Give Me A Break

Vic and Meghan are childhood best friends. Both vowed to take care of each other when they were still young. Soon… both of them grew up, sharing happiness and sadness together. As Meghan grew up as a pampered child, she always gets everything she wants. But for Vic, he grew up in a hard way as everything must be done by himself so he became matured and independence. Meghan moved into Vic’s house when she had a fight with her housemates for one silly reason, she wanted to go to Paris with them but they gave her lots of excuse not to go along. She felt hurt and went straight to someone whom she knew won’t make her in pain, Vic. Even though Vic told her for millions times not to act so childish but she stubbornly refused to move back. As her best friend, he just shrugged it off, maybe already knew her since young and let her taking the empty room in his place. Like a happy little girl, she agreed to follow few rules made by him. One, don’t make the place in mess. (Meghan always throws her belonging everywhere but because of this rule, she has to collect back all the things as Vic refuses to pick them up or he will pick them up but straight away throws them into the dust bin.) Second, don’t bring anyone to the house especially boyfriend. (Vic doesn’t like anyone especially man to come into his house without his permission as the house looks more like a crazy one with Meghan loves to put the flowers and things she receive all around the living room and other rooms, even making Vic’s things ‘disappear’ under her things.) Third, don’t bring any reporter to the house and no photo shooting in any part of the house. (Vic hates reporters very much.) Fourth, if she wants to go somewhere for few days, tell him first so he won’t need to cook for two. (Meghan can cook but she just pushes the responsibility to Vic, too lazy) Fifth, never tell anybody where she lives or with whom she lives with. (Vic expects Meghan to respect his privacy as he does to her.)

I'm real

Vic and Annie sat on the chair, having their dinner. Annie actually brought him there without telling him that Meghan was also there. Meghan and other models have a show tonight, showing the new collection of clothes by Zhing Yi.

"Vic, I want to ask you a question and I hope you answer it honestly," Annie started, feeling nervous. Vic just nodded, drinking his coffee.

"Do you love Meghan?" Her question almost made him choke. He quickly reached the napkin, looking at her in starlet. She sighed.

"Since she moved out, you have changed. You're never happy anymore. I saw you always sighing heavily all the time, even when we're dating. And… when you saw her commercial or picture in the magazine, your face told me that you miss her so much."

"Annie, I…" Annie signalled him to stop talking.

"Vic, don't say any word yet. Let me finish first. The moment I share with you are unforgettable but I'm not the one you truly love." He didn't say anything. Then, both looked at the front as the models began to walk around, showing the clothes. Vic couldn't turn anyway, just looking at Meghan all the time. Annie watched him without saying any word. Her heart felt hurt but she must be strong.

Vic looked back at Annie, feeling regret for looking at another woman, even in front of his own girlfriend. She smiled.

"This shows the truth, Vic. You love her more than you love me…"

"Annie… I…"

"Don't lie to me, Vic. Your eyes shone brightly when you saw her." Vic gulped.

"I love you, Vic but I want you to be happy. That was what she does when she willingly let you to be with me." Vic gasped.

"She loves you, Vic. I realize it but I'm too selfish. But… my selfishness brings three of us to nowhere…" He looked at her in confuse. Annie took a deep breath before putting her hand on his.

"Even though this hurting me but I want you to be happy. Go to her, Vic. She needs you more than I do; just the way you need her." He looked at her. She nodded, trying not to cry. He sighed, leaning to kiss her forehead before walking to the backstage.

.....................…

Meghan sighed, sitting on the chair. She watched others changing their clothes. She looked at the mirror, touching her face slowly before pulling the hair bands and pins off her hair.

She looked at her reflection, gasping to see him standing behind her.

"Must be a dream… must be a dream…" she murmured, shaking her head.

"No, sunshine. I'm real," he replied, smiling. She gasped, turning around, only to see him there, smiling. She sniffed before hugging him tightly.

"Shh… don't cry…" he murmured, stroking her back gently. Other models looked at them, smiling.

"Are you real? Are you real?" she cried, looking at his face. Then, with a deep breath, she pinched his cheek.

"Meghan, it's hurt," he groaned. She quickly touched his cheek, rubbing a bit.

"Hurt?" she asked. He nodded. She quickly looked for something on the desk before squeezing small drop of gel onto her finger, rubbing to his cheek.

"What is this? So cold…" he mumbled. She wiped the tears on her cheeks before hugging him back.

"Meghan, let me go… ergh… people keep looking at us…" he said, trying to free himself from her.

"No… I won't let you go. Then you will leave me… no…" she shook her head, tightening her embrace.

"Girl, I think you just bring him home," Ruby said, tapping her shoulder. Meghan lifted her face, looking at Vic. He nodded, smiling.

"Hey, show us a kiss first before go away," Jolin said while others giggling. Meghan blushed. Vic chuckled, titling her face gently.

They clapped their hands watching both kissing. Meghan blushed even redder, hiding her face against Vic's chest. He chuckled, hugging her tightly.

"Okay, show has over. Let them have their private moment," Ruby winked while the girls giggled.

"Let's go home," he whispered, wrapping his arm around her waist, bringing her out. She sighed blissfully, leaning to him all the time.

"Aww… give me a break. Why tonight?" he groaned while she giggling.

"My car over there, let's go," she said. He sighed, locking the doors before following her. He frowned when she handed him her car key.

"I don't know how to drive," she said childishly. He chuckled, opening a door for her to get in before getting into the driver seat. She smiled, watching him all the time.

"Stop looking at me when I'm driving," he murmured. She giggled, ignoring his murmuring, looking at him all the time.

"Give me a break…"

-The End-

It's the end.

Thank you so much for reading this story.

For those who have forgotten, this story was written more than ten years ago (yes, it's ancient) and my English was still so-so. I write stories to improve my English and it took me more than 40 stories. Some I published (and the website is gone now) and some I still kept in the computer but all these are still my precious babies. Sorry for the grammar mistakes. Last but not least, until the next one (while I pushing myself writing TMAML).
