up his wand, preparing to strike an elegant pose.

But before his pose could be completed, a red spell had already flown towards him.

The Italian wizard was knocked out, flying away, his wand slipping from his hand and soaring high into the air.

Hermione accurately caught it.

"No, that's not fair!"

After the Italian wizard climbed up, he shouted loudly with a pale face.

"This round doesn't count! That damn girl ambushed me, which goes against the spirit of the duel!"

At this moment, all his elegance and grace were completely thrown out of the window.

However, the referee ignored his unreasonable outburst and still ruled it as Hermione's victory.

In the rules of wizard duels, after the two had saluted each other, the duel was immediately considered to have begun, which meant it couldn't be considered an ambush.

The Italian wizard, strictly speaking, was not weak.

But he underestimated Hermione's power and was too fond of showing off on the field, so it wasn't surprising that Hermione, who acted quickly, took him down.
