A secret forever

"No one is going home," Bella said. She stood in front of the door as she stopped Adriel who was ready to leave the cafe.

"Why?" Esther asked with a little voice afraid that the truth of what she and Daphne had been up to was known by everyone. If they knew that meant that they were going to tell Mr Mateo. Esther wasn't ready to lose her job today or any other day at all. If she lost her job because of Daphne, she was going to make Daphne feed her for life.

"How can you ask me 'why' as if you don't know the answer." Bella faces Daphne. "You need to tell us the truth."

"Move out of the way Bella," Nyla pushes Bella away from the door. "Just because Mr Mateo isn't here to close up the cafe does not mean that I'm going to let you do whatever you want," Nyla said strictly. Mr Mateo left the cafe early and left the remaining responsibility of the cafe to Nyla. She was responsible for closing up the cafe.

"Why are y'all pretending as if you don't want to know as much as I do," Bella grumbles.

From her voice alone Daphne could tell what Bella was referring to. She wanted to know about Kian. And even though the others are acting as though they don't care, Daphne knows that they also want to know. They were subtly watching her as she tried speaking to Kian earlier.

Daphne dropped her purse and sat down. She had a feeling that she wasn't going anywhere until she told Bella something.

"Are you okay?" Daphne asks Esther who looks scared.

Esther only nodded but said nothing.

"Okay. That's enough." Nyla said with a stern voice. "Give us an update Daphne." Nyla chuckled as she followed Bella to sit down beside Daphne. "Did you do it?"

"Did you seduce Kian?" Bella asked with excitement in her voice.

"Okay I have to admit, I'm curious too," Adriel said as sat down close to the girls. Even though he wanted to know if a robotics man like Kian would fall for something like that, he was still wishing that it didn't happen. He was still hoping that one day he would be brave enough to ask Daphne out without joking about it. But Adriel had a feeling that he would be rejected, Daphne barely looked his way, her eyes were always on Kian.

"I did try to seduce Kian, but it didn't work." Daphne sigh. Even when she was trying to make her voice sound like she was disappointed, there was still a happy tone to her voice. But the others didn't notice.

"What do you mean it didn't work?" Bella said, her excitement was starting to calm down. "How is it that he's able to reject a woman like you." Bella couldn't believe it because Daphne was so beautiful.

Nyla said nothing. She looked sad, as though she wanted Daphne's plan to work.

"No. That's impossible. Are you trying to say that nothing at all happened? Not a reaction? What is he, a stone?" Adriel asks. He was irritated, if only Daphne would look his way instead of Kian.

Daphne got a reaction out of Kian. It was something she thought was funny, and she didn't want to share. She wanted to keep that part to herself.

"Let's all forget about Kian and go home." Daphne stood up from her seat. She wanted to end the conversation quickly before her mouth started talking about things she didn't want them to know.

"Now that I think about it. I think I saw Kian running away during working hours." Nyla said. Although she had a little doubt that it was him. Because he was blushing. Nyla had never seen Kian blush before.

"Yeah, I think I saw someone that look like him, but I'm not sure, I didn't see his face." Bella thought back to the time she saw someone like Kian through the cafe window. "He was running away from the cafe."

"But why would Kian run away from the cafe?" Adriel asked, he didn't see anyone who looked like Kian.

Esther let out a nervous chuckle. "You guys are being ridiculous. Why would Kian run away from his uncle's cafe?" Esther didn't want to let the truth out, if they knew about what happened to Kian, they were going to figure out that he was coming from the store room. And if they knew that, they were all going to know about Mr Mateo's broken door. "I'm sure the person you both saw was just a random guy who ran past the cafe. Kian left the cafe early today, it might be the same reason Mr Mateo had to leave early, a family thing." Esther calmed down when she saw that Bella believed her, but Nyla still looked like she was in doubt.

"What was that?" Daphne whispers to Esther. She was surprised by Esther's sudden behavior.

"It's best we start going. Nyla needs to lock up." Esther connected her elbow with Daphne's, took both of their purses and dragged Daphne outside the cafe. "That was close." Esther let out a breath of relief. "I thought I was going to lose my job."

"What?" Daphne was confused and amused by Esther at the same time. She thought that Esther was overreacting because of what had happened with Kian. Even if Mr Mateo found out. Daphne was prepared to take all the blame. Everything was her idea and the only thing Esther had to help her with, was locking the door.

"Shhhh," Esther said looking back at the cafe in a way Daphne thought was overly dramatic. "Did you plan on telling them the truth?"

"No." Daphne smiles at Esther.

"It's best we keep everything a secret until we fix the door. No, I think it best we keep it a secret forever." Esther plans on watching Daphne to make sure that she won't end up saying things that she wasn't supposed to because Bella ask.

"I never planned on telling anyone," Daphne said truthfully. But from the looks Esther was giving her, she could tell that Esther still didn't trust her.
