41 Green's Progress

'Wha... What... I can't believe it! I actually made an energy ball!!'

Green thought happily as he brought down his outstretched hands and walked up to an unconscious Derek.

A few moments ago, Green came out of the gymnasium and met Drex fighting with Derek, he instantly knew from their first moves that Derek would lose badly and end up getting injured so he decided to interfere in order to rescue him.

He raised his palms up and tried to gather his magic energy on it just like Jack had been teaching him but it took him some time till the tiny energy ball that was the size of a fist finally materialized over his palms, once he saw it, he knew that he didn't have any more time to waste because Drex was now walking slowly towards Derek with extreme killing intent.

Without wasting time, he pushed his hands forward and the energy ball flew at the speed of sound, knocking Drex by the sides and sending him flying away.

Green was elated, he couldn't wait to break the news to Jack but before that, he had to take Derek to the infirmary.

"Are you crazy?!!"

Bernard said loudly to Drex who sat submissively before him in the detention room with his head bent.

"How dare you attack a first year student on the visiting day?"

"..."

Drex was so scared that his lips and tongue suddenly became uncooperative. He couldn't bring himself to utter a word in front of a monster like Bernard.

"Huh? Say something fool!!"

Bernard's voice increased and he stood up and slapped his hand loudly on the metal table.

They were in a small dark room with a table and two chairs facing each other, this room was the detention room, where unruly students were taken care of.

Though the room was dark, Drex's nocturnal vision enabled him to see the numerous blood splatters on the walls and ceiling of the room, some of it was even on the table and it was evident that someone had unsuccessfully tried to scrub off some of the blood stains there. Drex couldn't even begin to imagine the sort of treatment that the law breakers faced here.

His eyes twitched as he stared at the blood stains that were on the table where Bernard's hand was and all he could perceive at that moment was the stench of dry blood that now filled his nostrils, the fear seemed to have extremely enhanced his senses...

He was so stricken with fear that he couldn't reply Bernard but that was his mistake because the next moment, a powerful resounding slap decorated his cheek.

WHACK!!

The slap knocked Drex back and he fell down with the chair under him.

"Ah!..."

Drex exclaimed and scrambled to a sitting position while holding his cheek tightly as he crawled away from Bernard.

"Better start talking. Why did you decide to be so stupid?"

Bernard barked ferociously,

"I.. I'm sorry sir, it was unintentional"

Drex moved away till his back touched the wall and he gulped in fear.

"You know, you're so lucky that you're a member of the hounds or else I would've dealt you the beating of your life"

He grabbed Drex's collar, raised him up and slammed him against the wall.

"Ugh! T...th...thank you sir!"

Drex managed to say as his back struck the wall.

"I have a job for the hell hounds"

Bernard said calmly as he stared into Drex's eyes and dropped him to the ground,

".... So I'm letting you go scot free"

"Thank you sir! I appreciate!"

Drex screamed and prostrated on the ground, not minding the dirt.

"If this repeats itself...."

Bernard turned and gave Drex a glare filled with intense murderous intent before moving to the door.

"Yes sir"

Drex replied dejectedly.

School Infirmary,

"Just like that?"

Jack asked,

"Yes... Though it took me some time to materialize it, I actually ended up doing it"

Green replied, they were both talking in the waiting room outside the infirmary.

"Can you do it again?"

"That seems to be the problem, I've tried to do it again since then but it's not working...."

Green started while looking at his palm,

"....I can feel the energy tickle in my arm but I just can't materialize it"

"Hmmm..."

Jack smiled and closed his eyes briefly before saying,

"Then I guess my theory was correct?"

"Your theory?"

Green asked with a curious expression on his face as he turned to face Jack,

"Remember when I told you that your magic may have a mind of it's own?"

"Yes"

"It's very possible that you were only able to tap into your power because you wanted to use it to rescue someone, that counts as a goal to work for, don't you think?"

"Yes.... Now that you mention it, it's quite true"

Green said and leaned back on the chair,

"And if you can replicate the feeling that you had when you wanted to rescue Derek, you may end up getting the hang of your powers"

Jack suggested,

Green quickly sat up in his seat,

"What a wonderful idea! Let's go try it out, quickly!"

He exclaimed and began to pull Jack up from his seat in excitement.

Inside the infirmary,

Derek's eyes opened slowly and he had to squint his eyes because of the white light that filled the infirmary room.

'Argh... Where am I? What happened?'

He groaned and tried to sit up on the bed but a beautiful female nurse quickly appeared by his side and put an arm on his head to prevent him from sitting up,

"You need to rest, Mr Cameron, the damage to your body wasn't much but the drugs that you were given requires that you have lots of rest for efficiency"

She said professionally,

"What... Happened?"

He asked her, his voice was barely louder than a whisper. Derek hadn't incurred much damage from his squabble with Drex but he had been given a heavy dosage sedative that intensely slowed down his body processes.

"It seems that you were in a fight"

She replied softly,

"A... Fight.."

He said as the memories of the day's events flooded into his brain, he scowled as he remembered how he was defeated shamelessly,

"Who brought me here?"

"One green haired kid who goes by the name Green"

She replied snappily and scooted over to another bed to assist another student who was in the infirmary.

'Damn!'

Derek exclaimed in his mind and clenched his fists tightly,

'Imagine! Have i become so weak to the extent of being rescued by a Novice mage?... Man, 001, you've really fallen off...'

It was only a matter of seconds before the effect of the sedative kicked in and Derek fell into deep slumber.

[Battle Arena: Land of Snow]

True to Jack's words, Green was finally able to tap into his power whenever he thought about saving someone but the downside was that it required a great deal of time to materialize on his palm and the energy ball was no bigger than a fist.

"We'll have to work on that"

Jack said with folded arms as he watched the mass of crackling energy dancing afloat Green's palm.

"Yes..."

Green started,

"...we still have till the end of this term to make me a better mage strong enough to beat Derek"

"Yes.. I believe we can do it"

Jack said finally.

Tenebris' Castle,

FLAKE CITY,

Northern Federation,

Tenebris was on his gold throne in his dark and empty throne room, dressed in a golden colored garment adorned with ornamentals befitting a king. He sat with one hand supporting his chin as he stared into nothingness.

Ever since Jack disappeared into thin air, he decided to make the northern Federation his base as he waited for him to return and face him again, he hadn't perceived Regina's power on this realm yet so he assumed that the power he needed was not on this realm, he just needed to wait for Jack to show up so that he would defeat him once and for all and move on to other realms in his quest for Regina's power, his pride wouldn't allow him to abandon a realm without killing the strongest person in it.

While waiting for Jack, he decided to get stronger by Earth's standards and began to create his own battle arena but his battle arena was so complex that he couldn't complete it on his own so he ended up leaving it as an incomplete battle arena.

DRRRING!!!

His phone rang out while vibrating on the table, he lazily looked over at it and breathed a sigh of exasperation when he saw the caller ID,

....Wilhelm.

He raised his hand and the phone levitated from the table and landed on his palm,

"Hello"

"Heyy, Mr Bristene, how are you doing?"

"Cut to the chase, what do you want?"

Tenebris hated talking to people on phones because he wouldn't be able to read their minds,

"Hehe... Always straightforward as usual huh?..."

Wilhelm trailed,

".... There's a donjon party that is been formed, I wanted to know if you would like to join"

'Donjon huh?'

Tenebris thought and remembered what Wilhelm told him about donjons on their first meeting,

'...But for some reason, in the past few decades, we have been able to find these seals inside donjons...' (Ch. 9)

"Do you think I'll find a seal in it?"

Tenebris asked after a moment of silence,

"It's a super rare donjon so the probability is 4/5"

Wilhelm replied,

"4/5 huh? Alright, I'll come"

Tenebris heard Wilhelm heave a sigh of relief,

"I'll email you the details of the donjon..."

Tenebris hung up before Wilhelm finished speaking and smiled maniacally,

"4/5... Interesting"
