First Blood

Jacob placed the bundles of wheat next to him, holding up his scythe. But before he could move up and ambush them, the City F soldier was getting annoyed.

"This is the third time I was sent to guarding some place, why don't you people just send me to the front already."

"Shut up, don't forget that you betrayed your people, and we took you in. Just follow the orders." Another guard replied with an angered tone.

"Well, whoever gave those orders is an idiot then!" Just as he finished, another guard smacked him with his rifle, pushing the City F soldier back.

A bruise appeared on his cheek, and his eyes flared up like the fire on his hands.

"You people should be lucky that we're on your side!" The man thrashed his hand, sending small balls of flame around the area, one hitting a patch of dirt next to Jacob.

An idea quickly came up in his head. In a moment, he placed the bundle of wheat above the dying flame, hoping that it could catch fire.

In front of him, the City F soldier was getting more and more pissed off at the others, shouting and cursing at them.

Jacob looked at the tents, seeing another opportunity.

'Alright, throw the wheat at the tents, maybe that can confuse them more or just destroy this place.' He thought. A smile quickly grew on his face as the bundle of wheat began to smoke, and in a moment, a fire started on it.

'Yes!'

The argument of the two became louder as they shoved one another, causing a disturbance and grabbing the attention of a few more guards.

Once all the bundles were lit, Jacob held up his scythe.

'Just like harvesting season!' The flaming bundles were thrown at tents and other parts of the camp, quickly causing the area to burn.

"Wait what's going on!?" A soldier asked in the middle of the confusion.

"Great, just great look what you did-" Before the man finished talking, Zeph came out of hiding, slicing the man in one single swing, killing him.

The rest immediately moved away, startled by what just happened. And before any of them could regain their footing, the rest attacked. Immediately gunfire erupted

A City G soldier scattered back from the rest as the battle quickly escalated, moving closer to Jacob's hiding spot. Zeph, Ella, and Clara all attacked them without mercy, wiping out anyone emerging from the tents as well.

From behind, Jacob saw his opportunity to accomplish one goal he had for so long. To kill a soldier of City G.

He gripped his scythe, eager to join the fight and accomplish one of the many goals he had, a chance to finally get some vengeance for what happened on that day.

"Someone call reinforcements!" The man yelled, getting up from the ground. Jacob emerged from the wheat, preparing to deliver a killing blow to the soldier in front of him.

The man fired at Jacob's teammates, trying to take each of them down, even managing to wound Ella in the chaos.

"Damn, these farmers can't just surrender huh!?" The man yelled in frustration, opening up a screen next to him to get stronger ammo.

"Like hell, we will!" Grabbing his attention, Jacob swung his scythe with all the strength he could muster.

The man was taken off guard, and in a split second, was taken out of the battle. The screen that hovered next to him shattered like glass, disappearing as its owner had fallen in battle.

But as he looked at the soldier on the ground, a ball of flame immediately struck his chest, throwing him to the ground hard.

"Finally, someone to burn!" His hands glowed, preparing another fireball, but before he could throw it, Jacob rushed for the wheat field, harvesting more and more bundles and using them to shield himself.

Balls of red fire flew through the air, with each one striking a bundle of wheat Jacob hastily made.

'My energy is going down quickly, I need a way to end this!' Jacob moved around the field of wheat, slowly turning into a flat area of dirt as Jacob continued harvesting more and more bundles of wheat.

The man slowly stopped, having used too much of his energy.

"Persistent rat, alright then!" He raised his left hand, and a ball of fire began to grow above it.

'Crap, a charge up!' Jacob thought, he looked around, noticing the burning wheat bundles. Another idea formed in Jacob's head, recalling a neat trick he had done with scythes before.

Like a hook, Jacob stuck his scythe into the thick bundle and swung it at the man like a ball.

The bundle struck him in the face, stopping the fireball and stunning him for a few moments. He rushed up the man, and with his scythe, slashed at the soldier twice, taking down the soldier. He looked around at the burning and empty field while gunfire continued from the camp.

'So this is my first kill huh?' Jacob thought, feeling almost proud of accomplishing one of his goals.

Jacob snapped his fingers to see how much energy he had left.

[Energy: 30/100]

'Well crap' He glanced at another stat in his system.

[Soul thirst: 50/100]

'Why is it going down that fast!?'

While checking his injuries, a text box appeared.

[Damn, I was late! I wanted to tell you about that rip ability!]

"Took you long enough!" Jacob yelled.

[Alright, that is on me. Anyways, for that ability, you need to find a person with a different system, alive of course. And select the rip ability. It should show their screen and you just have to shove your hand in it.] The text read.

"That sounds really wrong but alright then, what about the soul thirst thing?" Jacob pointed at the stat.

[Rip out their ability and see it go back up!] The text disappeared shortly after. Jacob took a deep breath and looked at the abilities once again. He pressed the rip ability, and his hand glowed red, ready to be used.

In the camp, more and more soldiers emerged from the burning camp, attacking his team.

'I need to help them first, then use that rip ability.'
