The Mansion

"We've arrived Madam." He stated, bowing to my mother and pointing to the entrance.

"Thank you very much, Jasper." She whispered, giving the driver an intimate-looking kiss on the cheek before walking inside. Drake looked angry but didn't say anything and followed her in, he made sure to hold the door open and wait for me. Mom talked to me for hours about nonsense, stuff I know she rehearsed and didn't really care about. Then a guest arrived. He was someone I didn't know, who looked at least 10 years younger than my mom. Although because my mom doesn't look her age they suited each other fine. She left with him and I went to my room alone. It's been so long since I've been here, the walls are lined with pictures of me and the air was laced with pure nostalgia. Once I sat down on my bed I heard,

"Your mom has a nice place," Miguel commented suddenly and I shrieked.

"How did you find this place?!" I questioned.

"I always know where you are... wait, you left intending to ditch me?" Miguel's accusation made me flinch away.

"Of course not..." I replied, avoiding his eyes.

"Lying doesn't suit you." His voice lowered when he said this and I fidgeted nervously.

"I just... thought you might try something weird... and you could hang with your otherworldly friends until I came home if you got lost." My voice shook while I explained and Miguel gently bonked me on the head. I also don't want him to see firsthand just how dysfunctional my family can be.

"Don't try to go places without me." I frowned. "I have to watch over you... and until I pass on, I'm haunting you so you can't ditch me, got it?!" I nodded to his question then he kissed my cheek and mumbled. "You're so cute when you're obedient." I got goosebumps. This guy is a complete sadist; I need to be more careful. "Is this the place you grew up in?" I swung my feet over the edge of the bed and replied,

"No, well... not completely. My mom moved here after the divorce. I spent most of my childhood at my father's house." He rubbed my thigh after hearing my answer,

"I want to visit his house too... this place is great if I'm being honest. There are so many photos of you!" I blushed at his comment,

"You don't have to look at those, I hate most of them, I look so awkward."

"That's you... awkward. Doing your best to put on a smile to please others but always failing to hide how you actually feel... That's why I like those photos, they're genuinely you," His remark stunned me a bit this time, and then he leaned over and nuzzled his nose on mine before giving me a few deep kisses.

"Okay... I... can show you my photo album later..." He chuckled then cupped my cheeks saying,

"I'd like that," and making our lips meet once again. Mom didn't arrive home anytime soon so I went to the kitchen and asked her chef, Maxwell, to prepare me eggrolls for dinner.

"Liluette?" A man I didn't know stated groggily. He was in pajamas and yawning. It's 8 in the afternoon why was he still sleeping?!

"N-no." I said moving my hair so he could see my face clearly.

"Oh! You must be her daughter!" He said excitedly. He rushed to my side at the bar counter my mother had set up in her kitchen/dining room/bar. He sat on the stool next to me and stared at my face so long that it was unnerving. "I've been looking forward to meeting you..." He commented grinning and not shifting his eyes away one bit.

"Could you please stop looking at me so intensely?" I requested, unable to stand it anymore. Maxwell placed my plate in front of me at the same time.

"I'm sorry, it's just you look so much like her, you're both so gorgeous. It's unbelievable. Those genes of hers are amazing... Oh, I'm Ken by the way." I blushed from embarrassment and scooted further away from him while eating.

"Nwice to mweet chew." I replied with my mouth full. He started laughing.

"You even eat like her." He commented, leaning towards me and moving his hand onto my thigh then whispering. "I wonder what else you have in common." I screeched then jumped from my seat and backed away. "What's wrong? I'm just..." I watched as his face went pale then he grabbed his stomach and ran off. The sound of him throwing up was so loud that it echoed through the whole house. That's when Miguel became visible, exactly where the man had been standing.

"D-did you do that?" I was grateful and scared at the same time.

"I only moved his organs around a little... Was that bad?" I shook my head "no" and then looked to make sure Maxwell wasn't paying any attention to me.

"I didn't even see you..." I whispered.

"There are moments when even you won't be able to see me..." Miguel answered, in that ominous way he loves. "You really need to stop being so cute, you attract too much trouble." I blushed brightly and struggled to hold my tongue, since we weren't alone. I was so nervous that I didn't even think to ask him how many times he'd been invisible around me. Miguel sat with me at the bar, cuddled me, and stroked my back to ease my anxiety. It helped a lot and I asked Maxwell to make me macaroons to eat while I waited. I am here to see my mom so I should be awake and ready to talk when she comes home, at least. About 3 hours later I heard my mom finally arriving. She was laughing and the man she was with was laughing too, then I heard a door slam and things went quiet for a few seconds and then I heard loud moaning and banging coming from her room. I suppose she hasn't changed at all. And... I stayed up for nothing. I even got harrassed by one of her friends and I didn't even get a chance to talk with her after that... Still so inconsiderate.
