CHAPTER 35

Aria covered her mouth in shock.

"Lina what did you do? How did that even happen? In fact where are you right now?" Aria asked curiously.

"Ria, can you send me your new address? I don't think dad wants to see me right now" Alina said.

"Are you still at the airport? I will come pick you up instead"

"Don't worry Ria. I will drop by somewhere before heading to your place" Alina said.

"Where are you going to? You've only arrived today. You can't go around with a child like that, you should drop Louis with me before heading anywhere" Aria suggested but Alina smiled as she had a glance at her son.

"Louis will be fine. And by the way, I'm not planning on going clubbing so there's no need for you to worry. I have to go now Ria, the taxi I ordered for just arrived" Alina said and hung up.

"Greetings sir" Alina said as the taxi driver came out of the car and helped her with her luggage into the car booth.

She got into the car.

"I'm sorry my boy but we will be going around a little bit" Alina said with a smile as she brushed his hair backwards.

Alina drove down to Nolan's old building he bought before he left Seoul two years ago.

"Thank you sir, I will take it from here" Alina said as she got out of the car and the driver brought out her bag.

"Thank you ma'am" The driver said and drove off.

Alina looked at the building for a while.

"Nothing changed. It's just like yesterday. I guess I'm the only one who changed" Alina sighed and went into the building.

She was about getting into the elevator when she bumped into Lilian.

"Watch it!" Lilian fired and she glanced at Alina. She closed her mouth in shock.

"I'm sorry" Lillian stuttered and Alina scoffed.

"What are you apologizing for exactly? I clearly bumped into you so I'm the one at fault here so why are you the one apologizing?" Alina said sarcastically and she pressed the elevator button.

Lilian's eyes landed on the baby Alina was carrying that was gabbing pointing at objects, he sets his eyes on.

"This must be your child with Nolan. How's Nolan doing? Ever since he left South Korea, no one could get a hold of him. He's doing perfectly well right? When did you get back?" Lilian asked calmly.

Why's she suddenly acting all polite? It has only been two years, did she let go of her anger towards me already? Alina questioned in her head staring at Lilian suspiciously.

"I don't think you're in any position to ask me personal questions. We weren't even close if I can remember. Excuse me" Alina said coldly and the elevator danged open.

Alina got in with her luggage as she glared at Lilian.

I can't believe, of all people, you're the first person I'm bumping into. Alina said seriously in her head as the elevator door closed.

"What's with her attitude? Why's she so cold? Like I care. You managed to get Nolan all to yourself and now you think so highly of yourself" Lilian said with a frown and walked away.

I'm sorry Falcon but it's been two years already and we can't all keep dwelling in the past. Lilian said in her head.

FLASHBACK****

On the night Falcon confronted Lilian after the grand party.

"Now, you're being professional. I like that" Falcon said coldly.

"What do you want?" Lilian asked curiously.

"You have to promise to stay away from Alina and her life completely. If you happen to bump into her by coincidence then you have to be polite to her and apologize for your actions today and about my party, you will have to pay for that professionally. I've got your photo with me and I'm not losing it anytime soon so don't let your guard down. I will be watching you Lilian" Falcon threatened.

Alina got into Nolan's apartment.

"It's perfectly clean. Ria did a good job here" Alina smiled as she looked around.

"Louis look over there, your dad and I always played around. We listened to songs together and we ended up falling asleep on that couch" Alina said with a smile pointing at the areas in the apartment she had memories with Nolan.

"Those were the good days. What changed so much? So much changed and so did we? I'm sorry, you're left in the middle of this" Alina said sadly as she pat her son's back.

"Daddy" Louis called out in a baby tone and Alina sighed.

Alina looked around the apartment as she reminisces on her memories with Nolan in the apartment.

....."Nolan, it tickles".....

...."Alina, get back here"....

...."How can you be this cute"....

Alina had flashes of their words when they played around.

Louis kept on gabbing all by himself and Alina took him out of his carrier and placed him on the floor so he would walk around on his own.

"Be careful so you don't get hurt okay" Alina said softly then she sat down on a couch tiredly.

"Should I just sell the apartment? It's filled with memories but those memories right now are like a torn on my flesh" Alina said coldly as she glanced around.

Louis ran around the sitting room joyfully.

FLASHBACK***

Two years back...

Alina got to the States and managed to get a hold of Nolan.

"Nolan, I'm at the airport right now. Please come pick me up" Alina said over the phone.

"What! How or when did you get here Alina?" Nolan asked curiously.

"I couldn't get a hold of you. You stopped taking your calls and I couldn't stop worrying about you"

"Don't move away from where you are. I will come pick you up immediately" Nolan said and hung up.

Minutes later, Nolan rushed to the airport looking around and he saw Alina seated at a corner.

"Alina!" Nolan called out in surprise and he ran to her.

Alina stood up and Nolan gave her a tight hug.

"I'm sorry Alina, I'm so sorry. I've missed you so much, I felt like I was losing my mind. Thank you so much for been here, you nave no idea how much this means to me" Nolan said almost in tears and Alina pat his back.

"I felt like I was losing my mind as well. I'm sorry it took me this long to get here" Alina said as tears escaped her eyes.

"Let's go home, you must be tired from your trip" Nolan sniffed as he broke the hug and grabbed luggage.

Nolan drove Alina back to his apartment there in the states.

"You've lost so much weight Nolan. Weren't you feeding well? Were you skipping your meals?" Alina asked curiously.

Nolan smiled and kissed her forehead.

"I've been feeding well Alina, I just lost some weight because I couldn't get you off my mind" Nolan said and Alina boost into tears.

"You went through so much without even sharing it with me. I would have rushed down here without having a second thought about it" Alina said sobbing.

Nolan wiped off her tears.

"You're here now and that's what matters. I love you Alina" Nolan said softly and they got out of his car.

They went into the apartment.

"Mum, I'm back" Nolan announced as they went inside.

Alina's eyes landed on Nolan's mum that was laying on a mattress with her legs wrapped with a cast on.

Alina fell to the ground as tears roll down her cheeks uncontrollably.

"That must hurt" Alina cried staring at Nolan's mum.

"Son, why's she on the floor? Alina, why are you crying?" Nolan's mum asked.

"Nolan, she just called me by my name?" Alina asked in shock and Nolan helped her up.

"Of course, mum have heard a lot about you and she has seen lots of your photos as well"

Alina spent months together with Nolan and his mum as she helped his mum with her physiotherapy.

Three months later....

Nolan's mum recovered completely.

"Mum, I've thought hard about it and I wish to take the next step with Alina. I want to get married to her" Nolan informed.

"Nolan I get the fact that you love her a lot and you wish to have her by your side for a lifetime but you shouldn't forget the fact that she once had a brain trauma, so it's a bit of a risk for you in the nearest future"

"What are you trying to say mum?" Nolan asked with a frown.

"I'm a doctor as well Nolan and everyone thinks Alina was born ugly but all that were due to the pills her mum took when she was pregnant of Alina. Those wrinkles and rashes on Alina's face when she was little were results of her mother's dosage during pregnancy. Getting married to a woman with such a flaw, isn't good for your reputation my son. You're still young, you don't have to rush into anything. You've only been dating for some months now, don't rush things"

"Mum, I'm sorry but I don't want to understand you because I love Alina a lot and that's what matters more. Just because she has a single flaw, which isn't even her fault, you're having doubts about making her your daughter in law. Mum, you love Alina too, you've observed and learned everything about her. She's a good girl and there's nowhere I will ever find anyone like her. My love for her is boundless and I'm sorry mum but you have to give your consent to our wedding" Nolan said calmly to his mum.

Alina sat at the next room and their whole conversation was heard loud and clear in the next room.

Tears roll down her cheeks on hearing everything.

Nolan came into the room and found Alina in tears.

"Alina, I'm sorry" Nolan said almost in a whisper and he hugged her tight.

"Don't take mum's words to heart. She's always this way. She gets really anxious and indecisive when it comes to making a decision" Nolan explained.

"I'm thankful to her for clearing out my doubts about being born with an ugly face. At least I know why" Alina said as she laughed with tears in her eyes as well.

The doorbell rang.

"I'm not expecting anyone so who's here?" Alina questioned and head to the door.

She opened the door and Aria jumped on her.

"Lina" Aria screamed with her arms wrapped around back.

"Ria, I missed you so much" Alina whined.

"Let's go in" Alina cut in and they broke the hug.

Alina shut the door and they walked to the sitting room.

"How on earth did you manage to know I'm here?" Alina asked as they sat down.

"My hunch did. Where's my baby boy?" Aria asked looking around as she stood up.

"He's over there" Alina pointed at the lobby and Aria ran there and carried him on her arms.

"Louis, my love, your aunty missed you so much" Aria cried as she pecked Louise's face.

"Aunty" Louis uttered laughing as Aria kissed all over his face.

"I can't wait anymore Alina. What the hell did you do back there in the states? Why on earth would you think of divorcing Nolan? The last time I remember, the both of you were so in love with each other?" Aria questioned as she went back to where Alina was.

"Nolan and I got married because we loved each other but we forgot to learn about the basics of marriage. We were doing perfectly fine when we dated but everything changed when we made things official. Right now, dad doesn't want to even see my face. He thinks I'm the one to be blamed for this"

"What lead you to making divorce your option?" Aria asked.

"Nolan thinks I'm not worthy or ready of being a mother. After Louis was born, Nolan and I started having issues. Louis once had a scratch on his face and I took major precautions so it doesn't leave a scar on after a while Louis had a bruise again from falling. I yelled at Nolan for not being watchful of his son"

"Nolan said, I was being over protective and I'm being obsessed with scars. Why would he say that to me when he knows exactly what I went through just to get over my fears of not having a pretty face? No woman in her right senses will allow her child go through that same experience. I want the best for my son and he thinks I'm wrong" Alina half yelled.

"Alina, don't tell me you got divorced because of that?"

"Nolan, couldn't hold on to me. He let go of my hands so easily, like he never loved me in the first place" Alina said with a teary eyes.

FLASHBACK***

"Nolan, Let's get a divorce" Alina said in tears and Nolan kept mute for some minutes.

"Yes, I think that would be best for everyone if we go our separate ways" Nolan said tiredly and walked away to his bedroom.

Alina sat on the floor as she sobbed heavily.
