"So let's start and end this Opening Ceremony, shall we?"
Her Holiness Austra Keshan started by lifting Her pile of papers up to the level of Her chin.
"Out of thousands of applicants, we selected 224 youth as the best and most suitable Archstudent for this newly born academy, a love child of the God of Death."
She said loudly, with a proud look on her face.
"And for this, I say 'Congratulations!' to all of you who've made it this far, you all have the privilege to be proud, yet don't get too far or your big head will explode!"
Along the childish voice came, and She raised Her hands to the sky. Kind and friendly, she felt so motherly. Yet Her face somehow looked a lot younger than any of us here.
"A round of applause for you lot…"
Together with Her lead, we clap our hands proudly, filled with joy and a sense of relief. Not for us who came from the mainline though, getting here is more about competing to achieve the highest score rather than for a letter of acceptance.
The lady then clenches her right hand in the air, and all of us stop creating motions.
"Now, let us talk class—"
However, when She started continuing Her speech, a couple of faint voices polluted Her stage with their tattle. Her eyes lit up, staring at them full-on with murderous intent.
Not all the archstudents came from a military background. Some are high school graduates, to be precise the Sky Scientists from the City Above the Clouds, who didn't get the teaching of complete silence when someone on the higher-order is speaking.
Her Holiness Austra Keshan is a Musician, a title belongs to all the 156 members of the Darkness tribe and Light tribe who live on the Mainland. Every single one of those musicians ascends to Godhood following the law made by the Creators.
Nevertheless, Musicians were already braindead powerful even before being bestowed by godly prowess. Using the power of music, they rule the flow of battles. With every single note spawned from the sound they made, a weapon comes to conquer.
But that… is a story for another day. What's more important right now is a musician, are known for their sensitive hearing. Disturbance like chattering can highly annoy them when they are being the center of attention.
And for this sin, the whole room is fucked.
*Tch!*
She transformed from gorgeous to breathtaking, literally.
"Forsaken— cinder… it hurts!"
Just by the click of her tongue, She took off the seal that suppresses Her godly aura. It was beyond a terrifying experience. The air suddenly grew heavy, my body felt like its being torn apart, my throat dried out as if I just swallowed the sun.
Death was somehow started to look tempting. Anything is better than this!
After seeing every archstudent falling from their chair; gasping for air, She then snapped Her fingers, and the world's back to feeling lively. Note to myself, never pissed off anyone who's a member of the Holy System.
"Anna, you okay?"
I looked at my princess as she tried her best to re-attain her pace. It was a horrifying sight to behold.
After 13 minutes have passed, this hall was finally back to its original condition, with everyone being civilized on their seats, not a single word dared to come out.
"Back to the topic, let's talk about the class group."
Seeing all Her archstudents are well behaved, Her Holiness continued Her speech, with a bright smile on Her face, as if nothing ever happened.
"As much as I loved you lot equally. My Sweet Crow… likes to play favorites."
She always seems so happy when the topic came about Her husband.
"Not far from the east of this building, stand a couple of boards with all of your name on it. There listed all the classes you belong to, along with your grades, supervisor, and class number."
With a gesture pointing at the right of this room She then proceeds.
"Class 1 is the darling of His interest, consist of only the smartest archstudent from each combat classes, but since no more than 32 individuals for every classroom, some combat classes might not be included." She added.
"Now please, we already took too much time for this ceremony."
From the tone of Her voice, She clearly asked us to leave this very room.
"Enjoy your study~"
With a heavenly smile, the fair lady then for the last time snapped her finger. From the note she made, a tiny drum popped out and beat once.
A ray of light then appeared and swallowed Her whole. Not a trace of Her remains, as She was already being teleported somewhere which I didn't know.
"That's something I'm sure to remember."
Said one of my cousins out loud after seeing Her left, along with a sigh of relief.
"Come! Let's see the boards she mentions, I wanted to see where the God of Death put me."
I invited all my cousins, energized by enthusiasm.
"You dirty water, what a showoff!"
With that, all the ten of us then storm out of the auditorium hall and rushed ourselves to the boards where they listed our classes (room).
There are 39 boards in total, each for every combat class. Together with my 3 male cousins, we checked out the list assigned for Santi Waraney, the combat class three of us possessed.
"Praise the Sun! I'm on Class 1!"
I said loudly along with a sarcastic tone painted over it.
"Control your nonsense Crown Prince Sahasya, we all knew this shit would happen."
The both of them looked pissed at me, not cause of envy for my grade though, they just think I'm a dirty water for rubbing it on them.
"Still... 999 out of 1000, what point did they take out from your assessment."
Questioned them while looking at my grade. Which by the way only differs a couple of points from the two of them. It's a given for the main bloodline from every tribe to be times better than the normal folks.
"Probably my manner." Said me jokingly.
"Then I would take 100 points if I were the God of Death."
The three of us laughed our hearts out.
Suddenly a melody of violin colors the air, it was a signal for all the archstudents to enter the classroom. Even without being told all of us could instantly know since it's a message played by the God of Death himself.
"Well see you after school, boys!"
The three of us then go our separate way, since each classroom was built on its own building.
On my way to Class 1, I saw Anna already waiting for me, not far from the entrance of our classroom's building. Her eyes looked at me as if she's playing poker, but her eyebrows clearly said she's pleased to see me.
"Well well, dear lady of mine… looks like fate weaved our treads together."
I said as I offer my left arm for her to grab on to.
"Can we even get divided into different groups?"
She asked while holding me tightly; resting her head on my shoulder.
"Ahahaha, of course not o sweet butterfly."
With care, I stroked her hair tenderly, then whispers, "None shall separate us…"
"None."
