Chapter six- a while

12pm

I've been waiting for this day. The day I could finally see Arianna. Just the thought of her name makes my heart sink.

I get butterflies by thinking of her. Today was Monday. So I didn't need to go to class.

I don't think anyone would. I look in the mirror. My hair down and wet as I wore a plaid shirt, shorts, and some Vans. The typical. Nothing really special since there was going to be a lake where I was going.

Mezy was tagging along. I didn't feel like getting lost on my first day walking there. I step out of my room and look around the quiet dorm. People still asleep, but they weren't going to the lake since it was only open for a certain amount of time. Mezy comes out of his room and wake to the front door. I lift my eyebrows and head with him.

"Morning, bih," Mezy says.

"Morning, Mezy," I reply.

"Ready to see your future girlfriend?"

"She doesn't even remember me, probably," I laugh.

Mezy chuckles as we walk down the hall. Such a huge dorm. The larger window beside us gave us a view of the sunny weather.

"Don't say that. If you remember her, then she remembers you," he says.

We open the door to feel the humid air touching our skin. For the longest time we walked in silence. Mezy doing nothing but scrolling on his phone we we walk side by side.

It was awkward for me. I barely knew the man. He barely knew me. I could tell we would get along well.

I look him up and down as he focuses on his phone.

I got a little annoying. I wanted to know where Mente was. All I did sometimes was think about how strong she could be. I was the only rank 1 freely walking around. I heard there are more rank 1 worthy people who have yet to move up on the scales.

But not Mente. Her stats are God level.

"What's your ability?" I awkwardly ask.

Mezy looks up at me closes his phone out as we turn into the woods. The trees towering over us as leaves fall from the branches. Deers running as birds chirped in the background. I could feel nature touching me as we walk along this beautiful path to the lake.

"Immortality. I've tried everything. I tried killing myself, stabbing, gunshots, jumping to my death, yet I can't die nor can I feel pain." Mezy looks forward.

"Same here..." I look at the side of his face as we walk.

"Minus the trying to kill myself part." I add.

Mezy chuckles.

I look forward to see the view of my life. The lake. A large pathway around it. Waves of beauty as students everywhere danced and chased each other.

Sand covered the general area.

Most people wore their bikini as the guys wore shorts and no shirts. It was like a mini beach. I look around as Mezy waves his hand at a group of girls that walked by.

Some music played while people made out on the gazebo table.

A beach, lake party? I slide my hands in my pockets and walk towards the crowd of people with music blasting in my ears.

"hey Mezyyyyy." A group of seven girls all say at the same time while they walk past us. I raise my eyebrows to see nothing but cleavage and butt cheeks. Some beautiful Asians and darlings they were.

The girls get out of sight and Mezy turns to me, nudging my arm with a smirk on his face. "Might get the slurpy today," he jokes.

I couldn't help but laugh. We both laugh before he looks around.

"Where do you think she is?" I ask.

Mezy smiles hard and points behinds him with his thumb. I nearly jerk my whole body around to see her.

My heart stops as Mezy nudged me again, walking backwards to where the group of girls were headed. I watch Arianna laughing with her friend. I swallow.

I couldn't say anything. The music dimmed in my ears.

Everything in my focused on her. She would think I was a creep. I put one foot forward, using everything I had to go and speak to her. I had to speak to her.

That's when I almost died.

Jason walks up behind her. What the hell was he doing here?

He wraps his arms around her from behind. She leans back, kissing his lips. My heart stops for a few seconds. If nothing in this world could kill me, what I just saw nearly did. Anymore would be the death of me.

I quickly look away after 10 seconds of them making out in front of me.

I stand there unable to say anything. Mezy left me here thinking I'd be talking to Arianna. I couldn't believe what I had just seen.

"You good?" I hear.

I look around to see Kyutie looking at me.

I sigh and sit down.

Kyutie sits next to me and looks forward. She wore her jeans, hoodie, and vans. Hair was down this time as she wore a flat beaked hate backwards. I could see her Asian eyes, big lips, pale face, and cute nose.

Much more different from what I actually expected. "I followed you because I know how much you like Arianna. I've known Mezy for some years now. So he'll leave you and assume you'll get the girl. I just didn't want you to be alone." Kyutie begins to drag her fingers in the sand as the crowd of people begin to dance away from us./ Leaving us in a pit of silence.

I look to my left to see Arianna hugging and playing with Jason.

All made me so angry. So jealous. I couldn't help but to just stare knowing I was supposed to be with her right now.

I woke up so early to be tortured by this sight.

"The more you stare the longer you'll feel sad. Besides, there are plenty of girls in this academy for you. I'm sure Arianna isn't the type to cheat, so trying to talk to her isn't the best idea. Jason and his dirty, little friends will taunt you if you try and talk to her." Kyutie says.

She was kind of annoying. Always so smart. She spoke about everything I was just thinking of as if she could read my mind.

Her power was speed, not telekinesis.

My hair blows in the wind and I stand.

"I think I'll head over to the cafeteria for lunch. Joining?" I grunt as I stand. Kyutie was already standing.

"Yeah. I hate being in crowds of people. Makes me uncomfortable. I'll rather eat now then to eat with a bunch of rank 3's roughhousing on the cafeteria floor," Kyutie replied.

We both walk side by side. Kyutie ranted about things I forgot about. I just thought about Arianna dm Jason. I may sound like a hater, but they weren't such a good couple.

She dated a jerk. One that teases others. That made her just a tab bit unattractive to me. "I'm going to get ready for the first Arena Contest," Kyutie said. My eyes widen and I look at her as we walk onto the path that leads through the woods. "Arena Contest?" I ask.

Kyutie nods her head.

"First one is December 15th. It's October. We have two months to prepare. I've been waiting for this day to come," Kyutie says.

"We fight other students to upgrade?"

"Yes. I'd be going for Mente. She hasn't done a contact in a year. So she probably got a little weaker. Then I want to go for Sky. She's pretty strong despite having a demon that speaks all the work for her," Kyutie says.

I look down thinking of joining. I must be stupid for even considering it.

Kyutie and I walk in silence for a little. My legs felt like jello every time I thought about Arianna and Jason.

Kyutie looks down with her hands in her hoodie pocket. She walks so fast. Her hair dragging behind her in the wind as she surpasses me in walking just before we reached the exit of the woods.

Kyutie stops at the entrance.

I stop a little ways behind her, waiting for her to do something. Her back faced me as she just looks ahead at the giant city like academy.

"Well... I guess this is where we part ways?" Kyutie asked.

I just look at her confused. My heart racing and mixed emotions.

"I'll be going to the cafeteria. Thought you'd be joining," I say. Kyutie turns to me. "You know... you're the first person I actually talk to in this school. Feels comfortable to speak with you. Never thought I'd say that. And I have some studying I need to do. See ya, Mann." Kyutie gave a smile and walked away.

I watch her. She was so awkward. Nothing I couldn't handle. I was awkward myself in a lot of ways.
