Chapter 2

When I open my eyes, I already know who I am, which body I'm in, and where I am. My name is Yuuji, an orphan from South Blue and a young man who joined the Marines. The God (I refuse to call him other than God because he managed to send me to the other world) is kind enough to send me when I'm already enlisted into the Marines as Ensign.

He is also kind enough to give me a massive amount of knowledge to defend myself because this place is dangerous.

God decided to send me to the world of One Piece. I guess it was fitting. He wants me to have an adventure, and there is nothing more fitting than the world of One Piece for an adventure. He also wants me to help others and decided to make me a marine.

Not only does he give me Devil Fruit, but he also gives me other powers. It was the power of healing, the power that I was familiar with.

I'm not a gamer, but I enjoy old games, especially JRPG-type games, and among them is Final Fantasy tactics. So God decided to give me White Mage power. At the moment, it was weak, just like in the game. However, I can make them stronger by training and unlocking more spells.

The other thing I know I can unlock is Haki, all three of them. At the moment, I cannot use haki, but with enough training, I can unlock them.

"Alright, recruit!"

I snap from my thoughts and see the lieutenant walking toward us.

"You are now officially a Marine! However, you are still at the bottom of the rank! You need to prove yourself before you could call yourself a Marine. This will be your first assignment. You will be divided into five groups and each one of you will be placed under one of the captains."

I nod my head and wait for my name to be called. After waiting a few minutes, my name is called, and I join the fifth group. We are told to wait for our captain to arrive, and after waiting for another ten minutes, I can see a man in his mid-thirty arrive wearing a captain coat over his shoulder.

"Alright, men! My name is Brutus! You can call me Captain Brutus or simply Captain. For your first assignment, we will be going to Conomi Island, East Blue. Because of the high number of Pirates popping up every day, we need to create a safe zone where people can rest easy and feel safe."

Yeah. God decided to send me to an Era where the Golden Age of Pirate just started five years ago. The world is thrown into chaos as many people decide to become a pirate. They are pillaging the sea as if they are the owner of the entire sea.

Many islands starved because trading routes became almost non-existent. The Marines manage to hold an important location from pirate attack and slowly push back. While the world slowly stabilized, it was not as before, and there are still MANY people who died from starvation.

"This is not a time to get fame and adventure. WE need to fight against a horde of pirates to have a hold in the East Blue. The HQ said that there would be at least twelve pirates in East Blue, and they are not weak pirates either. Each one of them at least has a hundred crew, with the highest having eight hundred men on board."

I can hear a whisper coming from the people around me. They are starting to doubt their choice to join the Marines.

"I will not blame you for resigning and maybe you can join the staff division instead. I will give you thirty seconds to reconsider your choice. Walk away from here and you will not be blamed but once you stay, you cannot walk away without getting punished."

His words finally broke the man's morale. Out of fifty men, only twenty left, including me. Seeing us staying behind, Captain Brutus nodded his head in sadness. I guess he hopes more men are staying behind.

"Very well! You are now a Marine! Come! Our ship is ready to depart."

I nod my head and follow the captain to the ship that docked in the eastern part of the base. It was a regular Marine ship. The standard ship is a cruiser-like vessel that has three masts, two with two sails and one with a lateen sail. It has six cannons on each side of its hull and four larger cannons situated on the bow. A large circular structure is located in the middle of the ship, and the Marine symbol and name were painted on the sides.

When we arrive on the ship, I can see there are other people already there.

"This will be your second home for this assignment. My lieutenant will show you the way to your living quarters. However, before you go, I want to ask one thing. Is there among you who is a doctor?"

I raise my hand and see all the people looking at me.

"Oh? You are a doctor? Can I see your license?"

"Yes, captain. Here you go."

I give him the license I got in the past. It was another thing God gave to me. Knowledge of how to be an expert-level doctor. To support this, I have a license as a Marine Doctor that allows me to be a surgeon and healer of the ship.

After reading the card, the Captain gives it back to me and says,

"Anything you want to say about yourself before we go? I need to know my man's ability before we go to the maw of a lion."

"Emmm, I also ate devil fruit in the past."

"Oh? What kind of Devil Fruit?"

"May I take out my knife?"

He looked at me for a second before saying.

"Go ahead."

I nod my head, take out a knife from my blade and slit my hand with it. I wince a little and quickly cast the Cura spell. A second later, the wound healed, and my hand was as good as before.

"What kind of Devil Fruit is that?"

"I don't know sir. Other than healing, it also lets me do this."

I decided to use my real Devil Fruit and split myself into two. Whoa. It is weird. It is like I have two visions at once. It is like having two bodies at once but with a single thought.

"Hmmm. Splitting yourself and healing, huh? That is a useful power. From now on, you will be our Ship Doctor."

"Errr, just like that, sir?"

"Aye. Other than your useful power, you are honest. Remember that we are brother and sister in arms. We are a big family without a blood connection. The first step to becoming a great family is to have honesty and you manage to take the first step. The second step is trust and I will be trusting our brother and sister in your hands."

I give him a salute before saying.

"I will not disappoint you, sir!"

"I know you won't lad. Now! Raise the sails! We will go to East Blue!"
