CHAPTER 34

Next morning....

Alina woke up and saw Falcon sitting next to her.

"Good morning Falcon" Alina greeted and searched around with her eyes.

"He left this before leaving" Falcon said and placed a box on the bed.

"What's inside?" Alina asked.

"No idea. He said I should give this to you immediately you wake up that you will understand" Falcon said and Alina opened the box.

It was a strawberry cake.

"Falcon shot your eyes, you can't see this" Alina said sharply and Falcon closed his eyes.

"What happened Alina? Is it something private? Should I give you some privacy?" Falcon asked curiously.

"It's nothing like that but I don't think it's right for you to see this. It might not be good"

"Why? What is it? Is smells delicious? I think it's something related to food" Falcon asked curiously.

"It's a cake" Alina said slowly and Falcon opened his eyes.

He smiled.

"Are you okay?" Alina asked concerned.

"Of course I'm fine. I'm no longer scared of cakes all thanks to you and it's your birthday after all not mine. You deserve a cake" Falcon said and Alina smiled.

"I'm glad you overcame that but it's past my birthday. My birthday was yesterday actually" Alina pointed out sadly.

"You should have a look at that? I think he left you a message inside" Falcon said and Alina looked inside the box and she found a letter next to the cake.

~ "Alina, I'm sorry for everything you went through yesterday. I should have stood next to you and protected you like I was supposed to. I walked away like a coward. I'm sorry you're having your cake just now. I'm a step behind this time and it kinda hurts. I'm sorry Alina. You know I love you so much and I would do anything to have you by my side but I guess I can't always get what I want. You have to make me a promise that you will always look out for yourself even when I'm not around or beside you to do that. Don't allow anyone's words get to you. You're the most beautiful girl in the world and that's what matters to me more. Take care sweetie and a happy birthday once again. I'm hoping I get the chance to make it up to you some day" ~ Nolan wrote in the letter and tears roll down Alina's cheeks.

"Alina, did he happen to chop some onions on the letter?" Falcon cut in and Alina sniffed.

"Something doesn't feel right. Something feels really off" Alina said seriously.

"What do you mean?"

"Did Nolan tell you were he was going? He's on leave at the moment so it's only normal that he stays next to me but he's not around at the moment and all he left was a note on the cake which is quite confusing" Alina said seriously.

"Alina!" Sam and Aria called out in chorus as they ran to her bed.

"Dad! Ria! Why are you guys here?" Alina asked curiously.

"Alina, how are you feeling now? You don't feel anymore pain right?" Sam asked worriedly.

"I'm fine but how did you know I was here?" Alina asked.

"Nolan came to the house early in the morning and he sounded weird and a bit off. Alina did you perhaps get in to a fight with Nolan? Is everything okay between the both of you?" Sam asked curiously and Alina got out of her bed.

"What do you mean dad? What did he say to you?" Alina asked curiously.

"Lina, is it safe for you to get off your bed?" Aria asked worriedly.

"I'm fine but I feel uneasy" Alina said restlessly.

"It feels like Nolan is traveling to somewhere far away but he didn't say much about it" Sam said and Alina ruffled her hair as she picked up her phone and placed a call across to Nolan but he wasn't picking up.

"He's not picking up? What's wrong with Nolan?" Alina questioned worriedly.

"Should I look into it?" Falcon cut in.

"Mr Falcon you're here as well" Sam noticed his presence and Falcon bowed to him.

"Greetings Mr Sam"

"Falcon please look into it for me" Alina said desperately and Falcon nodded and walked to the side.

Alina rushed to Aria.

"Ria, please put a call across to Matthew. He's friends with Nolan right? He probably knows of Nolan's whereabout" Alina said.

"Alright, I will call him right away" Aria said and dialed Matt's number on her phone.

"Hello, babe how are you doing? You miss me already. We only got back this morning" Matt said softly.

"Matt, do you have any idea where your friend Nolan is right now? He's actually making Alina worried" Aria said sharply.

"He didn't tell her?" Matt asked.

"Tell her what?" Aria asked and Alina looked at her curiously.

"Nolan's at the airport right now. He has probably boarded the plane already or he's still at the airport"

"Airport? Where's he headed to?" Aria asked curiously.

"He's leaving for the state. He has an emergency over there"

"Babe what airport exactly?" Aria asked.

"Seoul international airport, I guess" Matt said.

"I will call you back okay. I have to go now" Aria said and hung up.

"Nolan's at the airport?" Alina asked curiously.

"Seoul international airport" Falcon cut in as he joined them.

"Why's he suddenly leaving without letting you know?" Aria questioned.

"This isn't the time to throw question. We need to head to the airport now, his flight will be taking off in an hour time. If we go now, you might be able to catch him up" Falcon said and Alina picked up her purse.

"Let's go" Alina said and ran along with Aria.

Sam tapped Falcon on his shoulders.

"Doesn't it hurt to be this good? I know you have feelings for my daughter but you're helping her get back with her boyfriend instead. You're doing a good thing but don't forget to be happy yourself" Sam said and walked away.

Falcon bite his lower lips sadly.

They all drove down to the airport and Alina kept on calling Nolan.

"Why are you not taking your calls? Please take your call Nolan" Alina said looking around.

"I think we should all search different directions" Sam suggested.

"Yes dad, that sounds like a good idea" Aria said and they all went on different directions.

Alina ran around calling out to Nolan.

"Nolan!"Alina called out. She broke into tears already as she ran around.

Falcon ran to her.

"Alina, I couldn't find him at that direction. Are you okay?" Falcon asked curiously as he noticed the tears in her eyes.

"Why would he leave without even telling me about it and all of a sudden? I'm supposed to be his girlfriend but why would he treat me like this?" Alina cried on Falcon's shoulders.

"This isn't the time for you to cry your eyes out. We have to look for him then you will have a chance to ask your questions" Falcon said and broke the hug.

Nolan came down the stairs leading to the waiting areas at the airport.

"What do you mean Matt? Did you actually tell them where I am right?" Nolan asked curiously.

"Of course, I did. How come you didn't say a word to your girlfriend when you're making such a big decision? It's not like you're going over there to have some fun. You're going there because of your mother's condition so why would you keep Alina in the dark? Don't you care about her at all" Matt asked and Nolan ruffled his hair frustratedly as he held back the tears on his eyes.

"Telling her will only make things harder for me. I'm finding it hard leaving her behind already. I can't leave without Alina but I can't be selfish either. I shouldn't hold her back because of my personal issues. Leaving quietly is best for everyone" Nolan said coming down the stairs and he bumped into Alina.

"I'm sorry" He said sharply as he held her from falling.

Alina looked at him and Nolan's eyes widened in shock and the tears that was crowded in his eyes dropped immediately.

"Nolan" Alina called out slowly and he placed his phone in his pocket.

"I will give the both you some privacy" Falcon said and walked away.

Alina hugged Nolan tight as she cried even more.

"You planned on leaving without even letting me know. Are you still upset because of what happened yesterday about my birthday? Is that the reason why you reciprocated my actions" Alina cried on his shoulders.

Nolan pat her back as tears roll down his cheeks as well.

"I'm sorry Alina, I'm so sorry. I wasn't brave enough to say goodbye to you. Seeing you right now really tears my heart into a million pieces. I hate saying goodbyes Alina. I'm sorry" Nolan sobbed and Alina broke the hug.

"I will follow suit. I will get my papers ready and join you over there. We can still be together Nolan. It's really not something so difficult. I've got a Month off at the hospital. I don't think there's a problem with me coming along" Alina suggested and Nolan wiped off the tears on her cheeks.

"It's not that easy as you think Alina. My mum got into a fatal accident and I have no idea when she will be getting better because her case is kinda critical. Which boyfriend in his right senses will go to such a trip with the girl he loves so much. It's heartbreaking telling you goodbye but I've got no choice Alina, I can't take you with me physically but I will always have you right inside my heart and soul. Just look out for yourself and I will be back in no time. Can you make me a promise?" Nolan requested as he positioned his pinky finger.

"Always think of me when you're going through the toughest times" Nolan said holding back his tears.

Alina cried staring at him before slipping her pinky finger into his as they crossed their fingers.

"I promise and you should promise to do same as well" Alina said in tears.

"I promise" Nolan said sadly and he managed to put a smile on.

He leaned forward and kissed Alina lightly and he hugged her gently.

Nolan had a glance at his wristwatch.

"Alina I have to go now. You're a good girl so always look out for yourself and your dad as well" Nolan smiled as he broke the hug.

Alina held his hand refusing to let go with tears rolling down her cheeks uncontrollably.

"I'm sorry" Nolan said almost in a whisper, holding back his tears.

He walked backwards and Alina's hands slipped away.

Nolan turned around and the tears surrounding his eyes dropped immediately. He walked away without looking back.

Alina sobbed heavily as she watched him disappear into the boarding area.

"I love you Nolan" Alina screamed.

Nolan stopped walking on hearing her voice.

He held his chest as his heart broke even more.

I will always love you Alina. Don't forget that. Nolan said in his head and walked away.

MONTHS LATER.....

It's been months already but Alina couldn't get a hold of Nolan.

Alina parked some of her things after booking a flight ticket to the states.

"Alina you know so well that I will always support you in whatever decision you make because your happiness matters the most to me. I love you my child. Take good care of yourself and say hello to Nolan when you get there"

"I will come visit if you don't come back soon. I will miss you so much Lina" Aria said and they all had a group hug.

"It's been months already. I should go to him instead. I know Nolan needs me. The both of you should take care and always reach out to me okay. I will miss you so much" Alina said determined with a smile on her face as she bid farewell to her family at the airport.

TWO YEARS LATER....

Alina returned to Seoul alone.

Not alone though but she had a baby with her on his carrier.

"I got divorced with Nolan" Alina said calmly to Aria over the phone as she head out of the airport.

"What!" Aria gasped in shock.
