The following morning I woke up before him, I looked at him asleep and remembered our conversation last night. I became upset, I wanted an answer but how would I approach it without losing him for good. I got up slowly but he woke up "Everything okay?" I nodded "Yeah." He sat up when he heard someone knock on the door, he jumped up and ran to his window "Shit!" He ran and grabbed his shoes "We need to get out of here!" I grabbed my stuff and followed him; he ran down to the garage and jumped into his car. I looked at him "What's going on?" He looked down "Get down!"

He opened the garage and reversed very fast, spinning his car in the road and rammed into a couple of police cars. I heard bullets hitting his car, he sped up; I looked up and back to a road full of police cars "Nick!" He ignored me calling his name and switched gears making us speed up; I looked back to see red and blue lights. He spun his car and went off-road. He looked at me "Put your seatbelt on!" I reached back trying to grab it, shaking scared. He looked back in his mirror "Fuck!" He started rambling to me but I barely understood him "Call my dad! Tell him to get the lawyer down to the police station if we don't get out of this, it'll be okay. I promise."

He slammed on his brakes and came to a complete stop. The police flew past unable to slow down in time and he reversed his car, turned his wheel, managed to turn his car and pulled his gear to drive again. He looked at me and laughed "Hell yeah!" I was beyond pissed but scared too. He got back onto the main road and kept at high speeds, he grabbed my hand but I pulled it away. He glanced at me as his smile faded "What?" I was ready to cry, he began slowing down; he pulled into a underground garage. I sat in the car and he waited for me to get out; I got out and stared crying "What is wrong with you?!?"

I walked around to his side, he frowned "I'm sorry." I wiped my eyes "I don't want any part of this anymore. This isn't how I see my life!" He gulped "Lily I.. I can't say anything to make you feel better so I'm not sure what you expect." I became more furious "Are you saying you don't care that you just almost killed me?" He laughed "Did you die?" I slapped him "You clearly don't care!" He frowned "Lily." He tried hugging me but I pushed him away "Don't touch me!" He gulped "I'll take you home okay." I exhaled "Stay away from me."

I went to the garage door, Nick exhaled "I'll take you home, just get in." I turned to him "Fine." I got into the car and we drove back in silence, we pulled up and a police car was in front of my house. He drove past but pulled around the block, I got out and walked to my house without another word. I walked in to find my first cousin, Casey there. She was talking to my dad and they both looked in my direction once I walked in.

I sat down on the couch, Casey was my mom's cousin who lived in New Mexico and we moved here to be closer. My dad told me they were close, I didn't think she would come here. My dad came over and sat beside me "Do you want to talk?" I began to cry "I.. you were right dad." He hugged me "I'm sorry." I pulled away "Um.. why is she here?" Casey sat down on the recliner "Heard what's going on? Want to talk about it?" I shook my head no "Where's Milly?" She smiled "With her dad and TJ, I only brought Elijah and Nicholas." I frowned "Kinda scared me with the police car outside." She laughed "Yeah I just got off work, I'm sorry." My dad stood up "I'll let you two talk."

She got up and sat next to me "So heard you have a boyfriend?" I smiled "Not really." I loved her, she was like my best friend. She knew my mom far longer than anyone else and always understood my mistakes, she always says I'm her spitting image with my personality and looks. I didn't always have a close relationship to her at first but after my mom passed away she came around alot more. She had her own trouble and life so it was understandable; that's why we moved here because my dad wanted us to know our mom's family. Casey had a normal life, she had a family and career, she knew nothing of the troubled pasts of my parents at least as far as I knew. My dad wanted that kind of life for us but when you're born into it makes it difficult.

Casey pulled out her phone and set it down on her leg, she looked back up "How you feel coming and staying with me for a bit? Give you a break from your dad?" I was iffy on it but I always enjoyed going to her house; I nodded "Sure." She picked up her phone "Awesome. Don't look at it as a punishment, just make it seem that way to your dad." I smiled "Will do." She got up "Connor!" He came into the living room, she looked up at him "She agreed coming with me." I tried to hide my laugh but it was hard. He nodded and left back to the other room.

We got up, Casey yelled for my cousin's "Let's go boys!" They came downstairs "Do we have to?" She crossed her arms "You both have school, move it." I grabbed a few clothes and we went back to her house. We walked in to my uncle and other cousins sitting in the couch, Milly jumped up "Lily!" We went up to her room and hung out; Casey came up "Do you need anything?" I looked up "I think I'm okay." She nodded and left. I stayed with them for a few days.

The next day, Casey took all of us to school; I got out of the car and bumped into Nick who tried to avoid me. I hollered his name but he kept walking, I turned around and realized why he kept walking. Casey was in her work uniform, as a captain she is pretty intimidating. I told her goodbye and chased him down; I grabbed his backpack "Nick." He turned to me "Did you snitch on me?" I looked at him confused "That's my cousin and no why would I do that?" He exhaled "Look, you were right yesterday. I shouldn't be around you." He started walking away I grabbed his arm "Stop."

I dragged him into the school janitor closet and locked the door "Why are you being like that?" He exhaled "I'm not the guy for you. I wanted to be but seeing how innocent and free spirited you were I just can't involve you in my dumb shit." I frowned "What are you saying? You have.." he cut me off "Yes I have feelings for you but you don't belong in my lifestyle. Look how upset it made you yesterday. I won't be that person Lily." I felt a relief overcome me, it had been on my mind all night. He frowned "I wish my life wasn't so dangerous."

I don't know what overcame me but I fell into his arms and kissed him. It kept escalating, I was pulling his clothes off and he wasn't stopping me. We kissed holding each other leaning against the desk when he stopped himself "I'm stopping this." I pulled his body back "Stop pushing away from me!" He looked into my eyes "This isn't how I see this happening." He stood up, pulling his shirt over his head. I felt embarrassed "You were all for it before!" He frowned "I have more respect for you then doing it in a janitors closet Lily."

He handed me my clothes and waited for me to get dressed, he opened the door and left. I wanted to cry but I kept it together. I walked out and bumped into Brooklyn; she looked at me in disgust "Wow. Hoeing it up with Nick in janitor closets now? Gross." I went around her and left the building. I ended up ditching school.
