Evacuate!

"It seems many floors are suffering similar problems," Clara looked at the camera feed from her phone. Different parts of the facility were overrun, and multiple generators had also been struck with guards and scientists alike running for their lives as drones began rushing through the vents and attacking them without warning.

After looking for a while at the footage, Clara turned to Jacob, noticing the quest given above him.

"So it gave you another, your progress was 150 out of 200 correct?" She asked.

"Yeah, now it wants me to go kill those drones."

"Sadistic, never seen that in an AI before," Ella snickered.

[Who are you calling an AI!?@$] The two were shocked by its reaction, noticing and even hearing Ella's sly comment.

"Apart from that, we will complete that task once we get out of this situation," She ordered, everyone was eager to follow, not wanting to stay in the currently crumbling facility any longer.

Down the hall, they found an elevator. There were no other ways for them to descend down and evacuate other than the elevator, and with what power the place had left, they could only hope it was working.

The group immediately rushed to the elevator, seeing no other way out. To their surprise, the elevator still had power, just barely as the light inside was rapidly flickering.

"Better than nothing, just hope it still works." Ella remarked, directing the people inside before joining them as the door closed. Her shield was still cracked, having taken so many blows by the drones earlier.

"Thanks about earlier," Clara spoke with the two standing next to each other.

"Yeah no problem"

"I guess your gut feeling was right after all, just very long," She chuckled.

While the elevator continued its descent, a loud bang from above grabbed their attention.

"What was that?" Ella asked. From behind Jacob, Zeph prepared his blade, as if sensing something.

Before anyone could react, a drone sawed through the ceiling, peering down at the team with a bright red eye. But just as fast as it cut through, Zeph raised his sword up, impaling the drone and causing it to blow up.

A brief moment of silence followed before more drones sawed through the roof, accompanied by another hail of gunfire that struck many of the team members and forcing them to

"Well Jacob, this might be a good time to finish that thing's task," Clara spoke, raising her shield up.

The soldiers began stabbing at the roof with the spears, hitting as many as possible, but they only kept coming. In the middle of the chaos, Clara put her hand on a metal hatch that led to the top.

"Jacob, Ella!" She yelled outm, grabbing their attention, "Provide support from above and kill any drones that get too close, i will aid you from here!" She ordered in a clear and desperate voice.

Ella quickly understood the plan, replacing her shield with a new one and using more energy. Jacob was nervous, but it was either he gets shredded by saws and bullets, or fighting them head on and had a chance of surviving.

Snapping his fingers, he made a quick check for his stats and the task.

[This will be fun to see, rip them apart Jacob!@$] The glitch cheered with a large text blocking most of the screen.

Above, a loud ear piercing buzz filled their ears. Almost immediately, gunfire began and Jacob stuck close to Ella as her shield provided good cover against the hail.

The elevator continued going down as the entire swarm chased it, slowly inching closer by the second. From inside, Clara opened fire, taking down drones one by one from inside the elevator.

In the middle of the barrage, small groups split off from the swarm, rushing forward with saws ready to attack.

"Just like earlier, right?" Ella shouted with a smile.

The assault began, a dozen drones crashed down and rushed at the two, swiftly destroyed bt Jacob's scythe while Ella kept her large shield raised upwards, taking up bullets and falling drones from hitting the two.

Bright arrows flew from Clara's bow, lighting up the area above before disappearing as they struck a drone or two, causing them to fall.

No matter how many times Jacob swung his scythe and how many drones he destroyed, the swarm didn't seem to get any smaller. Frustration and adrenaline filled Jacob, taking more and more down and moving away from Ella's shield.

Fire rained down and around the two, exhausted and losing hope as the swarm kept sending more drones to attack them. At this point both Jacob and Ella were heavily injured, getting struck by bullets that they failed to block, and wounds from drones that cut them up before being destroyed.

As they went further down, explosions rung out once more, even lower levels were affected by this massive attack, and just as the swarm charged down, an explosion from the wall consumed the swarm, stopping them in their tracks and blinding the team from the light.

"Debris!" Ella yelled out just as Jacob tried to celebrate and calm down, and without warning, she shoved him down the open hatch, shutting it closed before a rain of concrete slammed down on their roof.

Jacob breathed heavily and fast while Rin hastily healed his wounds, feeling the sharp pain go away. Ella was also tired, trying to catch a breath from what they just went through.

"Well done you two," Clara thanked the two just as the elevator finally reached a lower level of the facility, where they hoped it was safe from the attack.

"I managed to get a contact for an evacuation ship for us, we will head somewhere far from this place," She added. The elevator was nearing its destination, and everyone prepared to start moving again.

The door slowly opened, in front of them, a large open area with a large transport ship in the distance was in the middle of bringing other surviving soldiers and researchers out of the area.

It resembled a metal box with thrusters on the side for flight. Clara waved frantically in hopes that the transport will see them, and to her luck, a soldier ran out and waved back at them.

"Alright, let's get out of here!" Clara yelled, and everyone ran towards the transport.

The remaining survivors managed to get on, and the man who waved at the team earlier hastily ordered them inside. Supplies and wounded lay on the floor of the ship.

Once everyone got on, the ship began to take off. As it flew away from the burning facility, and before its doors closed shut. Jacob could see the facility.

A massive building filled with countless halls and rooms, reaching towards the sky and surrounding the massive beam of light.

Down below, the city was overrun, smaller ships flew down below, a mix of allies and soldiers from City G landed on the city, one to conquer and one to protect it.

Jacob looked on in utter horror, the city he once lived in, was born in, being destroyed. Right in front of his eyes.
