20 Scents

"Do you see anything?"

Bernard asked, he was standing in front of the patrol car dressed in a black long sleeved shirt and black trousers.

Two guards were inside the woods, few metres away from where the camera caught Green and Jack.

"Yes sir... I see something"

One of the guards replied over their communication device.

"What do you see?"

Bernard asked enthusiastically,

"Oh... Nothing, it's just a rabbit"

He replied as he flashed his torchlight at the rabbit. It looked up at them with it's big black beady eyeballs that glistened in the white light of the torchlight.

"Aw... Look at that little cutie"

The other guard said,

"Stupid fools! Search for humans and not animals!"

Bernard yelled at them over the communications device.

"Yes sir!"

"Sorry sir!"

They apologized and began to search for anything that was out of the ordinary but after some minutes of fruitless searching, they turned and returned to the patrol car.

"Any thing?"

Bernard asked them,

"No sir, nothing"

They replied drowsily and entered into the car, staying outside for so long in the night was making them feel sleepy.

Bernard frowned at them and walked into the forest.

When he was sure that he had gone out of sight, he removed his clothes and shifted into a brown furred 4 foot werewolf, after the transformation, he began to sniff the air...

*Sniff sniff*

Air....

Leaves....

Soil....

Two unfamiliar human scents...

'Yes, that's it... Two people were here not long ago but where are they?'

Bernard thought,

He smelled the air more to find the owners of the scents but he couldn't pick the scent of any more humans, just little animals and trees.

'I have to report to sir about this, I can't find the owners of the scents'

He transformed back into a human before wearing his clothes and returning to the patrol car. With the sirens on, the car roared to life and shot back towards the principal's building.

As the car drove out of sight, the area where Bernard had sniffed began to glow with a white light then Jack and Green materialized out of nowhere.

Somehow, Jack had regained consciousness when the patrol car was coming so he activated his battle arena in order to prevent them from being caught.

Jack's battle arena, Land of Snow was very cold so Green was shivering like a rain drenched chicken.

"That... was... close"

Green's teeth chattered as he spoke,

"Where... Was ... That? It was cold.."

"I'll explain everything to you tomorrow, go back to your dormitory, you need some rest"

Jack said to Green and patted his shoulder,

"You too Mr Jack"

Green replied and began to walk back slowly to his dorm, he was shivering as he walked. It was almost time for lights out.

'This kid... how did he get such a terrifying power? I can't even begin to comprehend how far that power will take you.. You might even end up surpassing me'

Jack thought as he looked at Green's retreating figure,

".... Please... Protect... Him..."

Suddenly, Jack remembered the words of the beautiful green woman in the vision.

'Who is she? She looked so much like Green, could she be his mother?...

Argh... So many questions, I better go check on my clone's memories, I may be able to find something at the library of knowledge'

Jack thought and retired to his own quarters.

Bernard stood upright with his broad shoulders and bulging biceps that filled his black long sleeved shirt, he had hazel brown eyes that contrasted handsomely with his brown hair. He had a very stern expression on his face that made him look like one of these army generals. It was that intimidating stature that made Wilhelm make him his right hand man who would help him with minor issues at the school.

Standing before Wilhelm, he delivered his report from their search.

"Hmmm"

Wilhelm stroked his chin as he pondered over what Bernard just reported,

"What do you plan to do sir?"

Bernard asked,

"Since you have their scent, I want you to find them."

Wilhelm ordered,

"Search amongst the students, teachers and non academic staff, even the guards. Make sure you find them"

"Yes sir"

Bernard bowed and left Wilhelm's office.

'That power...'

Wilhelm felt awed as he remembered the goosebumps that he felt from that power wave.

'I must find the owner and recruit him'

Wilhelm smiled and clenched his fists on his table.

The Next Day, during recess.

Green was chasing after the boy with the half dark red and half light red aura who was on his way to the cafeteria.

"Hey, Derek"

Green called out to the boy. The aura danced beautifully over Derek's head as he looked at it.

"How'd you know my name?"

Derek turned to him with stern eyes, he was giving Green a very suspicious glare.

"Take it easy Derek, I asked my friends"

Green had actually asked Ryan who was more social to help him to find Derek's name.

"Tch!"

Derek scoffed and began to walk away,

"Stay away from my personal information or else..."

"Don't get me wrong here"

Green said and walked after him,

"I just wanted to thank you for your help during the physical ability test"

"Thank me for what?"

Derek turned to him with a confused gaze,

"For helping me, weren't you the one who brought me to the infirmary?"

Green said, a nervous smile had already begun to make it's way to his lips.

"No, you're not my responsibility, why would I take you to the infirmary?"

Derek replied callously,

"..."

Green was speechless, he had no idea that Derek was so impolite.

'If Derek wasn't the one who took me to the infirmary, who was it then?'

Derek suddenly stopped in his tracks and bent his head as if he wanted to apologize for his rudeness,

"You... Something has changed inside you, I can feel it, you're now like me right?"

"Like you? What do you mean?"

Green asked in confusion,

Derek opened his mouth to say something but he stopped midway and left Green, standing in the hallway with his conflicting thoughts.

'I'm now like him, what does he mean?

Could he be talking about magic? Mr Jack hasn't even told me whether I can use magic or not so he can't be saying that I'm like him, it's not just possible'

Green thought as he stared at Derek's receding figure.

A slap on the back jolted him back to reality,

'Ryan!!'

He yelled in his head,

"Hey! What was that for? You scared m..."

He words hung in the air as his brain processed the person standing in front of him who wasn't Ryan.
