The day before the end

It was a cold morning, staring at the rounded window of a white laboratory in a biological research faculty, I was drinking a hot coffee, tasteless and odorless like always, however that day ended to be completely different to what I was used to live until then, but let's remember what happened until that disastrous moment that ended all arrived.

After that nasty coffee cup, I went with my research team, most of them were astrophysicians who looked to life in other planets, meteors, asteroids or any kind of body, but that morning they found it, the holy grail of any fanatic ufologist, the sign of extraterrestrial life in a comet, well not that amazing just the chemical precursors of life, but it was interesting, that comet was in direction of the earth's orbit, it would pass by the night and follow it's predicted pathway to the cosmos, after the light-spectre decomposition they discovered that the comet was mostly and organical soup, made by water, proteins, lypids, carbohidrates and amazingly DNA, that was maybe the greatest discovery of twenty-first century, so they couldn't loose a sight of that comet, they were the first research team to discover it after all.

The calculations of the trajectory were made and inmediately all the space agencies were contacted to gaze at the spectacular phenomena they witness at night, but while all of this happened a grim idea past my mind

"If there is any kind of life precursor like DNA or ARN that could be potential risk for all human race, as an unknown virus or something worse could be unleashed, causing countless death, worse than any pandemic ever fought by humankind in ancient times, but that was hard for that to happen, unless any substance could enter the atmosphere unharmed, it was ridiculous to think like that", who would say that my thougts were correct.

It was twenty o'clock, the comet would pass in a few hours and everyone in the laboratory would be in first line to look every detail of that cosmic event, but something went wrong really wrong, an insane amount of green light enter the atmosphere, it was teal colored, like a cyan neon light, the geiger counters began to beep strongly as we passed more time on the outside, luckily we could enter the laboratory before all that radiation could affect us, however it was too late, many of us would suffer effects from that strange radiation within the following days, but it wasn't that the most important worry, because the trees were growing as big as skyscrappers and as thick as houses, we tried to scape the atrack of the living branches while taking all valuable objects of the laboratory, in the end must of us survived with almost no harm but the world we knew would not be the same after that day.

Well after the trees stopped to grow we settle down a campement to pass the night, but i felt a tingle in my hands whenever I touch something and I saw in a corner of my left eye all information aboit it, chemical composition and distribution, certain ant species can detect pheromones and use them as a language, maybe this ability could be part of a mutation by radiation or the viral cells that somehow interacted with my DNA, causing me to be able to analyze any kind of chemical substance. This would be really helpfull for a chemist or a biologist, but I need to research further, the other members of my team didn't show any kind of ability, well tomorrow we would discuss any discovery we made.

I look at my cellphone, while I cover myself in a sleeping bag, the date is February twelfth of twenty-thirty, i write this diary while I am still alive, my name is Edward, Edward Smith, a biologist who will try to live in this living world.
