Chapter 11 Aftermath of the Green War

"Rose did it!" Miya exclaimed, "But..." She then turned to look at Chrys and Amber beside her.

Rose had finished destroying the cannon and began heading back. The huge army of Beastfolks began to scatter when the cannon was destroyed.

"Is this the right choice?" Miya asked herself.

Miya then began doubting her actions.

If we didn't stop them, they would have killed everyone here, but now that I think about it, they had a reason to do this. '

Chrys said something about the people of Viridis causing them suffering, which led up to this. Is this the right choice? Or is there a right choice to begin with? ' Miya asked herself these questions.

Rose landed beside them and turned off her wings.

Yeah, we did it! We saved Viridis Island! " Rose jumped in joy.

"Yeah, now if you remember the choice you made earlier, You choose the safety of Viridis over your own life, right? " "Crys said to her."

Yeah, I think so. Can we perhaps change that? " Rose asked, giving a serious glare while wearing a bright smile.

"No," Chrys answered bluntly and in an intimidating way.

"You! You weren't going to let us go in the first place, weren't you? " Amber angrily said, while distancing herself from Chrys. Rose also did the same.

"I don't think I ever mentioned anything about letting you girls go," Chrys stated in a casual tone.

"Oh no, is this what he meant when he said dealing with the problem from earlier?" Isn't there a better way to solve this? ' Miya asked inwardly while trying to think of a way to diffuse the situation.

"Let us go!" We swear! We won't tell anyone! " Amber said she was trying to make a deal with Chrys.

"The problem isn't about you telling someone." It's the fact that you know me; that is the reason you will die. " Chrys stated, turning down her attempt to make a deal.

"Wai-wait, no one has to die! Let's just talk this out, okay? " Rose said, trying to calm the situation.

"There isn't anything to talk about. You two know me, so you must die. " Chrys replied in a cold voice.

"Why do we have to die because we know you?" Amber asked, still glaring at Chrys.

"Cause if you don't die now, you will die later and cause me trouble on the way. I will make sure it's quick and painless for both of us. " Chrys answered, walking closer to Amber.

"Wai-wait, what do you mean by that?!" Rose asked Chrys while moving between Amber and him while wearing a face full of desperation and frustration.

"Stop!" A loud, manly voice yelled from somewhere. This caused everyone to stop what they were doing.

All four of them looked in the same direction with a curious expression. It came from a pathway into the city. There stood a man in a lab coat.

"Hmm, well, hello, Dr. Tenebris." I will be done with your daughter in a moment, so please wait your turn. " Chrys said, after recognizing the man.

"I would like you to stop right now, Mr. Cheria, or I will press this button that calls the entire Titan force guarding me situated not too far from here." The man called Dr. Tenebris, the father of Amber, threatened Chrys.

"Oh, you've got some good leverage there. It's not good at all. But, okay, I'll listen to your demands." Chrys said she was not the least bit intimidated by his threat.

"Okay, but first let's go to a more secure location than this. Is that alright?" Dr. Tenebris asked Chrys for his permission.

"Sure, but I do hope you know the situation you're in." Chrys agreed and began making his way to Dr. Tenebris.

Miya, Rose, and Amber looked at each other, confused by the deal that just happened.

"Trust me, Amber. I'll get you out of this situation unharmed, like always. " Dr. Tenebris said to his daughter. Amber only nodded, but frustration could be seen on her face.

"Rose, and..." the other one. I would like to ask you two to follow us, if you may. " Dr. Tenebris asked politely.

Rose and Miya followed them as well. Amber is keeping a good distance between herself and Chrys, while Rose can be seen on her guard.

They arrived at a nice-looking place. Amber and Rose seemed shocked at the place they stopped at.

"Dad, why did you lead him to our house?" Amber asked Dr. Tenebris.

"This is the most secure place I could think of." "Amber leads the other two upstairs, while I and Mr. Cheria talk about our terms." Dr. Tenebris asked Amber in a nice and calming tone.

Amber couldn't resist her father's request, which then led her to lead Rose and Miya. Before going upstairs, Rose stayed downstairs for a little longer.

"Rose, please keep my daughter safe." Dr. Tenebris asked in the same way he talked to Amber.

Rose nodded very reluctantly. Amber then led them upstairs to a guest room, while Chrys stayed behind with Dr. Tenebris.

Downstairs, Dr. Tenebris led Chrys towards the living room and urged him to sit with him. Chrys obliged and sat down.

"Firstly, I'd like to thank you for helping with dealing with that cannon." Dr. Tenebris thanked Chrys, even so much as bowing to him.

"Get to the point," Chrys said in a serious tone.

Well, hmm, how should I say this? I'd like for you to spare my daughter." Dr. Tenebris made his demand.

"Rejected."

"Even if I let you go off this island without informing the authorities?" Dr. Tenebris tried to press Chrys down with another threat.

You should know that even if you dropped this island on top of me, it wouldn't stop me. Now, I know you want something else other than your daughter's safety. What is it? " Chrys asked him, looking very intimidated.

"Well, it isn't that different."

"Ahem. I'd like you to take my daughter with you and keep her safe with you. Dr. Tenebris asked politely.

Raising an eyebrow, Chrys replied. "No. What are you thinking about? I'm not trying to run an adoption center here, you know? "

Dr. Tenebris got on his knees and begged Chrys. "Please, I beg you, take her with you."

After a long pause, Chrys then sighed before saying "You know, it isn't my first time getting this type of request."

"What kind of request?" Dr. Tenebris asked without removing himself from the ground.

"The kind of request of someone who is about to die."

"Oh, is that so?" I'll tell you the whole story then. Firstly, I'm the one who gave those weapons to the Beastfolks. " Dr. Tenebris said.

Chrys looked at him with a newfound interest. Seeing as how Chrys was listening, Dr. Tenebris continued.

"I am part of the group you oppose." I was given plenty of chances to take down Viridis, and this was my last shot. " Dr. Tenebris said bitterly.

Why don't you just leave? It's not like they could kill someone as valuable as you. Chrys proposed a question.

"That is because my wife, Amber's mother, is being held hostage by them." If I didn't go to them right now, they would kill her. " Dr. Tenebris answered, biting down on his lower lip.

"Do you know the place of their hideout?" Chrys asked another question with eyes filled with expectation.

"No, they usually send messengers to inform me." Dr. Tenebris answered, shaking his head.

"Haaaa, it isn't that easy, huh?" How much does your daughter know? " Chrys let out a tired sigh before asking another question.

"Nothing. I'd like to keep it that way or she will charge at them herself if she knows." Dr. Tenebris replied.

"So, you are leaving for your wife without your daughter knowing anything?" Chrys asked, clearly displeased by his decision.

Dr. Tenebris slammed his fist to the floor, causing it to bleed whilst saying "You're not seriously trying to make me decide between them, are you?"

After another long pause, Chrys said. Fine, we'll leave immediately. Make sure you say your goodbyes; it's probably your last. Make it count. " Before standing up from his chair,

"It seems you are not as cold-hearted as they portray you."

"I'll arrange transport. I assume you guys are heading south." "Doctor," Tenebris asked, standing up from the ground.

Chrys stood beside him and asked. "Yeah, did 'they' tell you that?"

"No, it was a guess." Don't worry, I won't tell them that. "No parent would endanger their child after all." Dr. Tenebris said confidently.

"Yeah, you're right." Chrys sounded a little down when he said it.

Chrys waited outside while Dr. Tenebris walked upstairs. He went into the guest room.

"Dad, how did it go?" Amber asked immediately after seeing her father enter the room.

"We have come to terms, little miss. Mr. Cheria is waiting outside." He said to Miya.

Miya nodded and walked out. Rose sensed the mood and walked out as well. The only people left now are Amber and her dad.

"Amber, I'd like you to go with that man." Dr. Tenebris asked Amber with a sincere tone.

"What?! What are you saying? " Amber said, in a surprised voice.

"I can assure your safety with him." And unfortunately, I can't go with you. " Dr. Tenebris responded, still talking in his normal calming tone.

"What do you mean?! I can't understand what you are saying! Amber said, still looking surprised.

Listen, the people that man opposes are bad people, who would try to hurt you to get to me. So, the safest place for you is with him. " Dr. Tenebris said, grabbing Amber's shoulders with his hands.

"Bu-but... I want to be with you." Amber said, still shocked at what is happening.

"I know, but please understand." Dr. Tenebris said bitterly as he began to cry as he hugged Amber tightly. Amber didn't know what was happening but still hugged back and cried.

They stayed like this for a couple of minutes before stopping. They walked down the stairs and reunited with the three downstairs. Miya and Rose just learned of the terms they agreed upon a couple of moments ago from Chrys.

The five of them walked towards the west station and took a private lift that Dr. Tenebrus opened.

When they reached the ground, Dr. Tenebris led them into a stone building. Inside was a truck with a roof. Dr. Tenebris handed the keys to Chrys.

Chrys got in the front and Miya, Rose, and Amber got in the back in silence. They then began to drive off.

Before they could get far enough, Dr. Tenebris shouted. "Remember Amber, I love you!"

Tears began to drop from Amber's eyes before standing up from her seat and yelling, "I love you too, Dad!" They both waved back at each other until they could no longer see each other.

Amber sat down in tears as Rose moved beside her, comforting her. Miya began to think of her family as well. She felt her eyes beginning to feel warm. A couple of minutes passed before Amber broke the silence.

"Wait! Why are you with us, Rose? " Amber asked, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Well, because I'm your friend, duh," Rose answered with a smile.

"But, what about your Amber attempted to ask again but got cut off.

My family? You should know that all peacekeepers are orphans, right? Besides, you and Dr. Tenebris are the closest things to a family that I have. " Rose answered, still with a smile on her face.

"Ah! Okay... thank you. " Amber, having realized what she said, thanked her.

Rose seemed to ponder for a bit before she said it. "You're welcome. Now... when are you going to take these off? " Rose said as she pulled Amber's hairband off her head, revealing cat ears.

"Wait! Yo-you knew? " Amber asked in a surprised tone.

Yeah, remember when we had a sleepover at your house? "Man, you're quite a heavy sleeper now that I think about it," Rose said, still giving her a warm smile.

Amber's whole face began to turn red as she grabbed Rose's face and started messing with it.

Miya let out a little laugh. Amber, who heard, turned to her and said "What are you laughing at?"

Miya began to giggle a little harder as she saw how red her face was. Rose got free from her grasp and began giggling as well. Amber buried her face in her hands.

"Oh yeah, if I remember correctly, your name is Miya, right?" Rose asked Miya.

"Y-yeah," Miya answered.

"You might already know my name is Rose and that is Amber Red Face." Rose introduced herself while teasing Amber even more.

"Waaaah!" Amber said as she began grabbing Rose and shaking her back and forth. Miya continued to giggle to herself because of the scene
