C13 A Day With Isla and Seth's Past 1/7

"Sis! Sis! wake up!"

My alarm clock was ringing again.

We were already at the where technology was at it's peak, and we utilize it's purpose to the max. Especially in this generation's crisis, where gigantic plants have infested the buildings and hideous monsters have inhabited almost all of this world's land and seas.

"Snooze."

The technology in today's age is so convenient.

They can even replicate the exact sound of my little bro's voice! It's like he's right beside me. Ultimate high definition audio is awesome! This way I won't feel lonely every time he's not around.

"Son? Is your sister not awake yet?!"

"Not yet mom! This girl's a real heavy sleeper."

I had my brother's voice as a ringtone for my early morning energy booster. It's really cute whenever he gets angry, I always imagine the irresistible expression he makes in my mind and I love it.

"Snooze"

"Hurry it up son, the water's flooding the bathroom!"

"Then turn it off! I can't reach the faucet even if you ask me!"

"I'm cooking breakfast, so please wake her up and let her do it!"

"Geez sis, you're too tall for your age, wake up already and do some chores! What's the point of all that height if you're not gonna use it?!"

Why is my voice recognition not working? and why is another woman's voice shouting recorded in it!?

No, wait… Did I even ever record those lines?.

Meh, who cares about the small stuff?

"If it's for my brother I'd even defeat the demon king!"

*slap

"Damn you monster! Is that the best you've got?"

*slap

"No! Don't! please! not my beautiful face!"

*slap

"I said not my face you piece of shit! Raaaaahh!"

*boom!

I fell off my bed because the demon king was too powerful for me to take on all by myself. Strangely enough, my bed was above my brother's, but I felt no pain even though I fell off at such a height, and what's even more strange was, I can still feel the demon king's attacks on my cheeks.

"I must have woken the power within me!"

"Hey sis? Please get off me."

I saw my brother who broke my fall below me covering his nose because I smell bad. I can't help it, my mouth just wouldn't stop leaking.

"Oh, sorry. I was trying to save the world."

I quickly got off my squished little brother who saved me from the demon king's wrath as he was about to deal his finishing blow.

"Oh really? Were you so preoccupied that you forgot to take a bath-Ow Ow Ow! Hey stop! It hurts!"

I pinched his cheeks as he tried to make fun of my morning smell. It was the blood, sweat, tears and saliva I produced while I was sleeping.

"Yes, my cute little brother! This smell! It's the demon king's blood mixed with the buckets of sweat released by my glands from all the hard work!"

"You're disgusting sis! Mom said the water in the bathroom is overflowing, go turn it off and maybe use the water to wash your body?."

"I will do my duty for the sake of my cute little brother! Woosh!"

I ran out of the room and went to the bathroom to turn off the faucet that was too high for my brother to reach.

Why was this installed so high in the first place?

I took a quick wash, changed my smelly pajamas and prepared the table for breakfast. Mom was cooking our breakfast so to lighten up her load I cleaned up a bit while after setting the table.

"Sweetie, is the table all ready now?"

"Yes, Mom!"

"Go call you brother down the lobby for breakfast please, I asked him for something down there earlier."

I walked close to the elevator only to find out that it was out of order. We lived up the 4th floor of the building. The entire place was crawling with thick vines and the elevator often gets jammed by the never ending growth of these 'weeds'.

I changed my path towards the kitchen to take a knife and charged to the stairs which was also extremely vegetated.

While running, I gripped the knife aiming for one of the plants and thrusted it with full force.

"Critical hit!"

The knife borrowed deep in the shrub then started growing again. It's growth was revolutionary but really dangerous as it tried wrap around the knife.

"This is a problem."

I can't rescue my captured brother with all these persistent plants!

"Damn you demon king! Why must you hinder me in this life too?!"

I shouted with all my might.

"What's up little Isla? Need some help?"

I heard a familiar low-pitched voice behind me. I quickly pulled the knife off the plant, surprisingly the plant was docile to my retraction, so turned around while hiding the blade behind my back.

I saw a handsome looking guy, around 18 years old, staring at me with a gentle smile.

He had a remarkably straight bridge nose, free of any humps or curves similar to that of centuries-old sculptures of Greek gods found in books.

He was really tall, taller than me.

His ash gray hair was rugged and had messy bangs, his deep-set dark blue eyes and his fair white skin together with his fresh out of bath scent, extruded a cool aura around him.

I swiftly averted my captivated eyes to hide my flustered face.

His name was Lai (lie) Marcus and he lives a floor below ours.

"Uhm- I can handle this alone..."

I asserted with a fading tone.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes! now please goao-ahhh~"

I accidentally let out a luscious voice as I felt something touch my hind.

I turned to face what it was and saw a branch growing out from where I stabbed the plant, it was poking my butt.

"What was that? Are you alright?"

"The branch-I mean no! It's nothing!"

While keeping quiet about the lewd situation, I pushed him away with my hands as he came close.

"Woah! Be careful with the knife there… Is everything okay? Your face is bright red, you know?"

"Sorry! Rather than that Lai, what are you doing here?"

"The elevator was down so I-"

"Kyaaah!!!"

The branch behind me started to grow even more and rammed the left side of my butt. The force tickled me and I let out a loud shriek.

I took a step forward to distance myself from the lecherous plant, only to trip on a root and fall in Lai's arms.

"Hey I said be careful."

"Thank you nature."

It was a blessing in disguise.

"Nature?"

"I-I mean, thank you for catching me!"

"Isla! Is your brother still not there yet? The food is going cold!"

"Oh! Right! I have to call my brother who's playing down the lobby for breakfast."

After I heard my mom's shout, I got off him in an instant.

If it weren't for my mom's reminder, I would've already forgotten what I was supposed to be doing here.

"Breakfast? I was on my way to eat outside too. Let's go down together?... or do you not want to go with me? "

"I'll go with you. Just until the lobby."

I immediately agreed to his lovely proposal.

"Okay then, shall I?"

I stepped out of his way as he offered to open up a path for us to move forward from the plant blockade.

He held his hand out to the direction of the stairs and whispered:

"Inferno."

His dark-blue eyes glowed with black ash circling inside while the greenery in front, burned to crisps as fire started to bursting off his palm.

"So cool."

"Haha! let's go?"

"Hey, do you have to eat out?"

"Huh?"

Lai lives with his brother who's my age named Seth. That brat must be sleeping right now, he's just waiting for his handsome brother to deliver food for him.

They are only able to survive because of Lai, he is a powerful blessed person who is using his strength to make money for a living.

"Mom made too much food, so we're probably gonna throw it out. You can bring Seth too."

"Then I'll take you up on that offer."

After we called my brother from the lobby we went back to our place and ate breakfast together and talked nonsense.

"Is Seth not coming?"

"He said he was still sleepy from watching movies all night, so he slept some more."

Seth didn't make it as Lai said he wanted to sleep more.

That brat, always letting his brother do all the work! Not that I do mine, but this was actually a good thing, no annoying kid around to ruin my morning.

"Mom! Lai is really strong! We were stuck at the stairs earlier and he cleared the path in an instant! I want to be a blessed person just like him!"

"Hahaha! Isla, weren't you gonna go to the cathedral again today?"

"Yes I am! This time! I'm gonna get it this time!"

"Sis, you're hopeless, so you should stop going there. Just stay at home, do some chores as well, instead of wasting your time daydreaming."

My brother tried to stop me, but my will is strong!

"No! I am the destined hero! I will be the one to defeat the demon king! And you will be my heroine!"

I pointed to my brother who stuffed his mouth with food before he suddenly coughed some of it out after getting caught off guard by my surprise declaration.

Good thing he already swallowed most of it.
