35 Sam's Confession

"Our friendship. Your soft hearted DID and Green are making you too soft and that is something we do not need for survival, remember?."

Ryan said calmly,

"Plus I've been seeing more of your DID personality. What's wrong Sam? Are you hiding from someone?"

"Yes"

"Really?"

Ryan was shocked to hear that Sam was hiding from someone, who could it be?

"Who is it?"

"..."

Sam looked up at Ryan and said,

"I don't think I'm getting soft, I think you're the one who's getting hard hearted. For some reason, it seems that you now loathe been associated with me, can't you now see who I'm hiding from?"

"What? You're hiding from me? That's a lie! How will I hate been associated with you. I owe my life to you"

Ryan said,

"Then why didn't you go to fresher's night with me? Why did you start seeing me as a domineering person?"

Sam asked, her voice was shaky as she spoke.

"Huh?"

Ryan exclaimed,

'Why's she talking like this. I thought she wouldn't mind'

"Answer me Ryan! Why didn't you go with me?"

Sam asked,

"Nothing really... I didn't think you'd mind"

Ryan answered lackadaisically,

"You didn't think I'd mind... Ryan, you didn't think I'd mind... Can't you see what's happening to us?"

She sounded very disappointed,

"What. What's wrong with you Sam? You're not the type to act emotional"

Ryan asked, he had a very confused expression on his face.

"Ever since we met, we have never done anything separately? Why do you want to start now?"

Sam asked,

"We're becoming adults now, it's high time we started doing things separately, don't you think so?"

"I can't believe you're the one saying this Ryan. After everything we've been through"

"Look here Sam, I appreciate everything you've done for me and I'm deeply grateful but... That doesn't mean that I'll spend the rest of my life with you"

Ryan explained.

"..."

Sam didn't know what else to tell him, she turned away and tears dropped down her eyes as she remembered Green's statement during the fresher's night.

"You have feelings for him..."

"Wait, don't tell me..."

Ryan started as he realized where Sam was heading to,

"By any chance, do you have feelings for me?"

*Sniff sniff*

"Yes"

Her voice was barely louder than a whisper.

'What the heck.... So that's the reason for the strange attitude lately'

Ryan realized.

"Sam...."

He said softly,

His voice was so compassionate and kind that Sam wanted to embrace him and cry in his arms but she received the shock of her life when he shifted away from her and stood up.

"Huh? What's wrong Ryan?"

She was confused,

"I'm sorry but I can't see you that way. You're like a sister to me and even if I was to accept you. We won't work out, you're just too clingy for my liking"

Ryan's words was the last straw that broke the camel's back as torrents of tears flooded down Sam's cheeks.

"Hey hey I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry"

Ryan said and attempted to console her,

"Leave me! Leave me alone!"

Sam screamed at him and he backed away.

"I'm... I'm sorry"

When he noticed that his words were not making any impact on her, he turned and walked away.

She cried silently and stared speechlessly as Ryan walked away.

"...Then you have to come out clean and tell him, I'm sure he'll understand"

She suddenly remembered Green's words in her head and the tears flowed freely.

'You're a liar Green, Ryan doesn't understand'

'Well... That didn't go as I expected...'

Ryan said as he left Sam crying in the park.

***

At the top of the academic building roof,

Soft calm breeze blew against Green's face as he stared at the school's surroundings.

'Aaah... what a nice feeling'

He thought,

He felt like taking a good rest because his whole body was aching as a result of the workout that morning.

Suddenly he heard footsteps coming from behind and he turned to see Laura walking up to him, she held a beautiful porcelain vase in her hands.

"Hi"

She said,

"Hey"

He replied,

"You've been discharged?"

"Yeah... I'm a fast healer"

She said as she walked up to him and stood beside him.

'Is it just me or does everyone seem to be a fast healer these days'

Green thought,

"What are you doing here?"

She asked,

"Well... I needed some air so I decided to come here"

He replied,

"What about you? What are you doing here?"

"Well... I saw you when I was coming back so I decided to come and see what you're doing here"

She replied,

"Oh... So what's the vase for?"

Green asked and gestured to the vase,

"Hehe... I saw it at the store and I loved it so I bought it"

She said and stroked the vase,

"Really? How much?"

He asked,

"99 stubs"

Green's brain had a reset as he heard the price,

"99 stubs!! What the hell??!"

"Huh? Is something wrong?"

"I know you're wealthy in the real world but this is the school system!! Don't you know that you're not supposed to spend so much stubs!"

Green said,

Laura was obviously a spoilt child because as Green said that, she feigned annoyance and picked up her vase to leave, she knew that he was saying the truth because she didn't have more than 50 stubs left in her account balance and since she was so accustomed to her extravagant lifestyle, she spent her hard earned stubs however she pleased.

"You're such a spoilsport"

She said as she took her vase to leave.

"Hey wait up!"

Green said and quickly held her hand to prevent her from leaving,

"What is it?"

Laura said in feigned annoyance and looked at Green,

"Don't tell me that you're annoyed"

Green said with a naughty smirk on his face,

"Leave my hand alone Green"

She warned,

"Come on"

Green said to her,

"I won't repeat myself again Green, leave me alone"

Green stared at her without removing his hand but he regretted that because the next moment, Laura pulled him with surprising strength and the vase fell out of her hands and broke to pieces on the ground.

CRASH!!!

Meanwhile, Laura fell back because she didn't gauge her strength well and Green fell down on top of her with their faces few inches from each other. Instead of Green to stand up, he started screaming.

....

'I can't believe that Sam has feelings for me... She should know better than anyone that it can't work between us... Man, things are just so...'

Ryan was thinking while heading towards the class when he heard a loud sound of something that broke on the roof.

CRASH!!!

'Huh? What's going on there?'

Ryan though and ran quickly to the roof. The classroom floor was directly under the roof so it didn't take him up to 30 seconds to reach the rooftop.
