Tragedy 2

Pain eroded her heart as she remembered the good times she used to have with her best friend, filled with the guilt of killing him. She wept till there was no more tears in her tear jar" I'm so sorry Lin, it was never my intention for all this to happen to us, please forgive me"

The angry mob of villagers didn't give up the search, the matched forward like men going for war to Jenny's house demanding that she be brought out at once. In fear , her mother tried to gather her words " What are you all talking about?" she asked in confusion not knowing why they would come suddenly in search of someone that they've not seen for months. Jenny's father who was know as Sir Anderson sneaked quietly up stairs leaving his wife to handle the crowd.

" Daughter open the door" he called out " I have to get you out of here" turning the door knob, he realized that the door was open. Fearful now he entered the room " Daughter, daughter" he called out searching the room but there was no one. Tears filled the middle aged man's eyes but there was no time to cry now. He then made his way out of her room but came faced with some of the men who were outside at staircase making their way up to her room pushing the man aside. " There's no one here " growing the more with anger " Where did you hide her ?" they now turned to Anderson "She was in her room just this morning" he tried to explain but was cut short. " This morning" a man who seemed to be heading the crowd said and chuckled" Don't lie to us . Sir Anderson, your daughter was seen by all of us this afternoon at the market square, she ran into the orchard and in our search for her, set the orchard ablaze and since she didn't run out, we thought she might have come back here so don't fool around with us". They dragged him down to the living room were his whole family were being held.

"You might as well just wish you never had a child" the head of the crowd said to them declaring they be hanged and burnt as a punishment for their sins" It must be because of your sins that God gave you a child as such, you might as well just burn to ashes".

They were dragged out of the house, the house set on fire. Joyce, Jenny's mother, cried out pleading for their lives " Please I beg you, if not for our own lives, spare that of my children, they are innocent" but all her words fell into deaf ears. Speechless, Jenny's father watched everything flashing before him, his wife in tear together with his two children, angry men dragging them to the orchard where they would be hanged and burnt and there he was , silent and couldn't do a thing about it, a place he has lived his entire life now crumbling to the ground" What did I do to deserve this " he asked himself as tears rolled slowly down his eyes" Dear Lord have mercy upon us, your children and these people ".

Everyone one now watching as the men prepared to hang the Jenny's entire family, mothers locking their children inside their houses covering their ears from the dreadful screams of pain coming from outside.

Hearing what was as clear as screams and people chanting all manner of things, Jenny went quietly to where the sound was coming from. Right there and then, at the entrance of the orchard, the garden of Roses, on the biggest tree were her father, mother, brother and sister hanging with their bodies on fire. Motionless, she stood, watched as the crowd feed on their bodies with their eyes, they were dead and she couldn't save them. The anger and pain in her heart now could not measure to anything. Looking in the direction of her home now a bright flamey light. " It's all gone" realizing everything that had just happened.

Tears rolled down her eyes like rain and with each roll, dark crack- like lines formed on her face, her eyes turned black complete, with no fear , she walked towards the crowd. Her fingers black, everywhere she steps her feet decayed just like that.

" She's here someone shouted from the crowd. Her head which was faced down now looked forward. " Burn her too" they said. But no one took a step forward. She kneeled down gently placing her hands on the ground, raised her head up to the miserable souls who were about to face death worse than hanging and burning in flames and smiled.
