Rendell and Duncan Locke 20

Rendell and his brother at young age lost their parents,so they were brought up by Hadrian.Both siblings looked up to Hadrian as brother/father figure.The brother's were taught their ancestors history and even about the keys.

But Hadrian was not present Rendell would use the keys often with his brother, Duncan. They would often use the Ghost Key, and had many conversations with Chamberlain Locke.He was an athletic teenager and participated in track, garnering prestige there.This gave Rendell great confidence and slight arrogance,that he revealed the existence of the keys to his friends, including Ellie Whedon and Lucas Carravagio. They enjoy the keys for an unexplained amount of times.

Rendell because this confidence thought he could make his own key,so he brought his friends to drowning cave and used the Omega Key to open the Black Door , they allow Dodge, a demon from another world, to enter their world and possess Lucas. Lucas later killed numerous of their friends before Rendell himself kills Lucas.

This incident caused Hadrian to slap Rendell and yelled"I told you not to go to the Demon Door,not only that you even took your friends with you."

Rendell was angry spoke up"I made mistake,but we didn't allow the demon to escape."

Hadrian cut in"At what cost two of your friends and a demon almost escaped."

Rendell in anger yelled"You are not my father nor are you a Locke."

Hadrian clenched his fist,slightly feeling sad as he asked"So that's how it is."

Rendell didn't say anything and looked away.Rendell was 19 years old and he was enough so he didn't have right to order Rendell who was the owner of the house with Duncan.The relationship soured further every time Hadrian tried to make Rendell understand the situation.

With this incident Hadrian left,but Erin, Mark, Rendell and Ellie split the remainder of the keys between them and vow never to use the keys again.

Ducan already was traumatized by the incident was not sure if dividing keys was the best thing and said"I think we should talk with Hadrian,he knows more about the keys than we do,it's best to give it too him."

Rendell didn't like it having a strained relationship with Hadrian Rendell didn't want to beg Hadrian for help.As he shook his head and said"It is Locke's job to guard the keys."

Rendell also noticed his brothers situation,so he decided to make a key that bypass they Riffel Rule.But none were unable to make the key, it fell to Duncan Locke who succeeds in creating the Memory Key based off of instructions from the ghost of Chamberlin. However, once the key is made, Rendell and his friends used the Head key to remove every memory of the keys and incident from Duncan's mind.

When the Keepers of the Keys divide up the remaining keys and make a pact to protect them, Rendell takes the Anywhere and Omega Keys, Erin the Head Key, Ellie the Identity Key and the Echo Key. Mark takes the Matchstick Key and hides the rest throughout Keyhouse.

It was later on they find out that Dodge was still alive having infected Lucas's soul and comes back to the living when twenty-five years later, Ellie became depressed and desperate to see Lucas. She used the Echo Key to call Lucas' echo into the Well House on Keyhouse's estate. She believed everything to be fine, however she soon realised that she had called forth the demon Dodge instead of Lucas, her ex-boyfriend.

This was the start as Dodge would manipulate someone to kill Rendell and upon his death Hadrian would return back to the Keyhouse and starts reconnecting with Duncan,Hadrian found out Rendell had wiped most of Duncan's memories of incident and keys.

While Duncan doesn't fully remember Hadrian,but somewhere in his mind he trusted Hadrian and because of this Hadrian started once again staying at the Locke household.
